I bought two of these for my children and they have been huge disappointments. All of the pre-loaded software was deleted and they are very confusing to use.

I purchased this because the Samsung kid tablet that we owned had battery issues. Took a while to get used to. My child exceeded the memory by downloading everything on the apps page. Will purchase anecessary SD card in the future.

Absolutely no good without internet access. Also, no one told me that I would be subscribing to Amazon Prime for a charge of $100.

    Keep Your Expectations Very Low

I bought this to replace a 2014 Fire 8gb. The only reason I did was because 8gb is way too small and my kids are constantly asking me to help them delete apps so they can download new ones through Kindle Freetime. This one has an SD card slot where apps can be automatically downloaded to. Unfortunately the device has so many other issues that I'd rather hold on to the 2014 model and live with the limited space. Not all apps are available on the new Kindle. My son was looking for a specific game through Freetime that he liked to play on the old Kindle and we could not find it. Amazon support simply hung up on me after they couldn't figure it out. The navigation bar does not auto hide correctly. It displays all the time on a normal or kids profile which is very distracting. In most apps the navigation bar would not hide and we were forced to play with a black bar at the bottom of the screen. The 2014 model does not have this issue and Amazon support had no answer for this either. I understand it's a cheap tablet, but potential buyers should know the screen is the absolute worst. I thought last years model was pretty poor but compare the two side by side and it's easy to see the new one has a much lower PPI, poor color reproduction, and serious light bleed issues. Games that play fine on the 2014 model will stutter and freeze on the new one. This was the last straw for me and made me realize this device is a serious downgrade over last years model. I give it two stars instead of one because if you can ignore all these issues and and just wanna cheap tablet for your kids to break then it may work for you. For me it was just far too frustrating.

    Perfect Tablet for Kids

With 3 tough boys from the ages of 3, 6, and 9--this tablet has held up in tug of war sessions, light airborne "passes" from a chair to a couch, and provides entertainment with the pre-loaded programming, apps, etc. GREAT first tablet for kids--and plan to purchase one for my nephew too.

    Awesome Tablet

I was very skeptical about getting the Amazon tablet because I heard one bad review from my sister. I decided to take a chance on it for my kids since they broke their Nabis and bestbuy discontinued them. This tablet is awesome.. Theres so much for a kid to do on it. they will never get bored . The only thing i didnt like was the memory fills up fast without an SD card which Ive order a 32 gb sandisk for 11 bucks which is specifically for amazon tablets. And when the memory runs low they cant get on line. I have fun playing with it when my kids are sleep. Its waaaaaaaay better than the nabi and lighter. Plus the bumpers are like an inch thick and theres no way for my rough son to crack this one and so what if he does cause it has a 2 year warrant. plus they can go on the web and only go to sites you approve and u can put apps they like from google play and amazon (like ie Netflix or my talking Angela) on their account. My daughter says she likes this better than her nabi. Plus they have books that will read to them. You can put settings on the tablet to where they have to do a certain amount of reading time before the can do anything else on it.

Love the design, it's super durable even for a 1 year old! She's dropped it and it's still in perfect shape. Easy to use and easy to clean. You definitely need a memory card for this at least a 16gb, because after setting it up and downloading about 10 games and a few books there isn't room for much else. Would have gave 5 stars, but the memory dropped it down to a 4. Still a great tablet though. The apps are great and pretty much all of them are educational which is a huge plus! You can also add other user profiles and each user can have their own lock screen and password. I would recommend for any family with multiple children. You can monitor their activity, restrict things, and even set time limits for usage.

    Not really kid friendly

I originally purchased the adult kindle for my son (4yr) but the I saw they had this and got it instead. It's easy to setup when first open but it's not so kid friendly. It runs very slow on the kid and adult side but takes forever trying open up any program for the kids. It make you believe that it have all the apps, games, and videos preinstalled but it doesn't. You choose one and wait a while for it to download, then wait another few minutes to open. My son loves Thomas and the preloaded Thomas videos is probably the only best feature to me. With the books I only found like one or two that actually read to the kids and that wasn't even in the book section (download). All the other books you have to personally sit there and read to them. If that's the case I may as well grab one of his books off the bookshelf and read it to him instead. Over all I haven't even had it open and played with it for a full 24hrs before I made my mind up to return it back to the store. Honestly, I don't have a top of the line smartphone but my phone does a better job than this tablet.

    Great Kids Tablet

I like this tablet a lot. It's not high quality hardware. You buy this if you are looking for a great kids tablet with built-in curated kids content (books, apps, and videos). That's what you're paying for at the end. There is even a feature where parents manage the screen on time automatically. That's my favorite. Plus this all comes with a 2 year accidental damage warranty.

Great christmas gift for my 2 year old. he loves it. protective case is very nice and does a great job protecting it! My 10 year old can take the case off if she wants to use it and not have the large protective cover on it! highly recommended for young kids!

There was a slight learning curve with setting up the child restrictions, but it is a great tablet with plenty of apps and books that my son loves to use. The warranty is also nice to know that it can get used without worry.

Got this for a learning tool for my daughter and it's exactly what I was looking for. Parental controls are easy to use and it holds enough memory wise that is perfect for her. The case is amazing it has been dropped and thrown during temper tantrums (usually brought on because it's time to put the kindle away) but it has bounced and saved the kindle multiple times. It's perfect for young children!

Completely unsatisfied w this product. Continuously freezes. No memory to download any additional apps. If you make the mistake of doing so you won't be able to open anything at all until you purchase additional storage. Even after I bought additional storage some apps still are unavailable. Have been to geek squad multiple times since December. Waste of money.
