Glad I caught this Criterion box set on blu ray when Best Buy had their 50% sale on Criterion titles. These seven films are classics in the best transfers you are going to see these days. All seven films have been restored from a 4K restoration that Criterion has been doing to many of their titles for blu ray. My favorites being THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, EASY RIDER, and FIVE EASY PIECES. These films capture a time back in the early '70s (and late '60s) when filmmakers were making great films. Each movie is in a slim line case so storing all seven movies doesn't take up shelf space. This has got to be my second favorite box set from Criterion. Criterion's David Lean blu ray box set wins the best transfers hands down (they too are from 4K restorations).
If you like classic films from the past, you will not be disappointed in AMERICA LOST AND FOUND on blu ray (bet even the DVDs look good). I will cherish this set of films for a long time, They don't make great films like these anymore.
The seven films in this set are:
The Monkee's HEAD
EASY RIDER
DRIVE, HE SAID
A SAFE PLACE
THE LAST PICTURE SHOW
THE KING OF MARVIN GARDENS
All films are uncut and presented in their original widescreen aspect ratios (1.85) and EASY RIDER is granted a 5.1 DTS-HD soundtrack.
There is a great 112 page book included that is full of pictures and information on the films in this set.
Not sure if or when Criterion will sells these individually. Have always loved THE LAST PICTURE SHOW and it is amazing on blu ray!

My primary reason for purchasing this Blu-ray set was for an upgrade of the Monkees film Head. For that purpose alone I am very happy. But the other films in the set provide an excellent example of the beginnings of the independent film movement. Great content and historical perspectives made this set more valuable than I anticipated. I highly recommend this set to any film buff or student of the pop culture of the late '60s and early '70s.

My son was very happy to receive this set as a gift. He loves the criterion collection movies in general, and he said this specific set has movies not otherwise available as criterion issues.
