It's a great computer. It is huge and heavy, so this is not a portable laptop at all. The customizability of the lights adds to the appeal in my optinion. I have noticed that because the graphics and processor are so advanced, some games wont launch (i.e. The Sims 3) without patches, so something to keep in mind. Per global reviews, the fans are indeed loud and push a lot of heat. If you get a cooling pad, that should ease the frequency of the internal fans as the pad fans tend to be quieter and are constant. The battery complaint is also true, it does drain fast, though I just keep it plugged in. Withiut taxing games or apps, the battery is fine. I would recommend it for a high performance laptop.

Now that the machine is up and running, I do love it. But... 1) I had to go through the set up several times because it locked up for failed forcing a hard reboot. 2) The machine is massively heavy if you have to carry the power cord with it, well, hit the gym. 3) Being an 18" monitor, the machine isn't just proportionally larger (like going from a 15" to 17" laptop). This machine is nearly square and doesn't fit into any bags I've found. Just a warning if you plan to use this as a portable device. 4) This device gets HOT! The body is structured to allow more airflow under and into the laptop to cool it, but it gets hot quickly and stays hot, even when sleeping. So far, it doesn't seem to impact performance or overheat causing the machine to shutdown as I've had with other laptops, but this isn't a machine you'll set on your lap to work while watching TV. 5) A PRO...it worked seamlessly with my Dell docking station so I'm able to use three monitors (two ViewSonic and the laptop) and I do appreciate that I see different wallpapers on each monitor. All-in-all, I think I got the best laptop I could for the money. I've used Dell Precisions in the past and the latest models are bulky and didn't fit my preferences as past models. Switching to this device has had plenty of upside, but I've lost the portability I enjoy when I want to do other types of work in different spots around the house, or a coffeeshop, etc.

I should start off by saying all the stars are reserved for the product alone and not the store, I did not appreciate the service during the purchasing process. That said this laptop is simply a beast. I'm still in disbelief that Best Buy labeled this as "good" quality and not excellent. Sure it's a little big and heavier for it but for one, they dont lie about the size and I bought it partly for that large 18 screen. It also doesn't seem to get as hot as it's predecessor at least not right now. The battery life is exactly as you'd expect from a high performance gaming laptop, its a desktop replacement so I'll still give 5 stars since I had no unreal expectations there.

Pros: fast, beautiful design and super RGB customization, gorgeous display, beast, premium feels of touchpad and surrounds, fast fans, many ports, can handle any games, works with hundreds of tabs with ease, large screen, bang for your bucks. Cons: Often quaking fans’ sounds, , best buy’s product, quiet speakers, loose hinge, short return window, a few loose ports, bad customer service (Dell + Best Buy), warranty is a joke for Dell, carry in service for dell (ubreakifix) is horrendous.

This thing is a tank! It's big and heavy, not something you really want to lug around travelling a lot, unless you want a powerhouse portable desktop of a laptop. I needed a laptop with a big screen for remote work and I wanted to able to game on it as well. This does it all! I was able to play COD while away on vacation and it was as good as my desktop gaming system. It does put out a bunch of heat when it gets cranking, be prepared for that.

The Alienware M18 R2 is a high quality built laptop. Premium material and workmanship. I use it for gaming and have had no issues with it. The 18 inch display is a perfect size and resolution. I use external speakers with it and any fan noise is not that noticeable. If you want to game without taking up the space of a desk top rig this is the laptop to buy.

Its loud and heavy, but it's also a great machine.

Needs updates out of package, the video driver first as the screen would sometimes not come on upon booting until drivers get updated. Loud, difficult to find travel bags for. But great performance, best with headphones vents loudly.

The Alienware m18 is an exceptional gaming laptop that delivers top-tier performance and a premium build. Its 18-inch QHD+ display offers immersive visuals, and the option for a 480Hz FHD+ screen caters to competitive gamers seeking ultra-smooth gameplay. Equipped with high-end components like the Intel Core i9-13980HX CPU and NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU, it handles demanding games and multitasking with ease. The CherryMX mechanical keyboard provides a satisfying typing experience, and the robust cooling system ensures the laptop stays cool under pressure. While it’s on the heavier side, making portability a challenge, the Alienware m18 stands out as a powerful desktop replacement for serious gamers and professionals.

