Maybe it was the rushed marketing campaign following the ouster of Kevin Spacey in a crowded release window or maybe it was the non-descriptvtitle but this film got completely lost upon its release last Xmas and that’s too bad. It’s really pretty great and at this sale price, it’s worth owning especially if you’re a fan of Ridley Scott’s work like me.

Fascinating story of J Paul Getty, his family, and the kidnapping. True story. Great direction, writing, acting etc. Ridley Scott did an excellent job of substituting Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer. When you find out that it was less than two months before the film was supposed to be released that the substitution was made and they reshot all of the scenes? You'll flip out it was great!

This movie kept me on the edge of my seat!! I cannot believe some of the things that happen in this movie! It is crazy how people can see the world from a small perspective that they are not willing to help family. This story is tragic and I do not want to say much! In the end, watch this movie and it is one of the best movies I own.

Base on the true events of J. Paul Getty and his grandson's kidnapping, this tale is not uplifting. Yet it captures our attention regarding how money gets between us and our loved ones. Beware of a graphic scene of what the kidnappers do to the grandson to get the attention of the eccentric Getty.

Preface by saying Ridley Scott is a fantastic director and has plenty of classics under his belt. With him being the most prolific director, he will however have a couple of duds. This movie is not one of them. It’s more along the lines of American gangster, long movie but with great performances.

The storyline was good, as is the case with most movies based on true events, and the acting was very good...especially Michelle Williams & Christopher Plummer. The movie was a little slow at times, but I did enjoy it.

It's amazing that this movie turned out so well after all of Kevin Spacey's scenes were reshot. Christopher Plummer as great as a greedy old JP Getty. Hard to believe anyone could be that hardhearted. Good acting and a decent plot based on real events.

Great period piece , captures the events with great detail. Gives the viewer significant insight into the emotions and fears of the captive boy. Well worth viewing , very descriptive of the times back then in many ways

Excellent film, definitely worth checking out. Definitely purchase this Blu-Ray as well given the film’s apparent lack of availability on streaming services

Absolutely loved the film. Everyone did a great job. From the actors to director, crew and soundtrack. It’s definitely different from most of Ridley Scott’s work but it’s a good type of different and definitely worth a watch.

Mark Wahlberg rarely disappoints. This movie is no exception to that statement. A great story. At times Getty's greed seemed a little over the top. I would give it another watch or more.

the grandfather is a mean old man and makes his family's lives misserable. I like this movie but it was hard to think that the grandfather would not want to pay for his grandson

With all the drama that surrounded its initial release, it’s impressive he was able to reshoot and pull off an engaging film. Williams and Plummer are the standouts. Good stuff.

This is a great film with great acting that allows the story to seem very realistic and lets the story play out well. It’s a good film to watch with a great cast.

I purchased this disc on sale for 6 bucks. After watching it, the film was a steal at this cost. This is one of those films I recommend buying even at full price. Superb!

I enjoyed the story and acting and the story is fairly straightforward. Recommended for Michelle Williams’ and Christopher Plummer’s performances.

Learned alot about J. Paul Getty from watching this movie. Great cast and nice to see Mark Wahlberg taking a break from his action films.

Christopher Plummer gives a fine performance as the calculating and ruthless Getty. Italy provides an amazing backdrop to this true story that is sure to captivate audiences.

True story that must be seen. Mark Wahlberg simply doing his thing as good as always. Sit back and enjoy watching with family and friends.
