I have both the Kindle Colorsoft and the Scribe, and they are each fantastic at what they do.

As noted in the product description, the case you are referring to is made out of fabric. While the fabric is water safe so that you can read in more places, it is not as protective as a hard cover would be. There are leather options for more protection as well as screen protectors available for purchase should this be a concern for you!
