It’s a beast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I seriously don’t know what to say about this Alienware laptop because all I see are pros. This laptop is perfect. If you look perfect in the dictionary this laptop is what you will see. It does gaming, video editing, photo editing, office work, and so much more better than any laptop out there. You can upgrade the ram to 64GB and add 2 more 2tb ssd on top of the 1th. Thank you Alienware and it was worth every penny.

You can't go wrong but there is one catch.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very good bang for the buck powerhouse laptop. It is Alienware. It eats the games I play (X-plane 11, Wolfenstein series, Battlefield, Doom.) I played DOOM at the ultra settings: the fans didn't even feel it. I'm impressed at how effective new cooling is. The only warning is all the ports are on the back. If you are planning to use this laptop more portable and need to plug usb drives or wired mouse a lot, it will get annoying. You can't see the back so you have to close the screen, plug whatever you want to plug and then open the lid again. I wish they put at least 1 usb-a port on the side for convenience. Having said that I'm ok w/ this setup because I use a wireless mouse and the usb dongle stays at the back all the time and I don't access the back a lot. Just FYI. 11th gen i7, rtx 3070, very good keyboard, 17" screen and lots of lights. I would buy it again.

Wish it was better
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Almost entirely used for gaming. Keyboard stopped working 4 months after purchase. Power adapter wiring starting fraying and displaying power wires as well. Backlight does leak through the screen so artifacts are present which can be annoying at times. Support luckily will cover "non wear and tear" while in warranty so the keyboard will get fixed, but the power adapter will be out of pocket, even though I would attribute it to bad quality. Be wary of spending a lot of money on a product or brand that continuously is trying to push firmware updates to try and stabilize their systems along with poor quality accessories.

Great Alienware.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome machine. This replaced another system that I had to return due to overheating issues. So far, I have put it through its paces and could not be any happier. Fast system and love all the features so far. Wish I could have gotten the R2 but had to swap the overheating one and this was available. I am very happy with decision.

Very fast for a (relatively) thin laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop will be able to handle most if not all modern games at near max settings and still run flawlessly and not too hot. It’s also pretty thin for a gaming laptop, especially compared to my last. I also got this a a $400 sale which made it a pretty good deal. Overall, it’s one of your best choices in the gaming laptop market.

Powerful and Thin
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Alienware x17 R1 is a powerful and thin 17 inch laptop with a 360Hz FHD display, an 11th. Generation i7 cpu, a 125w Nvidia RTX3070 gpu, and an innovative cooling system running Windows 11. Incorporating an RTX3070 gpu into a thin laptop can be tricky, with some vendors using a lower power gpu and/or employing throttling to reduce temperature. This leads to lower frame rates and performance. The x17 R1 uses a higher voltage gpu with a superior cooling system to alleviate this. For the past year, I have been using a laptop with an 80w RTX3060 gpu. Although performance has been adequate, the x17 R1 is noticeably faster. For example, on the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark, the x17 R1 has a graphics score of 11,020 while my previous RTX3060 scored 7046. Games also have much higher framerates. The laptop features the use of Optimus and supports G-Sync. With Optimus, the use of the battery saving mode, and the display frequency reduced to 60Hz, the laptop has surprisingly good battery life when internet surfing or using office products. Also, in a pinch the laptop can be powered from the usb-c connection. In summary, if you are looking for a large screen, thin laptop that will play any game thrown at it and can also, in a pinch, double as your daily driver, I would recommend the Alienware x17 R1. The only problem that I had with the laptop is that it would initially not complete the setup past the Welcome screen. After shutting it off a couple times, setup completed and I had no further problems.

Great computer!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this because my older computer wasn’t cutting it for photography editing and storage. This computer is fast and holds a ton of photo/video files and we are loving it so far! It’s got a huge screen so you can see all the details very well.

Alienware 17” a nice machine with a terrible fan
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 13” Alienware with a 1060 card that I use as my main computer. That little machine was built like a tank, survived multiple drops and kept working. This is why I got the new Alienware 17. The good things first: fast, and cool, it seems a nice machine. Played Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra, 60fps, the only area where it was dropping frames was Japan town. I could have solve it by switching to High in settings. Overall good performance. The bad thing that made me return it: computer was quiet on idle, but as soon as opening a program, the fan started a high pitch noise that sounded like a high pitch dentist drill. The sound was very annoying, even disturbing peoples in adjacent rooms. Forget about doing any productive work, the sound made it impossible. Being a thin laptop requires small size fan working at a very high speed in order to deal with the heat I think. And that is a problem. Another design issue is the light in the back of the computer where all the ports are located. Trying to plug the mouse with that light on was like trying to do it with a flashlight pointed straight in your eyes. In the quest towards light and thin computers that have to be also powerful, there are compromises that have to be made, and while I understand that, the fan noise was to much for me so the computer was returned. I wish Dell would go back from this Apple imposed stupid fashion like statement that so many other companies started to follow, skinny and as few ports as we can get away with. Please bring back well built machines that are thick enough to support good cooling for today’s power hungry GPUs, and enough ports to connect our mouse, keyboard, monitors, cintiq and so on. That’s the laptop I want to buy. For now I am still using my old and reliable 13” Alienware.

Superior graphics
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent laptop with superior graphics. 4th alienware laptop my geeky family has owned. Only downfall is the chargers tend to need replacing. Small price to pay for an exceptional machine though
