This should have been made a long time ago. If you have an Amazon echo dot 4th or 5th generation this is a must buy. It should have been made a long time ago. You can still see the light ring on the bottom there are holes although i wish it would have been more of them or a see through plastic in that area. The battery lasts 5-6 hours which is not bad . You can take it with you around the house which i do. Since i have only 2 outlets in the kitchen i bring the echo dot there now that i have the battery. I can also take it to the backyard which is nice since i have my doorbell camera synced with the echo dot i can hear the doorbell outside through the echo dot. Another good thing about this is that it raises the height of the echo dot another 2- 3 inches . This can be bad for some, but i like it since i have the clock version of the echo dot. Only a few things they could improve on like i mentioned before about the light ring on the bottom of the echo this battery its covered up a bit too much. I also wish it had a bigger battery like 10 hours at least because if you play it on max volume it uses more power for those reasons i have to give it 4 stars

Didn’t last a day. Had hoped to leave an echo dot in a room without access to an outlet. This item does not last a day when the dot wasn’t even being used.

With a houseful of various Echoes, music, information, and smart home activity is all over the place, including the garage. When I want music on the deck, I get it using a Bluetooth connection between the Echo 10 in my living room and a paired speaker. For the most part that works, but the overall control functionality is missing. This new Mission Battery Base for the Amazon Dot has made that issue go away. By pairing it with the Dot 5th Gen currently in my garage, I have 100% Echo mobility anywhere I want it. This base is the perfect solution. A major advantage afforded is complete portability for a long period of time. The first time I used it for any length of time, the Dot had been on battery for about 10 hours, and it still had juice. The “feed me” light was blinking. During that period, several hours were music. The rest of the time was to satisfy curiosity about its performance. The battery is promoted as having a 5-hour capability on a full charge, and I find no reason to doubt it. So long as you have Wi-Fi to connect to Alexa, it will work a long time anywhere. That is terrific! The base is sturdy and well designed for the Dot to fit into. You would have to hit it very hard to knock it over. Speaking of “hitting” the Dot, I have read some bashing complaints of the Dot stopping music or whatever else is going if it got bumped. Perhaps they were unaware that the newer Dot Gens have a “pause” function that is performed by tapping the Dot’s surface. Tap again to resume. In pause mode, a lighted pause icon (II) appears on the surface. That said, the tap does need to be firm to make pause/un-pause work. Of course, you can always tell Alexa to do it for you. She’ll be glad to help. The only thing that bothers me about this base is the connector wire between device and base is quite short. I found it difficult getting both ends connected through the slot in the base. If the wire were even 1/8” longer, it would have made the job so much easier for my “old” hands to accomplish. With that, “set up” would have been a snap. It was annoying, but it wasn’t enough to cost a star. It is said that good things come in small boxes, and that is certainly true as to this battery base. It really does expand the usefulness of 4th and 5th Gen Dots.

The battery base for the Echo Dot is a great addition to the Echo Dot. The setup is simple. Unplug the power supply to your Echo Dot and plug it in to the battery base. There is a short jumper cable supplied with the battery base, that is plugged into the second port on the battery base on one end and the Echo Dots power port on the other. The Echo Dot sits attached to the battery base and may be used as it always has been. The battery base charges and supplies power to the Dot while plugged in. When unplugged, the battery base is rated to provide power for 5 hours. We have 6 Echo Dots of different generations and several other Alexa enabled devices (TV, soundbars...) around the house and have become used to asking questions and playing music from Amazon Music Unlimited in most of our home but now, with the battery base, we can effortlessly bring Alexa outside. We have used the battery base while sitting in our front courtyard, while gardening and in the back while grilling. It is great to be able to just unplug the Dot and take it with us around the yard. Our EERO system reaches everywhere we have taken it around our house and yard and, while I haven't set it up yet, I understand that the 5th generation Dot can extend the EERO WiFi coverage. We both love the portability that the battery base provides. I will get a second one so that I can have one in the front courtyard and one on the back patio for when we have a crowd.

