The Aluratek Streaming Media Player, which says “streaming kit for TV” on the box, works very well, and it’s useful for far more than just listening to TV audio. The device can be used in two basic ways: as a Bluetooth transmitter to send pretty much any audio source to a Bluetooth-enabled speaker, headphone, or earbuds, or as a Bluetooth receiver to send audio from an audio source with a Bluetooth transmitter built in, such as a laptop computer, tablet, or smartphone, to an audio playback system, such as a conventional stereo receiver with speakers. In short, I look at this device as melding the old with the new.
The box contains the transmitter/receiver itself (which, with its two little antennas, looks like a miniature wireless modem), a pair of earbuds, and several cables (optical audio, mini-audio plug, RCA-jack to mini-plug adapter, and two USB power cables, one about six inches long and the other a more conventional three feet long). The unit does not have a battery, so it must be continuously connected to a power source to operate. There is no A/C adapter in the box, so if you want to power it from a wall socket (as opposed to a computer), you will need an adapter. There is no power switch on the unit. To power it up or down, you just plug it in or unplug it.
Setup was easy as I’ve found the case to be with pretty much any Bluetooth device I’ve worked with. In transmit mode, connect the media player to an audio source. I tried it with both the optical audio output on my TV and the stereo plug output on my satellite radio receiver. Just plug in the appropriate cable. Then set the switch on the media player to TX (transmit), connect the power cable, and the unit should automatically go into pairing mode. If it doesn’t, tap the Bluetooth button twice. Then press whatever button is necessary for pairing on your audio receiving device (I used a portable Bluetooth speaker), and the two units should pair almost immediately. I was listening to my TV’s audio or my satellite radio through the Bluetooth speaker in no time. I also paired the transmitter with the included earbuds and was listening through those without a problem.
In receive mode, connect the audio output jack on the media player to, say, an AUX input jack on your stereo receiver (this is where the RCA-jack adapter cable comes in handy), set the switch on the player to RX for receive, turn on Bluetooth on your audio source (I used my smartphone), plug in the media player, which puts in pairing mode), and it pairs to the audio source. I was listening to my smartphone’s audio through my vintage Marantz stereo receiver and vintage Advent speakers in no time.
In addition to transmit and receive, there is a third mode available, “bypass.” All this does is allow the device to act as a pass-through, so you can connect cables to both the min-plug input and output or optical audio plug input and output to connect devices in this way. In bypass mode, the Bluetooth capability is turned off. While this might not seem like much of a feature, it could be handy if you wanted to connect a device with an optical audio output, such as your TV, to a device with RCA-jack inputs, such as a stereo receiver, without the need of an adapter cable, if such a thing even exists for a situation like this.
This device does what it’s advertised to do very well. If you need any kind of Bluetooth audio connection, this device should be able to do it for you.

We upgraded our old LCD TV to this new LG OLED. There is quite the improvement. We are enjoying the new, larger picture as we went from a 50" to the 65".

Earbuds are discontinued due to connection problems. I should have thought something was up when I saw the deep discount price. After weeks of trying to get them to work I am now returning them to alurateck for a replacement.... And of course I will have to pay the shipping cost. And I can expect to receive the replacement earbuds in 4 to 8 weeks. All around bad experience, thanks Best buy....

An Uneven Offering

The Aluratek - ABCTWSKIT Streaming Media Player is an uneven offering.
PRO:
- The earbuds fit well and comfortably
- The charging case for the buds is on par with top bluetooth wireless offerings: compact and with a very helpful magnetic assistance for seating them in place.
- The unit comes pre-paired and is up and functioning immediately
- The earbuds connect readily with other bluetooth sources and can be used easily without the Transmitter base unit. I paired them with my AppleTV with no problems.
CON:
- Inexplicably, there is no power source provided for the transmitter base. It uses a micro-USB connection and includes the cable, but no charging/power block - and no mention of what should be done for power included in the instructions. I found an extra USB charger and it worked fine.
- The base unit can act as either a Transmitter or Receiver, as the need may be. However, the volume control on the base unit only works when in Receiver mode, not when being used as a Transmitter. There are also no volume controls with the earbuds. This means there is NO VOLUME CONTROL when listening via the TV sound output. For me it was acceptable when watching live TV, but when I began to listen to podcasts via my AppleTV the variation in volume output levels forced me to quickly take off the buds to protect my ears from blaring sound. After trying the volume controls on the TV and the AppleTV - and setting the internal TV to 'Audio Output', it was the same - except that I then got a notice from the TV telling me to adjust volume on the device (which, as I've said, it does not provide). This may be an anomaly with my TV, but it is a newer Samsung. A call to product support received a simple confirmation that the unit does not have volume control when in Transmitter mode.
- Audio quality is fair and lacks bass.
I like the 'pros' mentioned above, but the 'cons' make this product unusable for it's primary purpose (as displayed on the packaging).

