Fascinating movie based on a true story about a career criminal that built a drug empire using many unique plans to become one of the biggest drug dealers in the mid west. He avoided discovery for many years. He eventually became over confident ignoring the techniques that kept him safe and helped him avoid the law. He was finally discovered by the police. The movie consists about his rise and eventual downfall. Well worth watching and very entertaining. The story isn't about violence but how he used his wit to become a successful criminal.

Based on a true story they say. Well I am so glad I never crossed to that side of the tracks. Brutal, merciless, and just plain crazy @#$%. Not my idea of living, anyway, I am a big fan of Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe and they did not fail to deliver in this action packed flick. A very good solid movie. I will surely watch it again.

4K presentation is gorgeous! Get this one if you've never seen the movie before or are a fan of the movie already. This is one of the few 4K versions that I can tell a noticeable difference between the blu ray version.

In Denzel Washington words "I'm not praising a drug dealer" but what a movie. This was big for a black man at that time. This is my second favorite Denzel Washington's movie and my second favorite mob gangster movie. If you love mob gangster movies get it. You won'the be disappointed.

A very good movie!. Denzel does, once again a stellar acting job. When I cannot see the actor playing the character, but only the character, then I consider the actor to be very good (on my criterion). Russell also was a great selection for his interpretation.

Picked this movie up on 4k on sale for $15 and it was money well spent. The image quality in this movie is phenomenal!! The restoration was done superbly. The screen ratio is also full screen which helps add to the stunning transfer.

This 4k transfer is definitely a night and day difference. A boost in contrast and deep blacks while maintaining shadow details. Audio is also a good boost. Sound is fuller in all channels. Definitely worth the upgrade

Denzel Washington is the gift that keeps on giving. His range and ability to be so believable as an actor is outstanding. Seeing this side of him just simply lets me know that here is a man that can play any role he chooses and do it well . Thumbs up!!

Really enjoyed it. Based on a true story. Will have to watch the directors cut that is included next. Its long though so dont start watching late at night like I did. Youll end up staying up and watching it all!

Excellent gangster drug king pin movie dated back in the 60's and 70's. Drugs were smuggled in and sold under the FBI'S nose for years. Add this movie to your collection. You'll be glad that you did.

this is one of those movies for me when I first saw it I thought it was just alright. But over the years you try it here and there, watching clips, and realize its a lot better than you thought. Denzels performance is really good. Not quite on par with Training Day in which I thought he was awesome in.

Denzel is excellent as always in American Gangster, as is Russell Crowe as the Police Officer trying to bring down Frank Lucas. This is the lead actor's second pairing after the Sci-fi actioner Virtuosity.

Great bargain bin price for an oldie but goody. DVDs for rainy day camping trips.

This movie was not what I thought it was going to be but ended up much better. I would recommend this to someone that has appreciation for what are men in blue go out there and do not only for the people but for our country.

Denzell and Russell are the best together based on the true story of Frank Lucas you must see you got to believe American Gangster the best

One of those movies that you can watch over and over. Looks great upscaled to 4K. Denzel and Russel are great. Not as good as Heat but in the neighborhood. If you can find the directors cut go that route