I have the echo dot with the clock, and it serves as my primary clock for the morning rush, where it sits at the kitchen table while the kids get ready for.. whatever they do every day. There is no plug right there and it works nicely in the middle of the table for news radio, telling my kid the score of the game, asking the weather, and all the other basics families use Alexa for. We have a minimalist kitchen, and my wife doesn’t allow any gadgets. So every morning, I unplug this and carry it to the kitchen on my way down, where it lasts well into the night, depending on if anyone left it on. Not many people likely have a use case for a battery powered Alexa, I’d assume, but if you do, this should fit the bill. It functions as an Alexa should. It comes with a little adapter that plugs into the Alexa and into the battery. Then you use the original plug in the back of the battery. Pictures online show it going straight down but if you want the dot to look straight, the wire is diagonal. Which is totally not an issue. The real issue is there’s no off switch. It would be nice to be able to turn it off without fiddling with the plugs. Otherwise, it’s nice. When Alexa is muted, the bottom glows red through the cutout rings and the audio sounds perfect because nothing is blocked. Definitely worth a look if you need battery powered Alexa for some reason.

This is a great accessory for your amazon echo dot. Definitely an item that I wasn't sure I needed but once I got it, I've been using it more than I thought. Opening the box you will get the base, a small connector that connects the base to the dot and a set up guide. It was pretty straight forward so I didn't really even look at the guide. Just line up the dot with inputs in the back of the base and plug in the connector. Then plug in the usb to the base and let the base charge for a bit. First thing I noticed is that I really like how the base and the dot looked together. Didn't look awkward or funny like I thought it might. Second, it gave the dot a much more stable stance. Third and most importantly, I didn't find any distortion from the speaker when it was on the base. I was worried that I would hear some vibrations, but no, even at the highest volume, it was fine. One of the best uses I got was because I have a Ring video doorbell, when I'm in the backyard with this unit near me, I can hear the ring announce when someone is at the front door. Very cool. I really like having the mobility of taking my dot anywhere around the house. I love that I can do yard work and have it right next to me and having all the abilities of Alexa with it. This is a great accessory and a definite must have.

We are big fans of the battery base for the Amazon Echo Dot. It was incredibly easy to set up. At a glance, I wasn't sure if the connector would be painful to get connected, but of course it was perfectly designed for this purpose and connecting easily. At first, my 11 year old wasn't sure there was much purpose for a battery base, but when I started explaining some of the different ways he could use it, his face lit up. It's incredibly easy to use. You keep it connected so it stays charged and disconnect when you are on the move. My son likes to have it in the bathroom for music while he showers. He also moves it around the house for entertainment when he's not in his room. He's also a big fan of bringing it into another room and using the echo in the room so that he can create surround sound for a dance party. It's been great. I would highly recommend it as an addition to your Amazon product line. The device is durable and of the quality you would expect for Amazon devices. We look forward to continuing to find additional ways to expand our echo's footprint now that we have the battery base.

The Echo Dot Battery Base is a very useful accessory for your little Echo Dot. The Echo Dot fits snugly into the base which is designed to allow access to the power connections. You get a small jumper cable included with the battery base. The installation is intuitive but instructions are included if you want to ensure you make the connections correctly. Once completed your power will come into the battery base so you can disconnect it at anytime and move the Echo Dot coupled with the battery base to the kitchen or patio or any other convenient location – no muss and no fuss. You have a couple little LEDs to show you the charge status. One LED will turn off when fully charged and the other one will come on when you need to recharge the base. I noticed the battery base design is minimalist and looks very nice when coupled up with your Echo Dot. Also very important, when you play music through the Echo Dot, there is no vibration or distortion – nice going Amazon engineers. I definitely recommend this battery base that makes perfect sense as an addition to your Echo Dot to add even more portability.

