Never thought I would but a kindle because I love hard copy books but this device is an amazing way to collect books save on space. I can also buy magazines and games. I am so glad I made this purchase. I have been watching movies on it. I own an iPad but want a decide just for reading and it what it's known for. Run out and buy!!

I bought the new Kindle Fire HD 8 as a gift for someone without any tablet experience. Before giving it to my friend, I familiarized myself with the revised interface and downloaded apps of interest. We then met and spent a couple of days educating/practicing how to accomplish basic functions. She then took it home to use on her own. When she got stuck on something, she called me for phone support. Previously, she had been afraid of making a mistake, but I told her that's how you learn. After a couple of weeks, she's now comfortable with "looking around" and is actually having fun with her new Kindle! The only complaint that I have is that there is no longer a Mayday button to contact Amazon Kindle Support. Although you can call the support number, it is NOT INTUITIVE OR USER FRIENDLY like it was in prior versions.

I love my fire HD 8. I didn't think I would ever like an e-reader but this is so convenient ..... I don't know what I did before I got it. I'm downloading magazines, books, music. so much better than my laptap! My only regret is that I have to be by a WIFI network. too bad it can't connect on it's own.

Bought this for my mother to upgrade from her Nook that is 3 years old. She is 75 yrs old and at first it was hard for her to get used to it but, as she continued with it she now LOVES using it. Considerably lighter, faster and easier for her to manipulate from reading to FB and surfing the web. The only PROBLEM we found with it is the SOUND. It will stop working on it's own which is really frustrating for my mother. After researching further I am finding out that it is a FLAW in the Fire HD's and that is a problem shared by many users/owners. Amazon really needs to take a serious look and it and create an update to fix it. Other than that, she LOVES HER FIRE HD.

I had a Kindle before, and it fell in the water. I thought I wasn't going to be happy with this new one, but I love it. I like how they updated it and it is so much easier to use.

Screen is clear and crisp, images come through great. If you have Amazon Prime then this is definitely the perfect tablet to have. You will have access to planty of free movies and tv included with Amazon prime. Games and web browsing make this an overall quality tablet at a reasonable price.

Love the Kindle fire and would recommend it to friends. It I s easy to operate and user friendly. It is easy to get emails and check my Facebook. I do like being able to down load a. Great variety of books.my grand daughter loves to play her favorite games on the Kindle too.

I purchased this Kindle for my husband who was not a fan of any type of ereader. I'm so happy that I did! He has really enjoyed having it! He loves the fact that he can shop for a book and when he finds one, he can start reading it in seconds. It was well worth the money!

Happy with it and have read several books and watched movies with it. It was a replacement for an old Kindle that was still working but could not do as much as the fire. Only complain that I have is on my old one I was able to play a game called Every Word and the Fire cannot.

took awhile to learn but love the thin and powerful app and it is so lite .I can carry in my wife purse,as this was a present to her.

The FireHD8 has a built-in microphone and dual speakers. The battery life is as good as other tablets. This is a good starter tablet and has sharp screen pictures.

i upgraded from another version of a kindle fire and i made a great choice. better, faster,cleaner screen. what can a say it's a must have for any love readers

A few years ago, I bought a KINDLE PAPER WHITE as my "Xmas present to myself." I absolutely LOVE my Kindle White and take it everywhere. I used to carry 2-3 heavy books with me and the Paper White enabled me to carry 50 books. A few weeks ago, I decided to UPGRADE TO THE KINDLE FIRE HD 8. I wanted to be able to look for restaurants; directions; get email -- all the things a TABLET does in addition to READING E-BOOKS. I LOVE MY NEW KINDLE FIRE HD 8 EVEN MORE THAN THE PAPER WHITE. Everything about it is better: it's faster; memory is larger; it's easier to see, the screen is larger, the color is vivid and it's a GREAT TABLET. I bought a case including a little keyboard and can search for books; watch you-tube videos, send emails and more. Lots of people have more expensive tablets. But the KINDLE FIRE HD 8 does everything you need and is compact and easy to carry. If you've loved your PAPER WHITE, but you've had it for awhile, you might be ready to STEP UP TO THE KINDLE FIRE HD 8! You won't be sorry! Now, I keep my PAPER WHITE IN THE BATHROOM FOR IMPORTANT "PRIVATE" READING MOMENTS. Hah! MY NEW KINDLE FIRE HD 8 NOW GOES EVERYWHERE WITH ME!

I started out with a Kindle with its 3G and Wifi capability. Used mainly for reading and putting work documents on. Unforutately it started to fail and I had to let it set or upgrade. I am glad that I did. What an improvement over the one before. THANK YOU.

Bought it as a birthday present for my wife. She couldn't be happier. She has read books, watched movies and taken some amazing photos on it. The picture quality matches with tablets twice it's price. As the title of my review states, 'Worth Every Penny'!

Bought it for her last Christmas and she likes it very much. Has several features she really appreciates: larger text when necessary, sepia background at night and easy download of books. She occasionally uses it on trips to access her email.

Thin and light, has wireless ac and a fascinating program named FireFly that you need to check out. The tablet holds it own with my Ipad and Insignia tablets. I love it and take it everywhere!

I bought this tablet for my girlfriend who is kind of a tablet novice. She loves it for watching shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime. The screen is acceptably good, the sound is really good and the ability to add a micro SD card is nice. The widescreen ratio makes it nice in that you don't have the large black bars you normally get when watching movies on a 4:3 orientation tablet. For the price I have to say it is a great buy, Should you compare it to a $400 iPad Mini it is not as good. The display pales in comparison. That being said, the HD8 is 1/3 the price of the base Apple.

This is the second one that has been purchased ~ was happy with the first one and did not look at any other options. Love the features and the price!

Really convenient format, light, easy to use and easy to read. Some features, like blue light reduction, a little hard to find but very beneficial. Some Android apps don't have full functionality on this unit but has not been a hindrance so far.
