Such a great movie. David Bradley is superb as William Hartnell. The rest of the cast, just awesome. Can't recommend this enough to Doctor who fans.

This past year has seen the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. US fans of this long running British TV have grown exponentially with the reboot of the series in 2005 and with Matt Smith playing the latest incarnation of the Doctor. This BBC special movie goes back to the beginning and shows us the dramatic origins for the creation and success of Doctor Who against all odds - Verity Lambert (female producer), curmudgeonly actor William Hartnell (the original Doctor Who), and the 1st episode broadcast interrupted for coverage of US president John F. Kennedy assassination! This set contains the movie special on both Blu-Ray and DVD, along with several bonus features. Additionally, a separate bonus DVD with the very 1st Doctor Who adventure "An Unearthly Child" completes this set and makes it a great addition to add to your Doctor Who collection.

This film tells the story of how the iconic Dr. Who was started. It shows how racism and sexism in '60's U.K. were overcome by both the director and producer. There are some heart-tugging moments, especially with David Bradley's performance and the very wonderful surprise ending! My only real complaint is the lack of the Peter Davidson's "Five-ish Doctors" special. This would have been the perfect disc to include such a wonderful and humorous look at the 'other' Doctor's attempts to be included in the 50th anniversary special.

Done to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, this Docudrama covers the creation of the series through the first Doctor's period. The brief appearance of the then current Doctor (Matt Smith) was a nice touch. Extras include a loving tribute to Hartnell, as well some reconstructions of scenes from the original series as well as Deleted Scenes. As an extra bonus, the set includes the very first Doctor Who story, An Unearthly Child, as well as the unaired pilot.

Since I don't have BBC America I was happy when this UK TV movie was released here on DVD and it does not disappoint. If you are a real fan of this show you will find this story as interesting and fun as the show itself. It shows how the concept came to be and a behind the scenes look at the William Hartnell and his performance as the Doctor. You also get the complete first story as well as an unaired version of the original pilot.

The true story of how the series of Doctor Who was invented, and the trials the creators went through. Great laughs about how the insides of the iconic Tardis were created! Enjoyed seeing the Doctors through the years. Includes deleted scenes and a segment by Carol Ann Ford, who played the part of the First Doctor's companion.

It was cool to see Argus Filch as the Doctor. If you enjoy great drama, and really are a big fan of Doctor Who, this one's worth getting and watching. If you think it's too pricey, it comes with the first 4 episodes to be aired which is personally engaging since the movie makes references to these episodes. Also, David Bradley's performance as Hartnell had resonated around the end of the movie.

This is an essential for any Doctor Who fan. You will enjoy seeing how one of your favorite shows originated and almost didn't get off the ground. The cast is stellar and the actor who plays William Hartnell will make you believe it is really him. This is a great origin story and a good family movie for fans of Doctor Who young and old.

An Adventure in Space and Time is a dramatic reenactment of the genesis of Doctor Who as a television series. The high quality presentation and inclusion of DVD of the first episodes of the first episodes from the 1960s make this a must-have for fans of The Doctor.

For any diehard Doctor Who fan this movie delivers. It's the story about how a minority director, a female producer and an eccentric veteran character actor created what is arguably the world's most popular science fiction show, ever. Well written and acted it is most definitely a feel good movie that takes you through the nascent early 60's period of Doctor Who and the difficulties in its creation. Well worth the watch.

An Adventure in Time and Space is a beautifully acted, wonderfully executed love letter to the early days of the world's longest running sci-fi series. Mark Gatiss's script is funny and touching and the actors are all top notch. A perfect companion to the other 50th celebration story "Day of the Doctor.

A great look back at the genesis of one of the greatest science fiction television series in the history of the medium. The cast is picture perfect, each performance a sincere homage to the real life individuals they portray. Fans, new and especially old, will really enjoy this film. In the special features department, I really liked the "reenactments" of scenes from Dr. Who's first adventure, "An Unearthly Child". And a couple of surprises too!

Should be required viewing for all fans of the Doctor. Very high production values, an ending which had me in tears (no spoilers here), and a bonus disc of the very first Doctor Who episode. Very well done! Long live the Doctor!
