This product really helps when you can’t change out your cars stock radio. There is a bit of background static but that’s why it’s important to find a station with the least amount of interference as possible. But for the price it’s a good Bluetooth assistant.

Now that headphone jacks are disappearing from phones, it's getting harder and harder to find ways to connect mobile devices to older car stereo systems. Anker's ROAV chargers aim to fix this, offering a cheap way to add bluetooth connectivity to older cars without requiring a whole new head unit. And for the most part it works great - though there are definitely a few caveats.
Setup is pretty easy - all you need to do is plug it into a 12v outlet and pair it to your phone. No special app is required, a rarity these days, and you can hook it into your car's audio either via an aux cable or by retransmitting to the radio. Of the two, the cabled connection is definitely superior. The radio signal is passable, but audio quality is underwhelming and it's very sensitive to EM noise (particularly if you're simultaneously charging a device.) Speakerphone performance is decent, but highly dependent on where the unit is installed. In my prius, for example, I have to put it inside the armrest storage compartment since that's where the aux port is located. The only way anyone can hope to hear me on a call is if I happen to have the armrest open at the time, which isn't exactly convenient.
There is one issue though that keeps me from giving it a full five stars: even with the aux cable, this thing is HIGHLY sensitive to EM interference. I don't think this is entirely the fault of the device - the Prius's wiring in general seems prone to kicking out a lot of noise - but it's certainly to blame for some of it. As mentioned, charging a device while using it as a radio transmitter is highly problematic. Unfortunately the same goes for trying to use it with an aux cable. Charging anything from the ports on the device introduces a lot of static into the signal, and fast charging introduces even more. To me this suggests that there's just not enough shielding between the charging circuitry and the audio system, which seems like a fairly obvious problem to miss. I suspect this might be a concession to size, as everything's got to be layered on top of each other to get it to fit in this case, but it can have a pretty big impact on usability. I actually just stopped charging from the thing entirely. And frankly it makes me wonder if perhaps they might be able to improve things a bit if they dropped the charging functionality entirely and just focused on building something with sufficient shielding/power conditioning to deliver high quality audio without requiring you to carefully balance volume levels between all the different devices in the circuit.

Runs great, immediately connects to my phone upon powering on, charges decently quickly as well. Seems to boost the audio and bass, don't love it all the time but didn't bother me on that much on a 6 hour drive.

A friend turned me on to this. I was looking for an easy to use very functional hands free speaker phone. This fits the bill. I Installed it, pugged it in skimmed the user guide and it worked. Plays audio over an unused FM station so you can turn the volume up and down with the radio volume knob. Picks up your voice and the called party hears you very well. Awesome.
