This charging dock is compatible only with Kindle Paperwhite Signature Editions (2022 & 2024 Releases) and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (2024 Release). First, I recommend holding the power button on your Kindle for 40 seconds to reboot the device. You will also want to make sure that the dock is properly connected to the power source, that there are no signs of damage, and that the device is properly aligned on the dock. Light indicates metal is detected but station does not charge the kindle. Tons of similar experiences on Amazon reviews for the product. Do not buy.

I would first recommend verifying that the Kindle Paperwhite that you are trying to charge is the Signature Edition from 2022 or 2024 specifically as this is only compatible with those models. This will not charge older Paperwhites and will not charge non Signature Edition models as those do not have the wireless charging capability feature needed to use this dock. If this is not the issue, then you may have a possibly defective device. I would recommend either seeing if you are still within the Best Buy exchange policy to exchange it or you can always contact Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 to troubleshoot further.