I found the Amazon - battery base for the 4th and 5th generation Echo Dot to be a handy addition to the Echo turning it into a portable device. Upon unboxing the device I attached it and plugged in to charge the base with the included adapter. After about 5 hours of charging, I disconnected to the power cable to make it portable. The box advertised that it provided up to 4 hours of wireless power for the Echo Dot. I left the device playing Apple Music for the dogs while I went into the office and ran some errands. When I came back 5 hours later it was still playing so it seems that it provided even more power than advertised. The only negative that I found of the device was that it does not have a power level indicator so you do not know how much "juice" is left in the device. I would certainly hope that they add that in the next release of the unit. I would recommend this little device to anyone who wants the convenience of being able to move the Echo Dot around or use it outside. It is not as heavy as I expected that it would be.

This is one of those things that I wish I knew about long ago. Of course the sound quality is something I love about my echo dot and one of the major drawbacks is not being able to bring it with me room to room or out to the garage while I work on my car. This solves that problem. The one thing I have to say right off the bat is that the battery life is not that great I expected more out of it and thats the only reason I rated it at 4 stars. It only lasts about 3-5 hours max depending on what you’re doing etc. However if you have it “idle” it will last about 10 or so hours which to me personally I expect something like this to provide at least 8 hours of music and say 24 hours idle time it kind of defeats the purpose of having this bases battery ability imo. Regardless again the use for me is excellent I can now bring my dot out to the garage with me and not have to worry about plugging back in and reconnecting to wifi and everything it just makes it a seamless situation which is much appreciated. I honestly would use my phone before because I do a lot of work in my garage and thought about just buying another dot but im too lazy to be bothered with another setup (lol). This I can just take the cable out and walk with it to go work and walk back and plug it back in and all is well. Sturdy base, feels good, the connection seems like it may fatigue over time but again time will tell there. For now it works perfectly.

Have you ever wanted to just simply bring your Echo Dot outside or move it to another room for a few hours? Has the thought of having to reach around or behind things to unplug it, bring it to another room, plug it back in and wait until it links back up to your WiFi make you think twice about doing it? This is just the thing you need! Make sure you have a 4th or 5th generation Echo Dot. This will not work with earlier versions of the Echo Dot. This is a simple, easy to use battery pack/stand for your Echo Dot that can make it portable. You can also use it as a plug-in stand for your Dot while not in use transporting to a location without access to a plug. I love being able to listen to my music or just simply ask a question when I am outside and this makes it easy to do. When I have friends sitting with me on my patio and they ask a question we don’t know the answer to, I just turn to the Dot and find the answer to their question. While watching the hummingbirds we had a lot of questions and learned a lot about them. I think the neighbors enjoyed it as much as I did. Set up of this battery pack is very easy. You will place your Dot into the battery base, making sure the cutout on the battery base aligns with the power outlet of the Dot. Plug the power adapter/jumper, which was loose in the box, into the left side of the battery base and the power outlet of the Dot. You will plug your power adapter for the base into the right side of it and then into an outlet for charging. After charging you simply unplug the power adapter from the base of the battery base/stand and you are now ready to take your Dot anywhere. I like that there is a rubber base on the bottom of the battery stand. The rubber makes sure your Dot is not sliding around on a counter or table. I have been able to bring this out to my garden area to listen to a podcast while gardening. I have had this out on the patio for music while hosting a party. You can bring your Dot as far as your WiFi reaches. I have found this battery pack makes my Echo Dot very versatile on how I use it. I think this is a wonderful thing to have. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to take their Echo Dot with them just about anywhere around their home.

you need a 4th or 5th generation amazon echo dot for this to work, so I was interested to see how this would work, since I have both generations at home now. It comes in black and white, so I chose the black one, to match my 4th gen echo dot, and connected it and plugged it in to charge. it has kind of an unusual way of connecting to and charging the echo dot, but once I looked at a couple of photos, it made more sense to me. Charged it for the recommended time, and then unplugged it and took it outside. It worked exactly the same as the device works when plugged in, so its a nice way to have an assistant with you anywhere you go, it also works as an auxiliary speaker, via wifi or Bluetooth, so that's a nice thing to be able to do, if you don't own any other portable battery powered speakers. The only downside is the lack of battery charging indicators on the front, so you could tell at a glance how much battery is left when you are finished using it, so you should get in the habit of plugging it in when done to keep it topped up. nice little add on for the echo dot!