If you're looking for a machine that can handle anything without even blinking, this is it. The m18 R2 is an absolute powerhouse — the Intel i9 and RTX 4070 combo delivers top-tier performance whether I’m gaming, coding, or running demanding apps. The 18" QHD display at 165Hz is a dream — silky smooth and beautifully vibrant. It’s big, it’s bold, and it means business. The cooling system is surprisingly efficient for a machine this size, and it still manages to look sleek in that Dark Metallic Moon finish. This isn’t just a laptop — it’s my command center, my creative station, my digital warhorse. My ride or die. Period.

Overall good, just don’t like the sound the fans make, a little to loud, probably because it getting hot fast. Because I use for only gaming the battery is not that good.

Really loving this laptop! I have been wanting one since I first knew they existed. battry life is not great during gaming of course because of the high power consumption but I dont expect to use off charge. I am able to use for working remotely. And for gaming and whatever else I need.

I waited for quite some time to acquire an Alienware laptop. I had heard so many good things about them. When I picked up the item and began unboxing it, I was genuinely impressed. It felt like such care was put into making the unboxing experience...special. Setting it up was easy, as I'm a tech-savvy gal. The trackpad is in an awkward position in relation to the keyboard. Using the F keys was a bit confusing and opposite compared to past laptops. There have been times when the screen doesn't go to the unlock screen so I can type in my pin. This is very annoying. Even though it is a beast for the current spec standards you may want to see in a gaming laptop, when I've done the most basic of processes or applications, it has sometimes seemed to struggle. Physically, it's not easy to transport because it's a heavy laptop (and battery), so I can't recommend this if you need or want to be more portable or on the go. Some of the ports on difficult to locate and access (most are on the left side or the back). The sound is good. The video quality is good. The keyboard and keys feel cozy - and I do like having a numeric pad. When the battery is about to die, the power button flashes to remind me. Is it worth the money I put down for it? I really can't say yes to that. I have felt a bit of buyer remorse more than a few times. (I did only buy this as my Acer Helios finally died - otherwise, I was happy enough.) I did expect a bit more user-friendly features. Perhaps too much because of the hype. Will I buy Alienware ever again? I don't know.

I have been very impressed with the power of this machine. It has handled every game I've thrown at it with ease and is fantastic for multitasking. It's big and bulky because of the screen size, but I use it more of a stationary machine so it's perfect. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quality gaming/work machine.

There is no better Laptop than Alienware. This computer is a beast. It's fast!! It's the best computer I've ever purchased. It is beefy with 1 TB SDD and 35 GB RAM. I have upgraded to Win PRO, 3 TB SDD, and 64 GB of 5600 Hz RAM. It will play any game you throw at it. I love this Laptop and will use it as a Desktop as well as a laptop. I would highly recommend this Alienware R2 M18 18" to everyone from the novice to professional that uses it for business or play. Go buy it!!

So far so good. Great features and screen size for the sale price. Only thing to be aware of is the BIOS is set to Raid 0 for the empty ssd slot so if you just want to put in a ssd as a D drive without raid 0 you will need to change the BIOS first. And, the power button does blink in windows standby mode. But everything is fast, and screen is great with plenty of ports.

Good for on the go gaming pc. The computer get hot. The performance is decent while playing games. Not good for ray tracing, get stutter while playing with ray tracing. For the most part is good pc.

Faster than anything else I have used. Sharp, huge, bright Display. Keyboard is amazing. Customizations are endless. Syched with all my devices seamlessly. Portable desktop is a great way to describe it.

Everything i was looking for. My last 2 laptops where MSI and still worked great, but i wanted an upgrade on graphics and CPU to run new titles on ultra settings and this delivered. Very satisfied with this purchase. I can easily run Baldurs Gate 3 and TW Warhammer 3 on top settings with no lag or stuttering
