The Amazon Fire TV Stick is great for turning your TV into a smart TV. The device is small and the remote that comes with it is a nice feature. The stick does a nice job in terms of apps to choose from. I do however find it a little difficult to find what I need at times. It connects very well to an Android device since Amazon uses the Droid operating system. It really does stream quite nicely from Flixster and Netflix and even does a nice job with screen mirroring. I did have some trouble with screen mirroring from my iPad and my PC. The connection kept getting interrupted, but I have a feeling it was due in part to a weak signal. It seems that the best location for it would be near a router. Overall I am pleased with the device and the price of it. It does what I need it to do and more.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a great HD streaming device and all you need to have is an Amazon account and a WiFi signal. You can easily connect to Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, Netflix and my other streaming services through this one amazing stick. Its very simple to use, just connect it to any HDMI port on your HDTV or Receiver and start viewing content in seconds. One other great thing is that the remote does not use a IR signal but a Bluetooth signal so you don't have to point the remote directly at the Stick. You can also download the Fire TV Stick App on your Apple or Android device and use it has a secondary remote with voice feature. Its only $39.99 and goes on sale from time to time for $34.99. I give it 2 thumbs up!

With all the options availed today, it's really a nice little unit. It covers almost all of my frequently used streaming services (minus Vudu), and the performance is very snappy. You have the option of using the remote (included) or you can use your smart phone. You can use your TV remote if you have a TV that's able to control devices over the HDMI port. It's small and makes it great for travel use and the remote doesn't rely on line-of-site to work. It's powered through a micro USB connection and will likely work directly from a USB port on your TV (1 amp or higher). I actually ended up buying a second because it plays games which means that my kids like it too. It's fits in perfectly if you're staying in a hotel with wifi and a TV with an available HDMI port. The last point that makes it so nice is the price. It out performs nearly every other device in its class and is almost cheaper than all of its competitors. Easily recommended.

Must have device if you are an Amazon Prime Member

Since the Fire TV stick was announced, I've heard a lot of people wonder if it was something worth picking up, essentially asking "what does this thing do that my TV doesn't do already?" The answer is going to be different for different people, but here's an easy way to think about it; Amazon Fire TV Stick is an excellent purchase if: -Your TV is not a "smart" TV. Meaning your TV or dvd player did not come pre-loaded with apps such as Netflix, Youtube, Pandora etc... -Your TV is a "smart" TV, but apps do not perform well. Some smart TVs have painful performance when streaming video, apps can be difficult to update, wifi connection can be spotty etc... -You want to access Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Pandora, and other such apps on your TV -You are an Amazon Prime Member and want to access your Prime Video, Prime Music, and Prime Photo accounts -You want to participate in casual gaming on your television. -You want to listen to music on your TV -You want to have portability. In other words, Television access to the above services while you are travelling. (Amazon says the capability to use in hotels/dorms etc... with shared wifi that requires frequent password entry is coming soon) So, the bottom line is that the Fire TV Stick allows you to access your movies, music and photos as well as games and more via your television. If your TV already does these things well, or you're already doing them via other devices such as a game console, then this may not be worth your while. So, how easy is it to use? I'm telling you, you do not have to have an ounce of technological know how to have this thing up and running in a matter of minutes. There is a set of 5 very simple instructions for set-up that had me watching House of Cards less than 10 minutes after I unboxed it. It comes with a remote that includes just 7 buttons (your phone can also become a remote by adding an app, though this is not quite ready on the iPhone yet) and upon completion of connecting the stick, you are taken to a simple tutorial video that explains very well the use of the remote. There is also an optional voice control remote that can be separately purchased. It is in no way required to operate the Fire Stick. Sidenote: If you buy the Stick online, it comes preset to the account from which it is ordered. If this is not the account you plan to use (I needed to use my wife's because she has the prime account) it's very easy de-register and change accounts; took me less than a minute. I have accessed Prime Video and the picture and speed is fantastic. I've accessed Prime Music and the sound quality and speed are excellent and include nice background photos of artists and albums. Apps are easy to browse and download as are games. I was also able to "fling" to Netflix etc... from my Kindle Fire quite easily. I've been using a Chromecast since they came out, and I think the Fire TV Stick competes very well. I like the remote (which the Chromecast doesn't have), and I love the memory and speed. And if you are an Amazon Prime Member, this is hands down your best option. This would make a great gift, and is easy enough to use that you could give it with confidence to someone who has no technological savvy at all. If you're looking to get the most out of your HDTV, The Fire Stick is a fantastic way to go about it. I highly recommend it, and based on how smoothly everything went on what was probably a very busy day for Amazon servers, I'm confident that you'll have the same or an even better experience. Enjoy!

If you're reading this, you either are on the fence of purchasing a fire stick or not to purchase a fire stick. I like the fire stick's size. It's more portable than the Apple TV or the Amazon Fire TV. Sure the processor speed of the fire stick may not be as superb as the regular Fire TV, but if I want a device that can be portable or to be used on an extra television in a home, then the fire tv stick isn't a bad choice. The price is reasonable too. Before this review becomes too long, it is ultimately up to you whether you buy an Amazon Fire TV Stick or not.

We looked at all out options to get rid of cable, and I'm so surprised how much I love my Amazon fire stick! I was worried about not being able to find anything good to watch but I discovered NEW favorite shows. I never have to wait a week for the next episode. Now I binge watch a show several episodes in a row. And it recommends new shows for me based on what I watch, kind of like Netflix but for only $99 a YEAR! No more monthly bills. We are a new happy Amazon family.

