Cool 65 Watt AMD beauty

I purchased this CPU for yet another build. I decided to go with the AMD team, since Intel had their issues for the last 2 generations. The CPU itself is running cool, really fast compared to my previous one, also an AMD (3700X). Coming from that one to this beauty, the jump is unbelievable. Programs run fast, the computer boots in a short time, also thanks to the Samsung 990 Pro SSD. If you’re thinking to build a new PC, I highly recommend this CPU. You won’t regret it.

I have a couple of builds: one with this processor and one with the 9950x (my main desktop). And, despite the 9950x having twice the cores, except under heavy workload, this processor performs basically the same. That is actually to be expected if you understand the microarchitecture. That is to say, both this and the 9950x are the very best processors I've ever used. And even for the heaviest of desktop workloads, this processor, the 9700x, will be sure to impress. I completely recommend. Truly a marvel of engineering, considering the power efficiency and thermal performance.

Not sure why there is so much dislike surrounding this processor, but it’s been working perfectly for me. You can either leave it at 65w or go up to 105w for a bit more performance. I have it paired with a 4080 SUPER and it handles it just fine. Yeah maybe you won’t get the extra 10fps you might with a XD processor, but this can run cyberpunk at max ray tracing without a hiccup so idk what people are complaining about. Just make sure to make use of a nice set of AMD EXPO high speed RAM and you’ll be golden.

After many years of using Intel products (most recently the i5-12600K), I’ve come to the understanding of why people exclaim that AMD’s CPUs are superior. I understand that this is a huge jump of performance, but this upgrade has drastically changed my gaming and productivity experience. I currently have this paired with a 7800XT and love it! I know that I’ll always come back to AMD for their CPUs in the foreseeable future.

Moved up from 5800x and found this to really make my system snappy. Got about 20% better performance in CPU intensive games and also do not bottle neck my GPU anymore.
Also runs very cool compared to my last CPU even with just air cooling

Huge upgrade from my ryzen 5 3600. This thing is a monster. Paired with a 9070xt I’m getting ~110 fps average WITHOUT FSR enabled on a 3440x1440 monitor

The Ryzen 7 9700-x has a good balance of performance and power( while maintaining efficiency). The single-core performance is also much improved from its predecessor(s). All in all great mid-range chip, just don't expect top of the line benchmarks!

I bought the Ryzen 7 9700X from Best Buy and installed it myself, which honestly was a fun part of the whole build. First time dealing with an AM5 chip and it went in smooth, no problems there.
As for performance, it’s pretty solid overall. It handles gaming and multitasking well, and I haven’t had any major issues. But if I’m being real, I kind of expected a little more for the price. It’s not bad—just not mind-blowing either. I’d still give it somewhere between a 3.5 and 4 out of 5.
If you’re building a new rig and want something current-gen without totally breaking the bank, it’s a great option. Just don’t expect it to feel like a massive jump unless you're upgrading from something really old.

I honestly would have gone to a higher specced cpu but for the price and the face my system died i could not refuse this cpu and motherboard upgrade especially since i was on am4 at the time. I am water cooled so it keeps the temps down and unlocking the 105W mode gave it another 11% performance boost!
