First of all I want to state I am a big fan of Altec Lansing products. I have the Mini Jacket and love it. I use it on my river rafting trips and in my Polaris Ranger atv because of the water proof dust proof design. I don't nit pick sound quality because a sealed water proof speaker is not gonna sound as good as a indoor speaker. My Mini isn't loud enough when I'm cruising at 40 mph in my Ranger so I went to best buy to get the bigger Boom Jacket ($199 on sale for $99). When I got there they had just rolled out this new monster the Super Life Jacket!!! I was drooling over it and looked on my smartphone to read reviews. Product wasn't on website yet but I took a chance anyway because the mini was so good. It is heavy but my atv was gonna carry the weight so I didnt care. It was a 93 degree day and speaker stopped working after 2 hours. Would power on but no sound. Almost as if speaker wires became disconnected inside. When you turn on the speaker there is a greeting "welcome to alter lansing". But not anymore. So I returned it. 3 weeks later it was on sale for $249 and I thought I would try it again at $50 cheaper because I love the mini so much and maybe I bought a lemon. I looked for reviews and there are 5 now all giving 5 stars. Bring the new one home and plug in to charge. Directions state you must charge for 4 hrs before initial use then red light will turn off when completely charged. NO RED LIGHT? That's strange. Well maybe it was precharged but let it charge all night to be safe. Turned on the next day and it lasted 20 minutes and will not take a charge anymore or turn on for that mater. How can I get 2 lemons in a row???? Something isn't right. Would give zero stars if I could. GONNA BUY MEGA BOOM OR FUGOO NEXT OR JBL EXTREME.

Purchased the first super life jacket prior to spring break 2018. Two weeks after we returned from vacation, the unit would connect to the phone but would not play. Called customer service and was told to drain the battery and hard reset. The problem with that if the unit is fully charged, it takes forever to drain the battery. If there is no activity on the unit it turns off. Tried charging phones with the USB. Finally after a week of jacking with draining the battery it was complete. It does have a great battery life. Recharged the battery to reset and no change. Took back to Best Buy and they did take it back and provide a new unit. Now the second unit is doing the same and it is Aug and have only used it a hand full of times. The product discription makes this sound like the best out door speaker on the market but clearly has major issues.

Awesome speaker. Just don't let it get too hot. Great sound.

Love my speaker BUT can't find a 2.2 amp 16 V cord anywhere to charge it and Best Buy, Frey's and amazon do not have one either

Sounded good in the store so I decided to give it a try. I use it outdoors so I wanted something that would last. The sound was not the greatest and not very loud. I was expecting more quality and volume for $300!! Also there is no way to tell if the battery is fully charged. After 6 hrs of use I couldn’t get it to turn on. The speaker is worth about $80 not $300... very disappointed

Bought the super lifejacket 888 for my girl friend this past Christmas and she has misplaced the charger. Cannot find one at Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart online. Have called and emailed Altecs customer support and they are of no use. Altec does not sell them on their website. I have just read a Q and A from Amazon and the answer was to go buy another $299.00 speaker. Stay away from this company!

Bought one in Vegas. Brought to Hawaii for vacation. One day use. Would not play. Connected to Bluetooth but never heard the welcome message. Called customer service. They said it was defective and the call was dropped. Bought a second one in Hawaii. Same thing!!! Obviously it’s a defective product. Ruined our 4th of July :/ 3 bores teens. No music.

This is the third call to customer support plus one unanswered email. Please read their response to my first review. It says to use a 16v adapter. Well I have tried three adapters one being universal and they do not work. Well I just got off the phone with customer support and he said to use a 12v adapter. The last customer support rep said take your speaker to multiple stores and have them try adapters until you find one. Well I'm sure businesses will be glad to open many packages to find one for you.! Altec's customer support do not have contact with Altec themselves, this is what a rep told me. Just find me a charger that will work customer support and I will gladly pay for it.

Speaker works okay. It looses a lot of volume when unplugged. My charger stopped working just outside of the warranty period. They were unable to sell me a charger or even give me a part number. "We do not deal directly with customers" was the line I was given. They could not even name a retailer that could supply the part either. Not trying to offend anyone, but the service Representative was obviously from overseas and I could not understand him. I expected more after dropping $300 on a speaker.

I was kicking around the purchase of this speaker for a few weeks now. When I seen it go on sale this week I finally pulled the trigger. I was really shocked that it uses an old power supply for charging. So after I gave it a full charge I paired it to my phone which was simple enough. I played a few different songs and also tried some talk shows. There is a constant crackle in the sound, not clear at all. I tried different devices, and even connecting from the aux cable, and still has the crackle. The audio quality is also sub par, the no-name one I bought from wall mart a few years ago out shines this!! I was hoping this would be a replacement/ upgrade but it looks like I was wrong. Also for the size, I would assume it can have some volume and get loud. It doesn’t.

Will not hold a charge for more then 3 hrs. Why cost so much when the product sucks

Very upset about my Life Jacket speaker. Just two weeks after purchasing the speaker it stopped working and won't charge or anything! When I went to warranty the speaker they said I had to pay the shipping fee and I needed a receipt which had gotten lost in my emails. Least helpful customer service department I've dealt with. I loved the speaker when I saw it at CES and loved it when it was working but the lack of customer service turns me off this brand and would not recommend dealing with them in the future.

I took a chance on this speaker because of the brand name and it worked great for about 2 or 3 months then it would not charge again. I contacted CS and they said I would need to send it in for repairs, that was at least six months ago and I have heard nothing back. This speaker is are very expensive, you would think it was last longer than a few months. I totally wasted my money.

The Super Lifejacket worked for one hour. It then would not produce any sound, including no power on sounds. I will be returning it for a refund. Maybe try a JBL instead.

I purchased this speaker in October 2017 and I’m now sending back a second speaker to the manufacturer. The speaker will not power on.
