I purchased Best Buy's package deal that had an Alpine SWS-12D4 sub and the Alpine MRV-M500 amp. At first it was in a 1.3 cu/ft. sealed box and it sounded alright, but seemed to be "dampened." I got a different box that could fit under my back seat and it was another sealed box but it's volume was 0.93 cu/ft. Let me tell you, it hits 100x harder and sounds sooooo much more clean than before. I looked up the 12D4's required air volume and it ranges from 0.65-1 cu/ft. so my new box is in the upper end of the range. All those people who say to get a box a little bigger than the manufacturer recommends isn't always the best advice. I absolutely love how it hits and the frequency it puts out plus it's no where near max power, this sub is insane with its power. Bottom line, keep it in a box recommended for it and you'll love it just as much!

    Superior quality subwoofer

I purchased this sub the first day it was on sale at Best Buy for %50 off. You really cannot go wrong with this sub it is way better than most of the other subs within its price range. Alpine has some of the best quality components in the car audio world for decent prices. 500W constant at 2 Ohms is more than enough power for one 12" and not only does it have a lot of power but it also reproduces bass accurately and cleanly at high volumes. Words really cannot do it justice. Would definitely recommend buying this sub and pairing it with either a Alpine or Sony Mono class D amplifier 500 watts rms. Current setup: Pioneer 6x8's, Sony CDX GT565UP, Sony 4 channel amp running the speakers, Alpine MRP M500 running 1 Alpine SWS 12D4 sub (in a ported box) use 4 gauge power wire.

so i had a kicker 12" CVR on a alpine 600w PDX mono block amp and it blew (got the sub for free off of someone because they fried the tinsel lead and I fixed it with some saulder). had an infinity kappa on it for a while (only 350w RMS but amazing tonal accuracy) but the cone would get excessively warm due to the amount of power so figured it was time for a beefier replacement... couldnt have gone wrong with this decision... great bass throughout the hertz range with no distortion whatsoever even with overpowering it with 600w RMS. so fresh and so clean. couldn't be happier, getting another i like it so much!!!

This sub is awesome! Big bass and pairs good with a ported or sealed box. I only have one and not that much power going to it; and it rattles the entire car. I'm very happy with this purchase

Had the 12'' kicker comp vr dual voice coil for 1 year and it started kicking my amp into protect mode and yesterday it hit the dirt so i brought it in and got the alpine type-s and it hits a lot harder than the kicker and their the same price very happy with this so far.

Took the Kicker Comp R 43CWR122 back and got the Alpine SWS-12D4 and its perfect in my enclosure, the Metra 12" single ported enclosure TCBXP-112. Turns out that the Kicker Comp R 43CWR122 needs a 1.75 CU FT - 2.25 CU FT box as recommended by Kicker. My enclosure is at 1.3 CU FT roughly. The tone was very muddy and very unsatisfying with the Kicker in this enclosure. Now I'm not knocking the Kicker as it pounded on my Alpine MRV-M500 and it would really take a beating. It slammed really, it just didn't sound right. Took the Kicker back and got the Alpine SWS-12D4 and its perfect in this box.. As far as how the Kicker would have sounded in the right box, I don't know really. I would say it would have been great however I was set on keeping my enclosure. The Kicker seams to be of better build quality than my Alpine: Kicker has nice stitching on the cone, paint is perfect, and contact terminals are awesome. My Alpine sub seems to have some sloppy gluing around the cone, the contact terminals are just ok, and paint finish is decent. Once installed the Alpine looks good in the trunk, definitely pounds, produces great lows/highs and the tone sounds really good. Handles everything I throw at it! It SLAMS!

I recently purchased this sub for my Altima Coupe and couldn't be happier. It produces plenty of seat rattling bass even at half the full volume setting. This Sub is a beast and very reasonably priced.

This delivers solid-punch bass reproduction. Good for all kinds of music except those genres that focus heavily on the low-end which needs 2 subs for proper effect.

I got this sub along with the alpine MRP-M500, both with box and installation cost me $598 including tax and 4 year warranty for both. Let me tell you, I used to have 2 12" MTX subs about 8 years ago and nothing since I sold my old car. This sub is my first sub in 8 years, all I have to say it hits harder and deeper and sounds better than my 2 12" MTX from 8 years ago. My gain is on below half, -5 base on headunit setting .. and you can still hear me from a block away one a single 12" ... it hits so hard I cannot believe it. None of my friends can comprehand that a single 12" can hit that hard, deep and clean ... IM VERY VERY happy!

only a 4 cause I just bought them today but must admit im impressed I got them hooked up to hifonics brutus 2000.1 so I cant wait until they break in. amp cut 1/4 the way up and these boys bang they catch and ride the lows im going to gradually increase the gains as the speakers break in but they sound good im a clarity junkie and the deliver I was going back and forth with the kickers but finally decided to go with the alpines and im satisfied cause these things are responsive they so far are catching the bass tones will update after about a week

Brought 1 subwoofer a month ago to pair it with my pioneer 2,400 watt amp, it was a harder than I thought. I just purchased another 1 today so now I have 2, both in a sealed box and man!! I'm completely satisfied with the product. Along with my 2 year warranty can't be any happier.

Purchased this to put the bump in the trunk. It did exactly what I wanted it to do. Great bass to enhance the Trimble to make it a all around great sound.

Let me say that I've been with Kicker for rougly 6 years now. All I've ever owned were their products. Coming from 2 10" CVRs and a ZX amp I was a little hesitant to try anything else. Glad I did. For being a single 12" Sub this puts my Kickers to shame. I paired it up with the mrp-m500, wired at 2 ohms, and it's powerful enough to turn any head on the street. Highly recommend to anyone looking for the flexibility of responsive, tight, bass or loud, hard hitting.

I bought this sub paired it with a kicker dx250.1 amp and it bangs. I am very pleased. Geek squad searched until they found the beat match for my amp and installed it in the box for cheap.

This alpine type s subs hit hard big bass!!!... this are 4-ohms so you need a 1000 watts amp at 1 ohm... to push them... overall a Bestbuy.