For DUMB TVs NOT Smart TVs w/ Bluetooth!

Setup is Easy and everything is automatically paired to the base. It has three modes you can use including a bypass mode. This can either transmit or receive bluetooth audio and also bypass the device. There isn't a power source which is a HUGE disappointment. If you don't have a spare USB port on your TV or have a spare phone charger block you are out of luck. Overlooking something like powering a device is inexplicable! The earbud case is about the same size of cases of other bluetooth options on the market. In the charging case, there are magnets that easily align them for charging. They fit well and are lightweight with other ear tips to try . The range is good at just over 90ft in my test. The overall device construction is not that great with everything made of plastic.
Issues I experienced were mainly tied to trying to put these on a smart TV that has bluetooth already. It forced my TV and/or sound bar to BT mode both during initial setup and testing them individually. The ONLY way I was able to get sound was using the 3.5mm AUX port. This audio wasn't that great with all the noise picked up but it was sound nonetheless.
PRO:
-Secure and comfortable fit
-Magnetic charging case
-PRE-PAIRED to base
-Buds are easily connect to other bluetooth sources w/o base unit.
CON:
-NO POWER SOURCE PROVIDED!
-No Volume Control on Buds
-Audio quality just ok. NO BASS
In short, if you do NOT own a smart TV with bluetooth capability then BUY these. OTHERWISE, don't even waste a trip to the return line.

Amazing Streaming Audio Kit

The Aluratek - ABCTWSKIT Streaming Media Player gives you the ability to listen to your TV in outstanding audio quality without disturbing anyone in the room. It's great for those times when you are watching TV or gaming while your spouse is sleeping.
I love how clear the sound is using the supplied wireless (bluetooth) ear buds. They have great range as well. You can get up to go to the refrigerator or other areas of your home, within 100ft of the base, without losing the audio signal.
The volume range is spectacular. You can adjust the audio to a loud, but comfortable, level without any distortion whatsoever. The earbuds are really comfortable as well. You can use them for hours without any discomfort. They stay in my ears without having to readjust them, which is awesome.
The system is easy to setup. Just plug and play. The earbuds charge quickly, and hold a charge for hours.
I highly recommend the Aluratek - ABCTWSKIT Streaming Media Player

Quick Setup, Good Sounds

I’m really enjoying this Bluetooth streaming device and ear buds. I am able to sit wherever I want. I can be in the kitchen, family room or morning room and listen to the television without bothering others while they do their homework or talk on the phone, etc. Maybe I’m not “watching” the show but still want to hear the talking heads on the screen, this is perfect for that. If I want to put on music from my smart tv, I can do that also. The sound is good and only when I went upstairs and into one of the bedrooms did the sound begin to cut out. It claims 100 feet but most likely that is more than likely line of sight versus through walls.
You can connect this via an RCA cable, an aux cord or my preference, an optical cable. I feel that gives me the best sound and I haven’t noticed any lag between the sounds I hear to what I see on the screen. It’s a much crisper connection in my opinion.
The earbuds did last just about 5 hours. I didn’t wear them straight through but in total got to about that amount of time before putting them back into their case in order to charge them up again. The charging cable for the case is included of course. I’d say it was about an hour to an hour and a half to fully charge the case and it says you should get roughly three full charges on the ear buds from the case. My wife is not a big fan of football so the other nice feature that came in handy was that my son and I were able to pair a second set of headphones and both listen to the game without disturbing or annoying others!

The box contained a short document with instructions. The base unit, bluetooth headset, case, and cables. Straight out of the box the pheadphones needed to charged with the provided short usb cable.
The base was connected to the tv first with the audio cable, then with the optical cable. Per the instructions the headset should come out of the box paired with the base unit. The headphones were stuck in the activating mode in either configuration with the audio or optical cable. The headphones stayed blinking. The left ear bud had a steady solid light. The right earbud never paired or connected.
The instructions were not too clear and were a little sparse. It really should be plug and play according to the instructions however the the audio in/out plugs did not work, I tried switching around the cabling. As well as the on/off switch was a little difficult to find.
I attempted to sync the headphones one last time to another device to make sure it wasn't the connection on the tv. The earbuds stayed in an activating mode with the left one paired and the right one going from blue to red then turning off. Once back on the right earbud kept going blue and re and dd not pair.
I attempted to google to see if anything I found would help with the set up and was unable to find anything to resolve the issue.
I wish the deivce wored. It it light weight and sleek, the issue i had may have been a one off.

Good if you have a Old Non-Smart TV

First you need to know this is only useful if you have an old non-smart TV. The initial setup was easy with no problems. The earbuds are very comfortable and the sound is good for watching TV. When it is comes to music, the sound is not that great. I like that the case charges the earbuds. A big issue for my is that a micro USB cable was provided for charging, but no power plug.