Good, cheaper alternative to roku and apple tv

Very compact, works great. Good alternative to roku and apple tv, and it's cheaper at about $35.00. It is similar to google or roku stick as it is plugged in directly to hdmi on your tv. Charger is micro-usb similar to what samsung phones and tablets use. It carries main apps like netflix, amazon, hulu, etc., plus has numerous apps for sports, movies, games, fitness, weather. The only setback is that I could not use the hbo and showtime apps because my cable carrier did not allow it. I use this amazon stick in my bedroom, and I have roku in living room. My carrier allows me to watch hbo and showtime on roku but not amazon stick. There was another app (watch espn) I was not able to use on amazon stick due to carrier issues, but I think that is problem with carrier and not amazon as there is list of carriers to choose for viewing those apps on amazon stick, and charter (my carrier) was not listed.

    Had High Expectations... Not Disappointed

I bought this for my daughters TV and i had high expectations for it since her TV was not a smart TV. I had never used one of these streaming devices before, so i hooked it up and ran the updates and played with it for a day before i gave it to her, and let me tell you, i do have a smart TV and i had a hard time parting with this little device. It is easy to use, way faster than my TV, and the picture is great. I watched an episode of something on NetFlix on the Fire Stick and then watched the same episode on my TV and the FireStick is much fast, and does not buffer near as much. I will be purchasing the full size version for my TV soon.

This was my 3rd fire stick. We love it. If you need to make a regular TV into a smart TV that is basically what this does. If you are apart of Amazon Prime you have access to all your content there or if you have bought movies or music from Amazon digitally you will be able to stream it, along with Netflix and some other media streaming services. I have not had any problems with any of my fire sticks. If you are in the market for one of these devices, for me it's this or Apple TV. Chromecast and roku are 3rd and 4th on my list. So just go ahead and get the fire stick. It's totally worth it.

Enter the day and age of streaming sticks. This gets the job done at a cheap price relative to other streaming sticks. Pros: Integrated with Amazon's services. You have prime? boom you can stream all of those shows. Small and inconspicuous Can set up particular TV services on the stick like K to the O to the D to the I. Cons It's integrated with Amazon's services so if you're not signed up. Then it's kind of a waste unless you're doing it for the pro I mentioned above. Stick gets pretty hot as it's always just "running" 1gb of RAM, this gets slow sometimes on some of the apps.

Very pleased with the amazon fire stick, its small and easy to use. The small size help when installing it in the back of a TV that is wall mounted. Instructions are super easy and simple to fallow along, with a easy to use remote. Amazon prime is also great has shows that Hulu and Netflix do not have. over all great item for any room that has a TV. Also the stick is way cheaper then the box and does the same thing just as good.

Once we were able to increase the size of our bandwidth and improve our wi-fi, we were able to enjoy this cute and compact device. It's so easy to switch between TVs. The problem is, we're in front of the TVs far more now that we're able to easily stream off of Amazon Prime, Netflix, and YouTube. We're not gamers, but we're even enjoying the free games through the Fire TV Stick! Fun discovery and so convenient!

I already have 2 of these in the house and have recently bought 4 more for myself and family as gifts. Out the box it's really easy to setup and add your Amazon apps to it. Remote control is pretty simple (getting the batteries was the hardest part of setup). This is more useful if you already have a Netflix and Amazon account, if you are not technically inclined. If you are into tinkering with technology, there are plenty of information on the internet that can make this baby an Entertainment Beast. Just search Kodi. You can still have your regular apps work. You also can customize the look and have easy access to your favorite apps and shows. Make sure you use the hdmi extender that's included in the box. I won't debate whether this is better or worse than a Roku. I have a Roku and it has its place and has its pros and cons just like the Amazon Fire Stick. Both have an phone app to use your phone as a remote. Both have a great community that is available to maximize the performance of both devices. I was able to get my 1st one at launch for $20 and subsequent ones on sale at 25. I can say it's worth the regular price of 40 if you like to tinker with gadgets cause you will easily see the value in it. If you will use it as is out the box I would wait for a sale. Overall it's a great device and make a great gift either way.

Pros: Netflix and Amazon Prime experiences are first rate! Very fast and responsive. I also use a free app called ViMu which can play videos from my DLNA/UPnP server. Just like that, this little device lets me play my giant video collection on any TV in the house! Games seem pretty cool, I know it won't handle the really intense 3D games that the quad core Fire TV is built for, but I am sure Sonic will run fine if I buy a Bluetooth controller. There is a fun little one-button hill-climbing game that is entertaining. The remote feels great and I love that it isn't a line of sight infrared. It's Bluetooth. Cons: 1. It is no fun entering text. Logging into services sucks. It doesn't use that "code" method of activating Netflix using a computer or phone, that some devices use. NO IDEA why not! Given this, Amazon ought to support pairing a Bluetooth keyboard. Several phone-sized BT keyboards exist can be bought for pretty cheap. Currently I believe the BT is limited to only gamepads and the Amazon remote. 2. No HBO go ... yet. Rumor has it they are working on it. 3. Don't expect to be able to use AirPlay to play video from your iOS device - there are several apps available in the store that claim to, but none actually work (mirroring works but videos will be missing). To be fair Amazon doesn't claim this feature exists.

I love my amazon fire stick, it's an awesome piece of tech that streams fluidly and has almost an app I could need. Nice little device. Easy to hook up and use. No instructions needed. The closer you are to your router, the better the streaming. No lag or grainy pictures here. The included remote is very responsive. Netflix does randomly start a show @ the 2 minute mark for some reason. Even on my PS3. Overall, my wife and I enjoy this device.
