American Assasin is a great action film. It is based of a book by Vince Flynn of the same name. You do not need to read the book to understand the movie.

Eighteen months later, Rapp, now consumed by his desire for vengeance, frequents an internet message board where the terrorist responsible for his girlfriend's murder quizzes Rapp on aspects of Islam and jihad. Having secured an invitation to meet him face to face in Libya, Rapp prepares to take his vengeance on the man responsible for his girlfriend's death, but before he can kill the terrorist, the cell is suddenly ambushed by U.S. Special Forces. Upset over the perception that he has been denied his vengeance, Rapp repeatedly stabs the terrorist he was after, who is already dead from the ambush, before being dragged out by the U.S. forces. In a CIA safe house Rapp undergoes 30 days of debriefing before being offered a chance by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy to join a black operations unit code-named Orion. Its head, Stan Hurley, is a former U.S. Navy SEAL and a Cold War veteran who trains Rapp and the other potential recruits in asymmetric warfare. Meanwhile, word comes down through intelligence channels that weapons grade nuclear material has gone missing from a decommissioned Russian nuclear facility. The material in question appears to be heading to Iranian hardliners, who are upset with the Iranian government's nuclear deal with the U.S. While verifying the sale of the nuclear material in Poland the plutonium is intercepted by a third party, who eliminates the sellers before vanishing into the crowd. In Virginia, Hurley sees news reports about the incident in Poland and tentatively identifies the perpetrator as a former Navy SEAL and Orion operative believed to have been killed in action and now going by the code-name "Ghost". Hurley's team is sent into Turkey to intercept the buyer Ghost is working for. In Istanbul, Hurley's team is identified, and the attempted intercept of the trigger device fails. Rapp pursues the seller to his apartment, and after killing the man, retrieves his laptop. The information leads the team to Rome, where Orion operatives identify a nuclear physicist needed to craft the nuclear material into a functional nuclear weapon. While in Rome, Rapp uncovers a co-worker, Annika, as a foreign agent for Iran. She explains that she is working for the mainstream Iranian faction which is attempting to stop the hardliners from acquiring nuclear material. During a meeting between Hurley and an Iranian contact, Ghost ambushes them and kills the contact and captures Hurley. At the CIA safe house in Rome, Annika is being moved under guard by two Mossad agents when Rapp intercepts the car and frees her. Working together, both locate the subterranean headquarters Ghost is using to build the nuclear device. After infiltrating the tunnels, Rapp locates and frees a badly injured Hurley, however Annika is captured by Ghost and she kills herself with Ghost's gun before Ghost escapes onto a boat with the nuke. Based on an earlier conversation, Hurley deduces that Ghost intends to make a kamikaze attack against the U.S. Navy's Sixth Fleet. Rapp chases after Ghost's boat, while the Sixth Fleet, alerted to the impending nuclear attack through CIA channels, prepares for the attack. Aboard Ghost's boat, Rapp kills Ghost and attempts to divert the boat away from the Sixth Fleet to shield the ships from the blast, before throwing the nuclear weapon into the sea and escaping aboard a Rescue helicopter sent by Irene to rescue Hurley. Seconds later the device detonates, creating a massive sink hole and subsequent tsunami that inundates the Sixth Fleet vessels, but the fleet survives the blast. In the aftermath of the blast, Hurley is recovering from his injuries and notes that Rapp is on vacation in Dubai, while watching news reports indicating that the Iranian faction which tried to obtain the nuclear weapon will win the presidential election. In Dubai, the faction candidate and his escorts enter an elevator in which Rapp is already present, smiling.

Fantastic movie. Top quality prints. I want to watch the part 2 if it ever gets made.

Movie showed up in great time and imperfect condition. Movie itself is absolutely amazing and looks great in 4K definition

This movie completely took me by surprise!! I got it on Black Friday and I had just watched it last week! I’m so upset I didn’t watch it sooner!! This movie was so action packed from the beginning and didn’t stop until the movie was done! It kept me in suspense and kept me guessing the whole time!! Felt like I was being a detective! It was a great movie can’t recommend it enouch

Picked this up during the black Friday sale while it was like 7 orb8 bucks, not sure what to expect and I was surprised to learn that I would've been just as satisfied had I paid full price. Easily one of Keaton's best performancea right up there with Batman and Beetlejuice.

From the pages of legendary author Vince Flynn comes Mitch Rapp, one of the baddest of the good guys to take down the worst of the World's worst. This is an origin story and Dylan O'Brien and Michael Keaton are great as master and student. Hang on this gets fun real fast...

Ok, Michael Keaton as an assassin didn't sound right but I figured I would give it a try. Jason Statham or Vin Diesel maybe but it turned out to be a good action packed movie! To anyone who hasn't seen, I would recommend.

This story is okay and the performance of actors are okay. The director handles the shooting and cutting well so the flaw of the movie is excellent - worth a look if you are up to this kind of movie.

I had not seen the film, or read much about it, before purchasing, but I was very impressed with both Dylan O'Brien and Michael Keaton's acting/characters. I enjoyed the plot and action scenes, and look forward to a sequel.

A lost American who suffered at the hands of terrorists tries to take things into his own hands. While he makes some headway he gets recruited by the CIA to do the real deal. Michael Keaton is great here!

It makes me so happy to see this Michael Keaton renaissance. I think he's a fantastic actor and adds a lot to a movie. I don't think this movie would have been as good without him.

I really enjoyed this morning. I saw it in theaters and watched it once when i bought it myself again and then recently watched it with my girlfriend who enjoyed it as well. I am hoping they make more.

Saw this movie in theaters and liked it so much that I decided to read the books it was based off of. Obviously the books are better but this is a great action flick.

Very good movie. Loved it. Lots of action some parts not suitable for the sqeemish. Seen better movies but a LOT worse than this one. Leave the popcorn out when watching.

I have not read the books for this character, but I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was paced well with excellent action and story telling. Plot was believable and entertaining.

Enjoyed the movie and think it is worth watching if you are an action movie fan. Got it on a Black Friday deal and couldn’t pass it up adding it to my 4K collection.

Young man wants vengeance for the death of his girlfriend while they were on vacation...what does he become an assassin. I enjoyed the movie and the pacing and the action was good!

Watching this on 4K with a home theater system on a large tv is just awesome. Seeing it, hearing it and feeling it. Yes feeling. Just awesome if you have a nice home theatre.

THE 4K version was mighty fine-that being said, the blu ray disc had weird splotches that triggered playback freezes, twice that happen. YOU should always return it if you find those. The movie is down right serious at first, especially for the main guy...the rest are pretty laid back. By the 3rd act, there is clunky 80s throwback dialogue -that came out of nowhere. It was serious for awhile, than at times it did changed its tune and return again.
