Amazon Fire HD8 is a good tab at this price. It's light in weight, easy to use and serves a good purpose for browsing and reading. But if you are looking for a good camera or a tab for video calling, this is not the right choice for you

This little tablet was purchased during a moment of weakness. I really wanted a Kindle reader. But this has exceeded my needs for a fraction of the price. I can read and listen to books PLUS a ton of other things (including browse on wifi). The "offers" show as lock screens and notifications and can be ignored or dismissed easily and make the device price of under $50 (during a promo) very reasonable! Speed is decent, storage upgradable with MicroSD, and feels like a book in a folio-style case. PERFECT! Note: I have other higher-end productivity tablet devices, also. This WILL NOT replace them or do all they can do. Entertainment, internet browsing and leisure is what this was purchased for and I'm pleased.

This is definitely much easier to use and has better memory than the previous Amazon tablets. The screen size is nice and it has a pretty decent resolution. Our son has an older version, which wasn't bad and I also had a previous version, so we like the Amazon family of products. On my old one, however, our daughter dropped it and cracked both the case and the screen. A case for protection is a must!

I couldn't believe the black Friday deal on this kindle.$49.00 and it's an upgrade from my old one . Faster speed, longer lasting battery, larger screen. Who could ask for more! Thanks Best Buy!

When I picked up my Fire I expected it to be a budget tablet at best, maybe useful just for reading and surfing the web. I was pleasantly surprised at just how powerful it is. I play a lot of games, and they all run absolutely flawlessly on this tablet - even the more graphics-intensive ones. Combine the fact that it was incredibly cheap with the ability to expand the memory, and I cannot imagine a better tablet I could get for the money. Most of the similarly priced tablets are cheap knockoffs or unknown brands with really chintzy build quality; this one honestly compares with the Galaxy Tab S from 2-3 years back, which was a beast at the time.

So happy with my new fire and I wish I had bought more! Some of the PROS of this tablet are it has Alexa, Memory expansion slot, and a nice size. At 8 inches it is the perfect size to take on the go and Ebook . It is a little thicker than some of the more expensive tablets on the market but because of this it seems more durable especially for kids. The apps and games seem to run smoothly and the colors are good on screen. I install the Google Play store and Connect to the google play store to download apps is easy, like youtube. Without the Google Play store you will stuck with the Amazon store and apps.

I've purchased a total of 7 of these for my children ages 5-12. Below are the pros and cons based on our experience. Pros: 1. Price: It's a pretty sturdy tablet, with surprising performance, given the $49 entry level price. 2. Apps: There's a great selection of apps available at a reasonable price. Outside of the more popular games, our kids have taken a liking to the "Learning Games" series. They have "Kindergarten Learning Games" all the way up to the sixth grades version. 3. Alexa: It makes sense that Amazon would add support for their flagship AI at some point, and it works well. Cons: 1. Storage Hog: We noticed that every child's tablet was using the same amount of storage regardless of what they actually had installed on it. When you use Amazon's "Freetime Unlimited" it caches every child's profile, and shares it across every device. This chews up storage space quickly if you have multiple children. 2. Browser: The browser only became an issue when we learned (the hard way) that it isn't supported by the Wi-Fi on planes. Overall not a bad device, just a few kinks.

This is a Great Tablet if you are interested in a Non Android Tablet. Keep in mind you will not have the typical Android Apps. Google and Amazon are competetors and Google Mail, The Google Play Store, and YouTube are not available as standard equipment. I was able to side load Google onto this tablet and it works great. It is a fast tablet. This tablet is sold as a Fire HD Tablet With Ads. The tablet starts up with an advertisement every time. It is sold that way. You can buy one on Amazon called Fire HD Without Ads for $15 more.

