It’s a poweful cpu and really stomps the competition. When it hits its max frequency it gets really hot. Like 90C hot. Gaming it averages around 57-74C and I see a consistent 4.8Ghz on all 8 cores. The heat factor and power draw are within specs of AMD’s guidelines. Even though they say it’s ok those two factors concern me about the lifespan/longevity of the chip. Otherwise it would have gotten a 5 star.

Not the best value of the Ryzen 5000 series, but still an amazing chip. I bought this because all the other chips were out of stock. 8 cores is enough for general gaming discord browsing and photoshop. Bought a 5600x for my girlfriend, great CPUs for gaming

An awesome upgrade from my 3700x! In fact, think I got lucky in the silicon lottery as found that it even in general runs much cooler than my old 3700x ever did. A very fast processor that easily recommend if you are looking for an 8-core CPU.

Upgraded from an i5 9400f to pair with the TUF 3070 and am extremely happy. Needed to upgrade my cooler as it definitely runs warm but the processor was well worth the money. Highly recommend!

AMD really kicks a!!. A great product - works well, blazing fast and performs very reliably. I only wish they'd manufactured a compatible CPU cooler - like the older AMD CPUs had.

Upgraded from Ryzen 2700x. The Ryzen 5800x plugged right. It feels quite a bit faster, but that could do with my memory upgrade. These things are so fast who can really tell these days?

Just like the rest of the 5000 series, it's a great cpu. That said, video games will see little gain by going higher cards than the 5600x. The 5800x is the beginner of the "work pc" spectrum. Due to a different layout under the heat spreader, this card has an issue with running hot even under a top notch cooler. If youre fine with going into the bios to tweak the voltage and amps, great middleground cpu. Otherwise, go for 5600x for gaming. 5900x for work.

Great for the price point. I would recommend a better graphics card for more high end games, but this is above sufficient.

I purchased a new Ryzen 7 5800x, another 16GB RAM stick, new CPU heatsink and Big fan, New Corsair 120mm case.fan. It came with an AMD RX-580 with 8GB DDDR5 RAM. Dell says 450 Watts will support all this. It will but Slowly!!!!!! I know it doesn't because swapping supplies feels like I just updated the RAM. Separate CPU and GPU's just works !!!!

I built my own gaming pc after getting an Xbox Series X, and Halo Wars 2 kept crashing on new console. I went with Amd Ryzen 5800k and Nvidia 3080 which is a great combo. Halo Wars 2, Star Wars Battlefront, COD Cold War, Star Fallen order look amazing in 4k.

I moved from a Ryzen 7 2nd gen to this one. I would say if you need the performance boost or you are building a new computer this is a great processor to grab. If you are upgrading from a 3rd gen, it is not as important to upgrade at this time.
