Purchased as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter who loves to read. All her older siblings have this version of a kindle as well and they are used on a regular basis as they are home schooled. With a Kindle account the amount of books available for reading are limitless. Dad leads a family 'book club' that keeps them all involved and reading everything from the classics to books that are just fun.

Nice idea but does lag quite a bit and have to restart it frequently as it often shows there are no wifi networks to connect to even though none of our other devices have an issue connecting.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try: make sure your Kindle Kids has the latest software updates by going to Settings > Device Options > Advanced Options > Update Your Kindle, try restarting your router and then reconnecting the Kindle, forget the Wi-Fi network on the Kindle and reconnect by going to Settings > Wi-Fi & Bluetooth > select your network and choose "Forget" then reconnect, move the Kindle closer to your router to see if distance is causing the issue, check if your router's firmware is up to date, and try disabling any VPN or firewall settings that might be interfering with the connection. Only reason I chose 4 stars is it tends to be a little slow / laggy and my kids don't know how to wait long to enough to have to catch up.

It is very slow. With every swipe you have to wait a few seconds. It can be quite irriating. Its nice and compact. Perfect for reading. How ever, we did have an issue with redeeming the free 1 year subscription that comes with it
