Wife has been wanting to watch local news and over the air channels. Have old tv and needed converter box. This was a lucky pick. Doubles as a cable dvr so my wife can record shows she wants and watch later. Easily worth $30

Cat knocked over TV broke coaxial cable input off tv Body. Hooked this up to coax and HDMI to TV works great with a little lag time to get synced.

Everything works as it should. My only gripe is the channel information displays way to long for my taste. When switching back and forth between NFL games you have a large gray box that blocks the bottom of the screen every time. Would be nice to have a setting to avoid this.

Works well, but programs stick if the unit has been on constantly. Need to be turned off over night.
Records well. Not sure if it can be downloaded to a computer since it has a PVR extension,
Better than some other boxes.

This item is now two years old. It was purchased for its DVR feature. It is subject to periodic random reboots and periodically loses track of crucial details of the programmed recordings to be made, resulting in scheduled recordings being missed. This unit uses an external hard disk (limited to 2TB) for it's storage. The disk is encrypted so that recordings cannot be copied off to other, larger media (likely by agreement with content creators).

We bought this to watch and record tv shows when the old converter box became obsolete-it works well but the playback graphics are choppy sometimes and the audio is louder than regular tv, I have to turn the volume up to 19 in order to hear. The best part, I can get some of the channels the living room tv doesn't get which is a very good thing.

This si advertised as a "dual receiver" digital TV converter box and DVR... that is a bold-faced LIE! I have had this unit for several months now, and wish I had returned it at the first sign of trouble. It claims that you can watch one channel while recording an other, which is not true. Unless you use the antenna signal pass-through to your compatible television, you cannot watch one thing and record another, be3cause this unit only has a single digital tuner, not a dual tuner as advertised. In addition to this shortcoming, the unit has proved to be very glitchy, frequently freezing and resetting. It often loses my favorite TV channel presets. The user interface is hardly intuitive, like the designers chose to assign functions to different buttons on the remote completely at random. I didn't expect a lot for the money, but I at least expected a product that would work as advertised, and I didn't even get that much!

A better instruction manual would sure help. It does the job, with many options, but I have to try to remember how I did it each time. For instance, I'm not sure how to start watching a program from the beginning that I am currently recording, or do I need to wait till the recording is completely finished before I can start watching it?

Setup and instillation instructions are somewhat confusing but can be managed via trial and error. Unit works fine initially, I can not talk about longevity.

You don't need to be a geek to set this device up. It quickly re-scanned my local stations frequencies, so I was watching my shows immediately. More channels than I had before. Great. I don't know about the recording performance because that is of no interest to me.

I originally bought this to use strictly as a converter but it works pretty well as a Video recorder. It has limitations like cannot play and record at the same time like a DVR and the remote must be aimed directly at the box.

I use it to record my favorite shows that I pick up from my TV antenna. The quality is superb. The electronic program guide (EPG) shows only few days ahead so this is a limitation.
But I can record on the fly, or use the EPG and select the show I want to record, I can also record a show and at the same time watch a different show on my TV screen . I do this by switching my TV input to the TV antenna.
Also, on occasion the box will get stuck and I need to re-boot it.
So not perfect, but for the price, the fact that there are no subscription fees and more importantly to me no need to create an account and register to a website, I give it 5 starts

although the instructions were /are a bit difficult; the unit decided to work inspite of the wrong buttons we were punching. all of a sudden it decided to auto search and find the channels and that was very smooth going. we are still trying to figure out what buttonss to push to delete saved shows, or rename them or even to navigate the various places to find thing's. we are old and disabled and find it a bit difficult. but i hope we will be able to figure it out. perhaps if your instructions were written for a third grader we could find it easier to navigate.

I was pleasantly surprised that this worked at this price point. It is an effective way to record over the air programs. The interface isn’t fancy, it would benefit from some simple improvements (12 hr time instead of military time for instance), but it works.

Not having a "smart tv" nor high speed internet prevents us from enjoying options to television viewing. This device was simple to install and gives us an alternate view of watching t.v. love being able to watch recorded shows.
Manual worthless. Too little print.

I bought this to replace my old Magnavox box that I bought when the conversion to digital happened. The quality of the picture is amazing! So happy I got this. So many more channels appeared! Also love the option of using it as a DVR.