Now, I didn't expect this to be an amazing tablet, but people were generally saying it was snappy enough. I wanted a media tablet. Something I could use late at night to watch YouTube videos or an episode of my favorite show while laying in bed. I also like it for online shopping so I don't have to hold a laptop but am not looking at my phone screen. PROS: Tablet exceeded my expectations. It's great for media. I use this more than my phone and my laptop now. It's snappy, I was able to complete my homework for online classes, watch videos from CNN and other tasks without too much struggle It can be a general purpose tablet. HEED MY WARNING doing the following may void your warranty with Amazon, I'm not sure. But I installed the Google play store on my fire HD 8 and now have access to a huge selection of apps. I decided to do this after finding there was no good YouTube app from Amazon's app store. Because fire OS is basically Android with a heavy skin on it, everything runs perfectly as you can see from the pictures. SOUND IS FANTASTIC!!!! Did I say that loud enough? Yes they are still tablet speakers, no they won't fill your whole room with bumping bass but MY GOSH these are some GOOD tablet speakers. Better than my $900 smartphone, $1000 laptop and $500 iPad. What I'm trying to say is, the speakers are way better than the price point would suggest. Bravo Amazon. CONS: Ram is lacking. Doesn't excel in multitasking, drops tasks while you're away even if it was the last thing you were doing. It does this randomly however, and it's not always a problem. When it is it's very annoying. Screen is meh. It's good enough to not be a bother but coming from a 4k laptop and AMOLED display on my Google pixel XL, the screen is lacking. To the standard user, I don't think it will be noticeable though, and looks pretty good. Case and screen protector selection are sad and limited. Hopefully that changes soon as this tablet was just released this month. Cameras are useless. Not what I bought the tablet for so it didn't bother me one bit, but don't buy it for the cameras, a potato could take better photos. CONCLUSION: So overall I adore this tablet. I use it every day and now that I can have my Google apps and such on it, it is a fully functional Android tablet. It's wonderful, suits my needs, and hasn't disappointed me yet. Highly recommend.

I’ve always been an Apple/iPad user and just was curious about trying out a cheaper tablet that I could beat up and not worry too much about breaking. At this price point you get what you pay for. A passable screen and perfect for anyone with Amazon Prime. Too bad it’s not the “typical” android device with the google play store but there are ways around it. Great if you want a taste of something different and a budget tablet for using Amazon Video, Books, and other Amazon media.

This thing is great the display is incredibly sharp. My wife has gone thru 5 tablets and 3 cellphones in the last 2years. She loves the fire hd 8. The battery lasts her all day and she's on it alot. Easily navigated and VERY user-friendly. Would definitely recommend this to family and friends, even complete strangers! The only complaint....screen share or mirroring needs to be included in the features. Otherwise AWESOME TABLET!!!!!!

The Kindle HD8 is a Fantastic Tablet for the money. The user interface is very smooth and intuitive. Some folks complain that they cannot get all the apps they want, but everything I have looked for has been available. I think the speed and screen quality seem better than what you would think at this price point. It is a little thicker and heavier than the top end tablets, but at this price - a very good trade off.

I got this Kindle Fire 8" on sale at Best Buy. It is a great tablet for the price. I chose this over the 7" because of the size plus the additional internal memory. You can also add a micro sd card to store music, video, books, etc. Most apps will need to use the internal memory. I wish Kindle tablets came with the Google Play store. You can add this yourself if you do a Google search for the instructions.

I had the Fire 7 at first but the speakers werent loud enough. Took it back and got the Fire 8.Was a nightmare to try and get the internet to work. Spent 12 hrs trying..gave up and returned it. Got another one and it worked great. The first one had issues. Nice clear screen, very fast and easy to use. The sale price was a super buy for $49 (reg $79).You wouldn't go wrong buying this tablet.

This is great for the price, especially if you already use Amazon prime for nearly everything! It's a great way to get a tablet for a younger kid and use Freetime to restrict content. I previously owned the 7" 8gb models and thought they were total garbage, but the larger 8" and 16gb model has been a totally different experience! I would highly recommend this model over the 7" one!

This is a light tablet. It has great battery life and is great for traveling.

It's still a Kindle. It's main purpose is to be a device that pushes Amazon content on you. It's not a replacement for an iPad or any other "real" tablet. That said, Amazon has finally created a well designed, lightweight device that is snappy and feels great in your hands. The cover is also well done. This is the Kindle that should've been 6 years ago. Oh well.

I was looking to buy this tablet for long time. But I waited till thanksgiving and grabbed it in just $49. This tablet is a budget tablet and is great in its functioning. I got 16 gb model and its really good for storing all the apps and photos. Screen is HD and display is good (not excellent compared to apple or samsung). But you will find it okay for entertainment purposes. Good for small budget.
