American History X is one of the finest American films of the 1990s. It's a rather polarizing movie that tells the story of a reformed white supremacist who must, after a prison sentence for murder, keep his brother from heading down the same disastrous path he did. It seems most people either love this movie or hate it. I believe that, even if the movie isn't your cup of tea, you must respect it for its courage and unflinching honesty. The movie is an epic tragedy of the darkest side of American hate. It probes into society's seeping underbelly of racism, sexism, and violence, but its messages are ultimately those of change and the redemptive power of personal integrity.

Can’t beat this movie for $5 in the bargain bin. Edward norton was crazy in this movie

This is a really great movie. I can't wait to watch it again.

I watched this movie years ago on TV, with the language and violence toned down. It was ok. I recently spoke with a friend about it and decided to buy the DVD. WOW. What a great addition to my movie collection. This film is the perfect example of how racism and hate can destroy and corrupt young minds. It also shows how easy it is for sinister adults can take advantage of children who live in poverty and despair. Great performance from Edward Norton as well.

This movie is hard edged in terms of its reality of what being a skinhead involves. It's a life lesson...BUT...this movie also shows what's necessary to change your ways from the wrong way. You definitely need to be strong to watch this movie but it is a great life lesson for those who may have come across similar situations in their own life.

In this time of age, that we are decided instead of being united, I thought that it would be a good idea to have our 20 year old son watch this amazing movie. Edward Norton and Edward Furlong were simply spectaculars in their roles and I highly recommend the movie.
