I love this thing. I've had it for a few years now and it has never let me down. I have used it to charge my phone, my little one's iPad on road trips, Nintendo Switches, Bluetooth speakers, and more.
I would like it even more if it had two USB-C ports but still a great product.

A swollen power bank

Once again, I've had an issue with my OpenBox order. The battery is broken, there is a huge crack in the back of the item, and since it's lithium, this can explode at any time. A swollen power bank can be dangerous since it can spontaneously combust or even explode. I have contact support and they only had 2 options: " As I double checked you have only two options for you one is prepaid return label and another one is you can directly visit the Best Buy store." - That was my answer: Honestly, I could have attempted to do that, but there is a significant risk involved as it could potentially cause problems with USPS. However, upon further reflection, I've decided it's best to abandon the idea altogether. I understand the potential consequences and I'm willing to accept the loss. This experience has taught me a valuable lesson. Open box only at the store

Have had quite a few Anker products over the years, have always found them to be well designed, constructed, and durable. The new Anker PowerCore III 20K power charger lives up to the Anker reputation of excellence, the power charger hits all the right notes.
The charger is slim solid cased, and the feel and weight speak highly of the quality and robust Lithium-polymer battery system.
The outer case has one control button with four blue power level indicator lights as well as the two USB-A ports and one USB-C ports power delivery port. The USB-C port is “Qualcomm Quick Charge-enabled” for fast charging.
First charge of the power charger took approximately three hours to charge from half to full charge.
Charged my Samsung Galaxy SE 20 which had a 20% charge level to full in a respectable two hours, using 25% of the Anker Power III’s charge. With the Cell Capacity of 20,000mAh should be able to charge a Samsung Galaxy SE 20 four times.

The new Anker PowerCore III portable charger arrived just in time for my four day vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday. I was traveling from the west to east coast on a five hour flight and needed to make sure that my pixel 4a phone had plenty of juice to last me for the four days. This 20,000mAh power bank was exactly what I needed for my trip. Out of the box, the power bank had around 50% charge from the factory as two of the four indicator lights lit up when I pressed the little round button near the top of the power bank. I didn’t want to take any chances and made sure I topped it off before my trip. It’s relatively lightweight, weighing in at 12 oz. and measures roughly the length and width dimensions of a typical phone, but thicker. It fits snugly in my pants front pocket along with my phone. At the airport TSA checkpoint, the security folks went through all of my electronics and closely examined the Anker power bank. They had to squint, but they finally saw that the PowerCore III is rated at 72 Whr which is well within the FAA 100 Whr allowance. If anything I have to complain about this portable charger is the fact that Anker made the 72 Whr print too tiny and there was barely any contrast between the text and the black color of the power bank, which makes it difficult for the security officials to clearly read the label. Once I got through the checkpoint, it was smooth sailing with the PowerCore in hand. I didn’t have to sit at the airport’s crowded cell phone charging station. The Anker PowerCore charged my phone without issue and the large 20K capacity was more than enough to power my phone through my four day trip. I also tested how long it would take the battery to recharge from a fully drained state. It took approximately 7 hours to fully recharge.
The PowerCore III also has a neat feature where it can provide a trickle charge to low power electronics such as headphones.
One thing I would improve on the PowerCore is to have a digital readout of the percent battery remaining instead of the four indicator lights.
Would I recommend the Anker PowerCore III? I have two other power banks rated at 20K. Those are non-branded power banks. They are heavier, larger, and take 10 hours plus to recharge from a fully depleted state. Also, despite their claims of 20K capacity, I get nowhere close to the number of charges that I can get from the Anker PowerCore. So, the PowerCore III wins on all fronts. I highly recommend the PowerCore III.

The Anker powercore III a solid yet powerful battery pack. This power bank is very well built and has this nice stylish design. It is slim and kind of looks like a phone and fits well in the pocket. With a slim design it comes lightweight, it feels like holding two phones at once. This battery is a 20k mAh, it holds over 90+ hours of charge. It has 2 USB-A connections and 1 USB-C. The USB-C socket is multi purpose, it is used to charge the battery pack or to fast charge your phone. To use the fast charge feature you have to use a USB-C to USB-C cable which is not provided.
I was able to charge three devices at once, two phones one via fast charging and a smartwatch. The battery performed extremely well, I was very impressed it only dropped like 1 dot. Charging with the USB-A took about 1 hour and 10 minutes to charge a phone with 51% battery level. On the top it has this button which you can press to display the battery level in 4 blue dots. The button can also be used to activate the trickle charging feature that can prevent overcharging your wireless headphones. It was very nice from Anker to include a carrying bag for this battery.
Overall for the price you get a powerful battery pack from a trusted brand with a slim design, lightweight and some neat features. In the box you’ll get the battery pack, USB-A to USB-C cable, manuals and a carrying bag.

