Extremely hard to get your hands on this beast of a CPU. Worth every penny!!! Make sure you’ve accounted for the higher temps on this thing though!

So far so good! This cpu is performing as expected! for the most part I have this cooled with a 280mm AIO and it runs pretty well. When running this chip against my older intel 12900k it shows a notiable improvment! Personally speaking I don't think the 3d mark test warrents a need to upgrade... but I needed the 12900k to perform a newer duty.

The AMD Ryzen 9 offers excellent performance with it's 16 cores and high boost speeds, making it a strong choice for both gaming and productivity. I am cooling it with a Noctua NH-D15 air cooler, and it handles thermals well - idle temps sit at around 46-49°C, and under load, it typically stays between 75-78°C. For a high-end chip in air cooling, id say thats reasonable. Overall, it's a powerful and efficient setup that runs cool and quiet without the need of an AIO.

This CPU is just incredible. Coming from years of Intel, I'm genuinely blown away by how much this processor can do, how fast it does it and how cool and power efficient it relatively still remains. For gaming, it's hands down incredible. And for productivity, there's no compromises either. A bit pricey, but well worth the price of admission! Easy to recommend

I'm absolutely blown away by the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. This processor is a beast! From gaming to multitasking, everything runs incredibly fast and smooth. The 3D V-Cache really makes a difference—especially in demanding titles like Escape from Tarkov and other CPU-heavy games. My FPS has never been more stable.
Temperatures stay impressively low even under load, and paired with a good cooler, it's whisper quiet. Whether you're gaming, streaming, or editing, this chip handles it all without breaking a sweat.
If you're looking for top-tier performance with the latest tech, the 9950X3D is worth every penny. AMD knocked it out of the park with this one.
Highly recommended!

Just built a new PC with the AMD 9950X3D and so far it's been a very large improvement over my previous Intel i9 10900k. I have it paired with a RTX 5070 Ti and my fps in Oblivion Remastered is now over 3x the fps I used to get and I am running it on Ultra graphics preset and Ultra ray tracing. I will say that this CPU runs much hotter just idling than my previous i9 10900k did but the higher running wattage is probably a main reason for that. I am also using an air cooler vs a liquid cooler so that's probably another factor. All in all this is a CPU that I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to build a new high end PC.

What can you say about a 16 core CPU that isn’t already apparent? It’s nutty fast right out of the box. Easily overclocked and stays cool with water.

Top-of-the-line CPU with incredible performance. The 9950X3D handles everything I throw at it — from gaming at ultra settings to multitasking with heavy software. Temps stay reasonable, and paired with a good cooler, it’s a beast. The 3D V-Cache definitely gives it an edge in gaming, and productivity tasks fly. Definitely worth it if you’re building a high-end rig and want serious power and future-proofing.

Amazing CPU! Very expensive but I wanted the best CPU to pair up with my RTX 5090 and I have no regrets spending on this cpu. This is my first AMD chip in a very long time and I will be sticking with AMD until this socket is no longer supported. Awesome performance in games and it runs cooler than I expected. I am seeing max temps around 66 C in long gaming sessions and 75 C max in Cinebench R24 running on loop.

Fantastic Chip

Haven't had a chance to fully tune to see what this chip is capable of yet. I am coming from an 14900KS (stupid purchase, had no idea how hard it would be to actually be able to just use it unless you have a custom loop). So far performance straight out of the box has been very, very good. I've had no issues with scheduling so far. I need to use a large memory kit for 3D modeling and video encoding, and so far it has handled a 96GB kit from Corsair at 6400mhz without problems (although I haven't had a chance to properly tune and test the memory yet, I'm just impressed that everything out of the box has worked). Gaming performance is as advertised.
In terms of value, this is fully subjective. The chip is indeed extremely expensive, but I feel this iteration is finally in a place where you don't make any sacrifices in either gaming or productivity. The 7950x3D is also functioning far better than it was 2 years ago with its scheduling issues, but those have also come up a lot in price ($700+ on Amazon). If you need the 16 cores and are set on one of these 2 chips, I would wait until you can grab the 9950X3D at retail. Hopefully stock will be better in a few months.

Very fast and runs cool with an AIO, Can't match the price/performance with any Intel CPU. After 30 years of Intel, I am an AMD guy now.

700$ is steep for just a cpu alone. And the fact I had to manually activate half the disabled cores is the reason this gets a 4 rather than a 5. Other than the price and tweaking, the clock speeds and perfomance is really good. I still would prefer a ryzen 7 9800x3d for gaming, but for workloads or a bit of both its really good.

Best CPU that Money Can Buy in 2025

If you're looking for an absolute beast of a CPU for both productivity and gaming, then look no further. If you're just looking for gaming, then save the money and buy the 9800X3D which offers the same performance but much cheaper.
If you plan doing no gaming and are just looking for prouctivity, then the intel 285k will serve you just fine and it's a bit cheaper.
But overall, there's no beating this CPU this generation for all around performance.

Not a whole lot to say here. I mean this is the current top performer in production and gaming. The price could be better and because I was able to do some flips, I reduced my personal cost where it just made sense. At $700 you better need the production aspect. If not, the clear choice is the 9800x3d or the 7800x3d. While the 9000 CPUs are slightly improved over the 7000 what you choose should be based on the best deal. The differences won't be noticed clearly unless you are coming from AM4.

I previously had the Intel Core i9 13900K, even though yes, I still have it. I purchased this brand new AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Just to see the difference and I actually really like it. Really enjoy it. I am 'probably' not going back to until again. And yes, I would daily recommend anyone to get an AMD CPU, whether it's for multitasking, video editing, gaming, anything.

This is one the best CPU's I have ever used. I have been on AMD now for the past 3 years and I have never looked back from moving on from my 10th gen i7. AMD has the best all around cpu work load for gaming and editing and all other tasks. I would highly recommend getting into a 64GB 6000MHz ram kit set up with these CPUs as this is the sweet spot to maximize the performance of this cpu and your build. Of course, us enthusiasts should know this already. We aren't here taking a Ferrari engine and throwing it into a Pinto are we?
