My kids go through tablets like they're crayons!....Worn power port. Cracked screen. You name it. My daughter in particular has had 2 Samsung tablets before winning an Amazon Fire in a competition. When THAT one failed (yes, 3rd tablet if you're keeping count), I was looking to replace it right away before a holiday trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the price point. I already knew it would have everything my daughter needed (memory, functionality, the apps she was accustom to) since she already logged almost a year on the other one. So, getting it at a price significantly less than the comparable Samsung tablet was a big win for me. A bonus was I was able to get it in plum....an "upgrade" from the plain old black casing. Made it more "feminine" looking for my little princess. As for functionality, so far so good....it's been on 3 family trips, endured 6 TSA screenings, a couple of table drops onto carpet (note: while in its case), and still working fine. Setup is easy for this device....especially if you already have an amazon account. Parental controls are easy to understand and maneuver also. I'm not prepared to give 5 stars yet, as it's too soon. I'll check back after a few months and update, once we've logged some serious hours on it. But honestly, even if it only lasts a year, I would have gotten my money's worth. Incidentally, that is why I didn't bother fixing the other Fire she had (which would no longer charge). For just a little more than what I'd pay for replacement of the power port, I could get a new tablet.

I was looking for a book reader device and searched the web to compare Fire 7 to Fire 8. Many sources suggested buying Fire 7. I did. My suggestion is: go for Fire 8! Not only the screen is bigger but the quality is better. But Fire 7 is great if you need a tablet with many possibilities for a low price. The default screen includes content pages for books, games, apps, video, music, audiobooks, etc.

I read a lot so I thought I wanted a Kindle, treated myself & was disappointed. Wanting something small I decided to try this 7”tablet to use as a reader. It is comfortable to hold for long periods of time. For me reading is fun again. I’m happy with my decision

Had to have one of my tablets replaced twice because the screen would stop working and currently isn’t

Great for the kids , has parental controls that work well for the most part. Supports the normal streaming services , Netflix, Disney plus etc . We used it on a 19 he drive and was better than any DVD player as it has games and books plus more . Multiple profiles are available, which allows you to seamlessly switch between kids version and adult . All this is password protected.

I bought this tablet for myself for Christmas! I haven't had a tablet before this and I enjoy reading novels, so I bought this for Kindle. For what I am using it for it is perfect! I take it in the car with me on trips, and I happily read my novels! Sometimes, I watch a movie or listen to music as well!

The overall cost to quality ratio is great. Yeah, it’s a little underpowered and filled with Amazon’s apps. Yeah, you’re not going to use it as a productivity device. Yeah, the UI is kind of ugly. But it’s a very functional consumption device. It’s small enough to take almost anywhere. Doesn’t have proprietary charging cable. And if you break it, you can buy another.

I was researching for a tablet. Discovered Amazon Fire 7 had same features as more expensive tablets. 16 GB of storage is more than I needed. It became my first choice. It's a great tablet does it all including audio books, mail accounts, streaming, etc. Worth the buy and you get value for your money. It's a good investment in your personal entertainment.
My daughter loves it! Very easy to use and charge!

We purchased this Amazon 7 tablet for our 4 year old granddaughter and she had no trouble using it to watch videos that we downloaded for her. We set up parental control so she will not get to a site she shouldn't. So far we have not had any issues with this tablet.

I bought this to use as a reader to carry with me to appointments, meetings, etc. It's size is perfect to carry around in a purse or backpack. I use it only for reading since I have an iPhone and an iPad for all the other things I could do on here. The processor is a bit slow for other things, but will work if you have access to WiFi.

I have a laptop & a smartphone, but I needed an extra screen to view Zoom meetings, lectures, links, etc. This tablet is the perfect addition! So far I use it for my university portal, Netflix, Hulu, Twitch, & Outlook email. Gave it 4 stars because you can’t download Microsoft Word which is kind of inconvenient. However you can use microsoft office .com (or something like that) & use Word that way. There are a few apps you can’t dowload unless you troubleshoot it using your computer (idk how but there’s YouTube videos on this). You can use the website versions tho; for example you can’t download the Chase Bank app, but you can easily go on chase .com. The battery runs out a bit faster than expected. It’s not bad as long as you have an outlet in your work/study station. Try to get a case for it because it can be a bit slippery & it’s better for your screen to stay proctored when it’s not in use. Definitely purchase the $15 Geek Squad 1-year protection!