Anker - PowerCore III 20K mAh USB-C Portable Battery Charger
This is all about choices and value. Anker has garnered a well-deserved reputation for performance and value in virtually every product category in which it competes. Here, in the portable battery charger category, they shine for a few good reasons.
As an Anker customer for many years, including in this category, I have observed their progress. One of the reasons I purchase and recommend their battery chargers as well as their wall chargers is reliability and longevity. I can count on Anker.
There may be other brands that claim to best the features and specs of Anker’s portable battery chargers, but in my searches and experience, there is always a little “Gotcha.” Either there is no cable provided, or there is less than the 20W output that Anker provides here. Or they are new to the business, or, or, or.
Strong and steady, with genuine, useful and beneficial improvements and incremental benefits over prior battery packs. New to me in this iteration is a long press of the power button that activates trickle charge mode for charging of low-requirement devices, including headsets.
Anker’s basic industrial design features a mildly textured, cross-hatch look on the top surface of many of their battery packs, including this one.
The slim design is common among Anker as well as other brands as in the Lithium Polymer battery inside the rugged case.
**WHAT’S IN THE BOX**
• Anker PowerCore III 20K mAh battery charger
• USB-C to USB-A dual purpose cable for charge/recharge
• Storage/transport bag
• Documentation
**THE SETUP**
Once opened, charge using the provided cable, connected from the USB-C port on the battery pack to a USB-A charging port on the power source for charging. Nominal charge time is 7.5 hours on a fully depleted PowerCore III. Slow charging may be beneficial when connecting ear buds and other similar low demand devices.
The power button is a newly designed item. On one of my other Anker portable battery chargers, there is an LED circle of tiny lights that goes all around the button. On this one, there are just four tiny LEDs to uncomplicate the at-a-glance battery capacity.
After charging, it’s time to . . .
**PUT IT TO THE TEST**
It gets no simpler than this. Find something in need of a little juice and charge it. Or charge two devices using the charging cables from the device(s).
iPhone, Android phone, various headsets, earphones and earbuds, tablets charged without issue. Of course, this battery has 20,000 mAh of power inside.
In simplest terms, it will charge less than a 30,000 mAh battery and twice as much as a 10,000 mAh battery.
With two USB-A ports, this one is capable of charging two whatevers at a time.
Fast charging of phones and certain tablets requires a device that is fast-charge capable AND a cable designed for the device to be charged. The cable provided with the battery is USB-A on one end and USB-C on the other. Fast charging requires use of the USB-C port on the battery and USB-C on the other end.
With the proper cable, quick-charge capable devices charged quickly as designed.
There is NO way to tell readers how fast this will charge their devices. There are too many variables. Just know that it performs as advertised.
**CONCLUSION**
Yes, this is the real deal! It works and it works well, in customary Anker fashion.
Do not hesitate to buy if this meets your needs. If your needs exceed this 20,000 mAh battery, choose a higher powered Anker model from Best Buy.
**WARRANTY**
Anker provides their 18-month warranty.

Huge capacity does it right

Being that this Anker PowerCore III 20K mAh USB-C Portable Battery Charger has a very large capacity I tested it by first charging it up using my USB-C charger from a Samsung phone. I believe it arrived almost 75% charge because it did not take more than approx. 40 minutes for a full charge.
I then used it to charge my other LG Android phone, followed by 2 pairs of Bluetooth earphones and 2 sets of Bluetooth headphones followed by an old iPod that I fished out of the drawer. All were charged up and the Anker battery still showed it had approximately 50% reserve capacity left to do it all over again.
The device comes with a thick mesh case that makes it easy to also transport it with the supplied charging cable: the cable will allow both charging the Anker battery or allow use to charge USB-C devices. It also has two full size USB A ports to make it compatible with non-USB-C devices.

Really Surprised Me

BUILD QUALITY/AESTHETICS/FEATURES:
The top of the device has a pattern/textured design along with some branding and a button. The sides and bottom are all normal plastic. The button takes light amount of actuation force to press, with moderate spring back force, leading to a semi-crisp click with a bassy audible click. I like it. If you press the button once, it will show you how much battery is left via blue LEDs (1 = 0 – 25%, 2 = 26 – 50%, 3 = 51 – 75%, 4 = 76 – 100%). If you double press this button, it activates Trickle Charge Mode indicated by the 3rd LED being blue while the 4th LED is green. Which is the best way to power low-power accessories such as earbuds. The LED lights stay on during the entirety of charging. They are also angled in a way that you can’t see them when the device is flat unless if you are looking over it.
On the right side are two USB A ports and a single USB C port. The two USB ports work as “IQ” ports. Meaning it has Qualcomm Quick Charge. It is certified safe to protect your devices when charging (overload protection). You can charge up to 3 devices at a time. I found I used the USB A ports to charge my smaller devices such as my iPhone Pro 12, Apple AirPods Pro, and Jabra Elite 7 Pro. I used the USB C port to charge bigger devices such as my iPad Pro 12.9 Inch and MacBook Air. The USB C port is also how you charge the Powerbank. This takes a LONG time to charge. They report 7.5 hours. From my testing that is pretty accurate. The length of time it takes to charge an external device varies depending on that devices capability. My iPhone and wireless earbuds charged quickly. My iPad and MacBook Air (both of which I don’t think this device is made to charge) got the job done but over a long period of time and isn’t recommended.
TESTING:
IPHONE 12 PRO FIRST CHARGE:
iPhone 31% | Anker ~25 – 50%.
After 1 hour it was 88% | Anker still ~25 – 50%.
IPHONE 12 PRO SECOND CHARGE:
iPhone 14% | Anker ~25 – 50%
80 minutes later 92% | Anker ~0 – 25% left
IPAD PRO 12.9 Inch (Gen 5):
iPad 75% | Anker 0-25%
After 90 minutes 90%.
MACBOOK AIR:
Mac 31% | Anker 100%
After 26 min 43%.
I forgot to check early so by 10:04 it was fully charged. But unsure for how long. Used 50% of Anker battery.
CONCLUSION:
I was shocked to see how fast it charged my smaller devices. I was also surprised that it was able to charge my iPad and MacBook Air. As I wasn’t expecting that. Granted it took a lot longer than the normal charger would and I couldn’t use the device at the same time. The 20,000 milliampere hours is a lot allowing you to either charge one device multiple times, or multiple devices before needing to recharge the Power Bank. However, charging the Anker device takes a LONG time. I recommend charging it overnight. I also love that it supports quick charging and has overload protection, so I don’t damage my devices. It comes with a USB A to USB C cord. I wish it also came with a USB C to USB C. The carrying case is lackluster. It would have been nice to have pockets for the cord(s). Overall, its an easy recommendation.
