American Hustle wasn't the year's best picture, not at the Oscars and not on paper. It may be the year's most complete picture, however, a joyful yet serious film with complex characters and deep themes built into a buoyant period exterior. One may enjoy the film as a well constructed and endlessly entertaining superficial time killer or as a more thoughtful character study. Either way -- or both ways -- it's an unforgettable experience and one of the year's must-see movies.

"American Hustle" has a lot of moving pieces and is smartly told. The ensemble cast was stellar as one might expect, with Jennifer Lawrence giving an almost scary performance as the wife of Bale's character. This was not the Jennifer I had become used to from her other roles. Recommend to anyone who is seeking a complex tale with complex characters. If you are looking for a summer popcorn action movie, then this is not for you.

David O'Russell continues his hot streak with his third straight acclaimed oscar contender, mixing in the casts of each of his previous 2 contenders. The actor's are all not only game but give themselves completely to their director and their performances and I recommend it to anyone who likes an actor's movie. The bluray picture quality and sound are top not as the signs of the times are perfectly expressed through the set designs, costumes, soundtrack and performances. I enjoyed this film immensely.

Christian Bale and Amy Adams star as two clever con artists in this star-studded blockbuster. A great plot and stellar performances from all make this a worthwhile addition to any movie buff's collection. Bradley Cooper is great as the detective who tries to get Bale and Adams' characters to implicate others in exchange for reduced sentences. Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lawrence and Louis CK are wonderful as well. Crystal-clear picture and excellent audio. Cool surprise ending. What's not to love?

American Hustle is a wonderfully directed period piece about the ABSCAM arrests in the late 70's and early 80's. The four main characters portrayed by Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence deliver stellar performances that are truly mesmerizing and entertaining. Combined with the Best Buy $5.99 price tag for Blu-ray + DVD + HD Digital makes this combo a fantastic value to add to your home video collection.

This film is absolutely fantastic! With several Oscar nominated and Oscar winning actors and actresses, this film is without a doubt mesmerizing from start to finish. Christian Bale is a true professional when it comes to sacrificing his body for his roles (e.g. gaining weight for American Hustle and losing weight for The Fighter). This film also packs a cameo appearance from a well known gangster film legend...

This is yet another winner from director David O. Russell, who is on a serious hot streak after this movie, Silver Linings Playbook, and The Fighter. Some of our best actors get to cut loose and all five (Cooper, Bale, Adams, Lawrence, Renner) are remarkable. Excellent costumes, Great, off-the-cuff cinematography. Had it played closer to the real facts the movie might've been a bit better but overall it's an excellent two hours.

If you are looking for a movie that is full of flash and bang, this one is not for you. Although the action moves along quickly, it is much more about the characters than it is about what's happening around them. I loved the acting in this movie from everyone involved, but the supporting cast far outshines the lead characters. Not much on the side of Special Features for this one, but I thought the movie alone was worth having.

Boring they where parts that where very interesting but lost me half way thru, never recovered.

Great movie. It was reliving the late '70s with the music. The acting was fabulous. Bradley Cooper and Amy Adams should have won Academy Awards and Jennifer Lawrence was quite good too. Louis CK was also hilarious. And the cameo by DeNiro was chilling. Worth owning this one. The only reason I gave the DVD Extras so low is because I never actually looked to see if there were any extras. The movie was so good, I did't waste my time with the extras if there are any.

It actually took me two viewings to realize this is one of the best comedies ever made. I originally thought it was going to be a Goodfellas-like crime story, so the first time I watched it I was left a little dumbfounded. It was until the second viewing that I truly appreciated how entertaining and funny American Hustle is. Sharp dialogue, flawless performances from everyone; it's just a great movie.

David O. Russell like some directors, catch lightning in a bottle and repeats consistently using the same actors from his previous movies. He knows what each person has given him and he gets the best out of them over and over again. Going in, I had no idea what the movie was about and from great story telling, I was able to understand it and follow it just fine. I was sucked in. Great acting and great direction!

Innovative yet astray FBI guy coerces con-guy and con-wife to infiltrate underworld for big stings in that colorful 70's era; Baby..Yeah. It portrays subcultures filled with immoral wasteful foolish nonsense yet with realistic dimensional characters. Well balanced performances and believable scripting make for entertaining plot twists and even thought provoking revelations. Ugly and entertaining.

I had heard from many people that this was a good movie so I really wanted to see it. I am a huge fan of Christian Bale, and with a cast of Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, and Bradley Cooper, where can you go wrong? Every person played their character to perfection. The storyline keeps you engulfed right from the beginning and never lets up throughout the entire film. If you love watching movies, this is definitely one worth watching.

This movie is good... this was a very good time to buy old movies during this pandemic,thanks to best buy and his employees that were still providing an excellent service, I was not only able to buy the movie but i received it so fast and it great condition, that makes me buy a few more. Thank you

David O. Russell scores again and proves that he is one of the true "actor's directors" working in Hollywood today. He gets out-of-the-park performances from everyone in his cast with Christian Bale and Amy Adams the standouts. Still, the rest of the cast is great too as Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner effectively steal most of their scenes. A great film and worth buying the Blu-Ray for the digital copy and the movie's pitch perfect score.

American Hustle was a movie that really gives a vibe of it's time (1970's), and if one looks closer the details in the movie in order to recreate that era were amazing. I loved Bradley Copper performance here and I personally felt her should've won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. The film might become a cult classic down the line, but for the moment is one o the finest films to come out of 2013. Not to mention one of the funniest.

I didn't like the wolf of wall street cause it was too vulgar and I didn't have the story line compelling. That having been said, this movie is more like the movie Catch me if you can. Maybe not as funny but certainly humorous in parts, it moved well throughout, wasn't overly vulgar (though not a family movie), and the story line was compelling. An enjoyable viewing experience that I have recommended to people.

This movie has an incredible cast including Christan Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Jennifer Lawrence. This isn't the normal type of movie I pick up on Blu-Ray but its too good to be ignored. It won several awards for a reason. It also comes with an UltraViolet Digital Copy which you can redeem and watch through various streaming services like Vudu, CinemaNow, Flixster, and many others.
