Great CPU temperatures do run high as long as you have a good liquid cooler you will be all set high demanding games runs around 70°C with the fans on performance

Upgraded from an i7 9700F from this pre-build PC to this blazing fast CPU for gaming.
Overall, I love this CPU, since it is power efficient, brings out amazing gaming performance and it is future proof. I would definitely recommend you wait for a sale and you would definitely be satisfied if you get a good b650 motherboard (my motherboard is MSI b650 Tomahawk WiFi).

I am really pleased with the system I built with the Ryzen 7700X. It is a great CPU. I haven't experienced any issues with heat at all with gaming or regular use. The system is fast and a great upgrade over the 5800x that I previously had. The system is just as quiet, and most likely quieter with the fan curve I used for both gaming and regular use.
I've been using AMD chips for the last several generations. I've enjoyed being able to use the same board for several generations of CPU's, and this is the reason I chose this setup this time around as well. While it may be quite as fast as the 13700K, the difference is not something that would make me want to switch over to a socket that is going to be replaced in the next generation. I have nothing against Intel, and in fact use a laptop with their tech, but for my gaming PC I felt this was the better option.
I am running my 7700x right now in Standard (Default) mode, but have tried ECO mode as well. For those who don't know, you can set the Ryzen to run at 65W if you want it to use less power. To be honest, I haven't seen a situation yet where I am worrying about it, so I have just left it at Default. There are a lot of options for playing around with getting it to be power saving or power hungry, but for most users I think the CPU stock will be a powerful upgrade and well received.
My only complaint with this CPU is the boot time. There is about 10-15 seconds of what I think is RAM timing before the system boots into windows. The fans run at full tilt during this time. After that, it boots into windows in 5 seconds or less. I am hoping future BIOS updates reduce that time, but I have gotten used to it at this point.
Overall I am very happy with the CPU and look forward to gaming and future upgrades as new generations come out.

The best CPU i've ever owned. Incredible performance in gaming and workstation. 8 cores and 16 threads of pure power which will deliver a lot of fps at any game you put in front of it. Paired it up with an RTX 2070 FE and it reached 144 fps stable-ish on 90% of all the games (after a few tweaks, of course. graphics card is biiiit old!) and it still has room for EVEN MORE. Planning on buying an RTX 40 series in the future, that will make the perfect pair for this TOP cpu. Only problem is TDP, which i had to pair with an AIO cooling of 260W to get every bit of perfromance possible as cool as possible. idle temps at 37-39 celsius while 76 celsius max at 100% load. Wanna game? wanna use it for a work station??? this cpu eats those task FOR BREAKFAST and then some!

This processor is the best bang for your buck. Man handles Battlefield 6 if that is of any concern. I've been running it for over a month on my new PC build, got everything from bestbuy in store and it is actually a beast.

Overall, very satisfied with this CPU. Recently built a new gaming-focused computer with this CPU in it. The only other CPU I have on hand to compare to was the previous generation Ryzen 9 5900X, not quite a perfect comparison but an interesting one nonetheless. In Cinebench the 7700X saw a 6% lower score than the 5900X, not bad for having 4 fewer cores. However, the 7700X saw a 27% higher score over the 5900X in the single-core GeekBench 5 benchmark and even a 7% higher score in the multi-core GeekBench 5 benchmark. This CPU is right on the edge of being comparable to the 5900X in places where 8 cores will do you fine. For gaming, it’s perfect for me. I highly recommend for those who want a high end gaming CPU and even those who do light rendering work.
