Why a proprietary charger?

This device uses a proprietary power adapter. It's 2024, why are companies still building products with proprietary power adapters? This device could have easily been powered with a USB-C cable, but it is not.

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, 2022&2024 releases both have USB-C cables included with the device in the box with purchase. This device you are asking about is a charging dock, made for the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 2022&2024 releases because both are compatible with USB-C charging. The charging dock is just another option for customers for whatever best fits their lifestyle! If customers want to plug their Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition into a wall outlet with the USB-C Cable provided that works too! A single charge lasts up to twelve (12) weeks, based on a half hour of reading per day with wireless off and the light setting at 13. Battery life may vary depending on use. Audible audiobook streaming over Bluetooth will reduce battery life as well.

Hi FrankZ,
The Wireless Charging Dock for Kindle Paperwhite Signature, and Colorsoft only charges your Kindle with a case up to 4mm thick, in portrait mode. If you put a thicker case on it will not be compatible! You can remove the case and charge with ease.

Doesn't work.

Love the idea of this. But I plug it in and it doesn't charge the kindle. Continuously has a blinking white light. I've troubleshot it multiple times and nothing works. Sits useless on my floor.

This charging dock is compatible only with Kindle Paperwhite Signature Editions (2022 & 2024 Releases) and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (2024 Release). First, I recommend holding the power button on your Kindle for 40 seconds to reboot the device. You will also want to make sure that the dock is properly connected to the power source, that there are no signs of damage, and that the device is properly aligned on the dock. White flashing light after docking kindle. Light indicates metal is detected but station does not charge the kindle. Tons of similar experiences on Amazon reviews for the product. Do not buy.

Hello Jason! I am so sorry to hear your charging dock is not charging your Kindle. I would first recommend verifying that the Kindle Paperwhite that you are trying to charge is the Signature Edition from 2022 or 2024 specifically as this is only compatible with those models. This will not charge older Paperwhites and will not charge non Signature Edition models as those do not have the wireless charging capability feature needed to use this dock. If this is not the issue, then you may have a possibly defective device. I would recommend either seeing if you are still within the Best Buy exchange policy to exchange it or you can always contact Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 to troubleshoot further.
