Bought this only because of the sale price. Had no idea how much I would enjoy this cube. My reason for buying Amazon Fire TV devices over the years is because it pairs well to my SlingBox 500. We have a second home in Mexico but want US Television. Very nice to be able to sling our US TV to our home in Mexico via the SlingBox and Amazon Fire TV. This cube makes things much better. Little need for a remote as you can speak commands direct, without even holding down a button. Also really like going to music with Alexa and having the song lyrics displayed on the TV.

I was looking for something that I could use in our lake house. We're only there every other weekend, and didn't want to pay for internet and cable. I have Dish at home and this has the Dish Anywhere app. I'm able to use the hotspot on my phone and along with the other apps, watch live tv (like football!!)! It was super easy to set up. Love that it has Alexa. I've got a couple of the dots at home and love them. I got the cube instead of the firestick because of the faster speed, since I was going to run it off my hotspot. Highly recommend.

Absolutely love it. Finally something that allows you to watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO now, prime, Crunchyroll and cable in one place. I hope it improves and can search all of the apps instead of separately but I was really impressed. I have bought a lg WebOs 55in tv and I was annoyed that it didn’t have hbo now as an app, sucks having to cast it and don’t really need my chrome cast now but I think amazon is on the right track with the fire tv cube.

This is super awesome if you use a fire tv already and need to upgrade to 4k, with the built in Alexa voice feature you can practically use your tv without any remote, I use it to control my tv and sound system, very convenient. The setup takes a little while and I have a few bugs here and there but never had an issue not fix with a quick restart in the setting. Definitely worth it, especially if you catch it on sale.

The old Firestick TV quit the other night after much good service. Picked up the Fire Cube and installed it last night. The supplied batteries for the remote were dead, but we have plenty of backups. The unit worked flawlessly, configuring to turn on and off both the Samsung TV monitor and the Denon AV receiver connecting everything into a system. Will be exercising it more and looking into the Alexa skills available.

The Amazon Fire TV Cube is faster than the last version, and it has an updated Android version. I find it is quick to respond, and there are simpler, yet more far-ranging menus than before. It would not be a waste of your money to buy this. The remote actually CONTROLS the volume (to include muting of your TV), and not just the headphones you may use. And the navigation arrows on the remote no longer sound like creaking plastic under the buttons. Good stuff, Amazon.

    Recommend for Recast

The Recast is fairly useless without this device. Recast integrated well after setting up a Fire TV Cube first. It’s the best OTA DVR set up I’ve been able to find without a monthly subscription. The HDMI connection works smoothly without the Wi-Fi hesitation or complexity that I had from several other OTA/DRV devices. The 4K picture is excellent and the remote is more user friendly than most. However the Apple TV voice control is more user-friendly and accurate for me.

I bought this because I can’t always get to the remote and sometimes I just need to yell at the tv to do what I want. My favorite part is how it turns on my tv and receiver together. It’s fairly smart and knows what I’m asking for but does lack some basic commands like playing the last show you watched. Overall it’s a great upgrade from the fire stick

    Second Version Got it Right

I got one for my brother and it is really quite great. Setup is extremely quick, new remote is much better! This second edition cube is great. Replaced a harmony and AppleTV, my brother seems to be quite happy. I was a first edition adopter and am still somewhat upset they released ours without a volume button. The new remote (this version in the review) has the volume and mute button, a great touch. I hate that they'd make me buy a new remote for 30$.

I own several Amazon devices with Alexa integration and had heard great things about the Fire Cube. It has built in support for tv's and sound systems, it lets you control nearly everything related to entertainment, and it has great speed and visual quality. It does most of those things very well, but not seamlessly as I'd hoped. It can turn on and off my tv (Samsung), it can control my DirecTv receiver (but so can any of their devices), and it can interface with my Samsung sound bar. However, it is not always intuitive and does have limitation with each of those devices. It is an improvement over the Echo control of those devices and I have no doubt it will improve as they develop more skills and interface specific tasks. There are 2 major issues that drive me crazy about it. 1: You connect it to the tv via HDMI so it has to sit within a cable's length of the tv. The issue with that is a typical system has a sound bar or speakers somewhere near that same area and that means the Cube cannot pick up your voice reliably when the volume is up. It says put it a minimum distance from the nearest speaker/sound bar, but physical limitations prevent that in my instance. 2: When you use voice control in the FireTV portion itself, it is by no means flawless. I tried to get ESPN to search for softball and it pulls up tennis highlights. I tried to get it to play The Umbrella Academy on Netflix and it pulled up a link to the comic book on Amazon. Some of the commands are a matter of learning how to say them and some are just not integrated. Good, but not perfect. I think it'll improve over the years though so the biggest issue will be the location aspect.

Love all of the features, but the replay speed is regularly going too slow or too fast on the Amazon Music App. The fix is easy, but to have to do this at least every other time I use the application is tedious and lame. The rest of the features work as advertised and the picture is quite amazing. The hookup, setup, and first use is totally intuitive and takes very little effort. Awesome deal overall.

    Gift for Parents

Got this for my parents (in their 60's) as a Christmas gift so they could start watching Netflix and Amazon Prime since they don't have a smart TV. The setup isn't terrible if your used to learning tech like smart phones and computers. However, if you haven't familiarized yourself with the now standard ways of setting up technology, it may be somewhat confusing. Once on, the simplicity of the remote is great if your used to that. But if you're used to always having numbers and multiple functions on your remote, there's definitely a learning curve to using the remote to control the Cube (going back, pausing and playing shows, searching, etc.). The user interface is pretty slick, however I'm not a huge fan of how it defaults to trying to get you to use Amazon Prime as your first source to find entertainment. I'd like to see it default to a general search or recommendations across all services you're signed in to, like Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Amazon, etc. I tried using the voice function and getting my parents to use it, but I don't think that is really as much of a selling point to them as I'd hope it would be. Overall, it's a great device that turns any TV in to a smart TV, plus an Alexa device.

It seems much faster than any of the previous models and I love that it can actually control my projector. Witch can be a pain because you have to usually hit the power button 2x to turn it off. Also love the new remote with volume and power buttons

This device has made controlling my entertainment system so much easier. For most functions, the voice controls replace the remotes for the TV, AV receiver, and satellite box. It's easy to setup, seamlessly switches between inputs, and when I had questions, Amazon's customer support was great to work with.

I snatched this cube up when it was $59 during the BF sale. This is my second cube for another room and it's easy to set up and excellent for cord cutters. I haven't even used the Alexa features and probably won't...I just mute that part.
