My wife and I bought this for our daughter

As parents, the kid-safe virtual environment the Kindle Fire Kids Edition has allows us to be worry-free while they are online or in one of the apps. Also, the Kindle allows parents to fully customize the time children spend in apps, on games, watching videos, etc. The colorful protective casing makes next to impossible to damage the Kindle if/when she drops it. Normally, my wife and I would not buy a screen product for our children, but in this day and age, it's normal to have one, so we practice limiting screen time to road trips and other instances when we need the children distracted in long, uncomfortable settings.

A better choice for your kids/grandkids.
