I was a bit skeptical at first but it set up easily and is really good for playing music. I can't wait to connect other devices to it to really explore it's capabilities. The Google home answers questions better but I like the echo for everything else.

Powerful and sound is improved. I have the gray one but already thinking number 3 might be the wood look . Love my Amazon Echo 2 !!!!

It’s seem to work fine right away out of the box. I still want to tie in some other things like lightbulbs and my phone amongst other things. So far though I’m finding it easy to use, very responsive to my voice commands and overall I am pleased.

Bought this a week ago, my wife and I have been wanting to try out how to make our home be part smart. After seeing a relative give us a demo of their Echo Alexa in their house, both of us were impressed!. Now we are going to purchase smart plugs and maybe upgrade some of our light switches to connect with Alexa now and really get the ball going with this unit. My only minor complaint is, sure I have read that Amazon has slowly brought other streaming services for Alexa to access, however my wife and I using iTunes it is still not fully accessible (or needs a bit of a workaround), for Alexa to play from what we have been trying to do (in our case since we have Bluetooth speakers already we will be solely using it to control outlets, switches, and access Amazon shopping). BUT if anyone has had no problems with doing that, Amazon should work more on this area so that it is fully seamless, at best still a work in progress!! OVERALL though great unit has growing features and capabilities up and coming, setup was easy to follow no problems. We're finally getting our home to plug into the "Smart Home Age"!!

I bought the Smaller Echo Dot a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. It was an amazing paper weight as I could not afford any smart home devices I could pair with it. It was great to ask it things like “Alexa, what time is it?” And “Alexa, will you go on a date with me!?” Although she rejected my date offer everytime, I always had faith in myself. NOW, I have the larger Echo and this thing has amazing sound for music! I have it paired with Philips HUE and it works flawlessly! Highly recommended product!

While it has a lot more things to come it already changes life at home. Playing music, controlling Hulu to pause and play without remote, grocery list for whoever goes to store, and keeping my schedule. I also have the dot at my office.

Wow, the speakers on this generation are amazing, such great quality. The sound is very rich, with lots of volume available.

The sound is pretty decent, considering the size of this unit. Much better than the Dots I own. Bought a 2nd one for my Dad.

Got this when they were on sale for buying multiple. The price point was awesome. I love being able to tell it what I want to listen to and having music start. I have started adding other smart items to the home as well. The ability to control lamps with my voice is fun. Controlling them remotely to mess with my wife is even better. I have purchased wifi plugs from different companies and Alexa has had no problems adapting to all of them. The sound on this is good but not mind blowing. It definitely doesn't compete with speakers intended only to be speakers but for the size it produces good sound. It has a decent amount of bass. It gets fairly loud. I wish there was a way to control some of the audio settings but who knows what functionality they will add down the line. Drop in is also a nice feature. Having different Alexa/Echo devices around the house has essentially created an intercom system. Add in the fact that you can drop in using your phone from outside the house and you've just created a way for your kids to contact you without needing a phone themselves.

I have the original and wanted a smaller size for my kitchen and this is perfect. Sounds just as good as the bigger one.

We had fun setting up automated lights/receptacles in whole house. Later my boys took over and created different groups and placed additional "smaller' echo units throughout the house to be able to control any light/receptacle group from any room in the house. No more lights left on, voice command is great. Added motion sensors for stairs, hallways - no need to look for the switch at night. Changing colors, dimming. Asking questions - weather, news, math, etc. HAVE FUN!

I bought one and i have it in my room. I also have an Ecobee with Alexa and while that is fine it is not a substitue for the real thing. I have mostly used the Echo for music and checking the weather. I have only once experimented with using it to read my texts to me. My daughter likes to ask Alexa for jokes so it is become a family staple for entertainment. I would say the audio quality has gotten better but if your an audiophile then you might need to look elsewhere.

When Amazon introduced the first Echo Dot (the small hockey puck shaped version of the Echo), I picked one up used it to start my journey into making my home a "smart" home. The Echo easily ties into and controls smart outlets (Alexa, turn off the Christmas lights. OK), the temperature (Alexa, increase the temperature to 72, OK), or control the lawn irrigation system, tell me if the garage door is open, etc. I like music, and this Echo provides better sound quality compared to the original Echo Dot that I have. (Alexa, play soothing background music. OK, here is a playlist of background music). The ability to provide info and settle arguments is another plus. (Alexa, who won the Super Bowl last year. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41 to 33 in Super Bowl 52.) The Echo is easy to set up and connect to your home Wi-Fi via the Alexa app. I think every home with a Wi-Fi internet connection should have a smart speaker, and my experience is the Echo is a perfect choice.

I purchased this at the pre-order price and had a nice Reward Zone certificate so got this at a very nice price. An upgrade from my Dot, the sound quality on the Echo 2 is amazing. Have not been disappointed with the sound quality playing music. Linked some of my I-tunes music to Amazon Music Library. Added a smart plug to turn on light in the evening before I get home.

I was hesitant to purchase this second generation after reading several reviews critical of sound quality. However after discovering Amazon had released a firmware update that improved the sound quality I decided to give it a try. At first the sound quality was horrible, but after about 20 minutes the new firmware was downloaded and installed the sound improved greatly. Personally I think it sounds better than the original Echo. Well worth the money.
