Very responsive, better compatibility and audio
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a second gen Alexa puck, this was a huge improvement over it and much better compatibility with Zigbee products (for smart home light communication platform). There’s a bit more bass and “oomph” to the audio, and there is a very noticeable and faster response times. I used to have a lot of consistency issues controlling smart lights, but this new Alexa device now makes it work flawlessly.

I recommend third gen over fourth gen.

The mic array is hard at hearing you, you have to almost yell for it to hear you with moderate background noise. The third generation does not have this problem, due to the mic array being in the open and uncovered. The notification led is almost unseeable, unless you are in a dark lit environment. The sound is slightly better, but not immediately noticeable compared to the third generation. Overall, I recommend the third generation echo dot, over the fourth generation.

I didn't manage to connect to the power sockets, though (the one I bought appears to be not compatible.
