Long time Windows user switching to Mac

Ok so back story, I have always been a PC guy and have had about 3 HP laptops that I liked very much, never failed me until they started to run slow each time. I was also an Android user as well but when my Samsung S8+ failed me, I ditched it and got an iPhone 8+. Liked it so much I thought since I need a new computer and I'm not going to school anymore I wanted a nice desktop why not give Apple a shot. Come in early access to Black Friday shopping. Found an iMac within my price range and decided to pull the trigger. Glad I did. Just the unpacking of the computer was something of beauty. Everything feels top notch and says quality. From the nice touches of aluminum on the body of the screen, the wireless keyboard and mouse that come already paired to your computer from the box was a nice touch. it is a bit of getting used to having to learn a new OS but you get used to it. A couple of google searches to figure out the same key short cuts on the windows key board helped out. I definitely would say this computer is worth it. Looks aesthetically pleasing and functions perfectly for my needs.

First off, about 3 weeks later after purchasing the Mac Mini, I wanted to try the iMac out. Because given the fact I use the Mac Mini for everything, from daily usage to music production via GarageBand, I needed a second computer. Using Microsoft Windows and PC's over the years, I wanted to learn how to use MacOS and how to work on an Apple Computer. Given the fact I've worked on and repaired computers for 11 years now, I wanted to learn MacOS and Apple and expand what I know on computers. I decided to give this one a try. I am very happy with the specs, 8GB RAM, 2.3GHZ i3 Dual Core CPU, with turbo clock to 3.6GHZ, for the power hungry processes and applications. So I tried it, right out of the box, I was impressed. And it ran a little slower than what I expected because I was using computers with a Solid State Drive and not much with a traditional Hard Drive. So I actually cloned the hard drive that came with it, and upgraded to a Solid State Drive, and the iMac runs phenomenal. Runs great. Very much worth the money. The upgrade wasn't that hard to do, but not something that can be done unless you know a great deal about computers and know the hardware and installation. Turns out, VERY MUCH like working on an All In One PC. Except there are no screws, but had to use a special tool and new adhesive tape to take the screen off to get to the hard drive, but overall, worth the money. Great buy. Again, just like with any Mac, you can run Windows 10 via Apple Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop. Ultimately, you have THE ULTIMATE PERSONAL COMPUTER. You're not limited to just MacOS and Applications alike, or Windows and Applications alike, you have the best of both worlds. I recommend this iMac.

This computer along with many other apple products is quick, easy, and convenient to use while doing school work or just to pass the time. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it breaking down anytime soon unlike other computers I have bought in the past. It is sure to last me a few years or more. Great buy for a discounted price.

I just bought this entry level IMac. I did a ton of research. I want to thank Dell for giving me the push to switch from Windows. A bad BIOS update killed my Dell laptop and Dell refused to help because the machine was out of warranty when it was the firmware update that caused the issue. Yes, this is confirmed fact. Let’s talk about this computer. I’m not doing super heavy work. Mostly documents and some photo editing. I don’t need the biggest or baddest, nor do I need the middle tier. I did move the OS over to a 500G solid state drive. The slow 1T, 5400 RPM internal drive will be used for extra storage. Boot times and apps/programs are blazing fast. The trick is knowing the work you want to do and which Mac you need to do that work. This computer meets and exceeds my work flow need. I highly recommend this computer if it will do what you need it to do. Do pick up a solid state drive and have Apple Support walk you through making it your boot and primary drive.

I have been so happy with this computer. Very user friendly and I love how sleek it is. It's actually nice to look at sitting on the desk. This screen is a perfect size. The 27 inch was too big for me.

This is my first Mac and I was a little wary of having to learn a new interface after years of Windows. But after just a day or two I’m a total convert. There are a few things that aren’t super obvious how to do for someone who’s never used a MAC before, but a few quick internet searches and you’ll find your answer. It’s a much more user friendly system and super fast compared to my old laptop. I do a lot of photo editing as well and the image display is just beyond amazing. Oh and my favorite part? There’s ONE cord. It makes the minimalist in me so happy. Highly recommend!!

I have been a loyal Apple Mac fan for almost 30 years. This specific iMac is extremely well built and incredibly reliable. This unit replace a 10 year old iMac that I finally had to trade in since Apple no longer offered software upgrades. It was still working well and I donated it to a local Senior center. My wish is that it carry out the remaing years of its useful life allowing Seniors to connect with distant family members and friends via email and face time! You just can’t kill a Mac computer. Yes they are expensive but if you consider having to replace a windows PC every 3-4 years vs every 10 years with a Mac the ROI is the best in the consumer computer industry. The speed of this machine combined with the amazing screen is second to none. Transferring the data from my old Mac to the new one was seamless. If you are looking for a great value and a computer that just works, buy this or any Mac computer. You won’t be disappointed.

    The latest iMac

I bought my first computer, an iMac, in 1997. Since then my family bought only Apple products. Only one of the Apple computers died a "natural death" - old age (my first iMac, 8 y.o.). The Notebooks eventually had water, coffee or beer spilled on the keyboard - all preventable. When considering the replacement of my latest Notebook (8 y.o., another drowning) it made sense to go back to the iMac. I rarely ever took my Notebook off my desk at home. The iMac's larger screen and data storage capacity made the most sense. Best Buy had the computer in stock and waiting for me after I placed my order online. I unpacked the box, plugged the iMac in, powered up, and life went on. It was trivial to upload my applications and data from my back-up external hard drive. Old computer died on a Friday night, the new computer was up and running on Saturday morning. Thank you, Best Buy, for providing the immediate availability of my new iMac at a great price. And as always, the operating system is so intuitive that my adjustments to all the upgrades were seamless. PC's have improved tremendously, but I will always buy a Mac for it's ease of use and durability .... just don't spill any liquid on those Notebook keyboards.

    Great desktop for apple lovers

When I was a kid my family had a big clunky desktop that we all used (as long as my older sister wasn't on the phone, man dial up internet sucked) but since then I've always used laptops, and thought I would never need a desktop. I got a Macbook Pro a few years ago and it got me through my undergrad, but I found myself getting frustrated with the screen size and the fact that I had to hunch over while typing 30+ page papers didn't help things. I use iMacs at my university for editing and other things, so I was familiar with these machines, and I have to say that buying one was one of the best purchases I've made. The monitor is sleek and crystal clear, the colors are sharp, and the mouse is super responsive. The only problem I had was a little hiccup when I first installed Home Office for Mac and Word crashed the first time I opened it, but I haven't had problems with it or any other program since. I find the mouse and keyboard to be comfortable to use and they both hold a charge for weeks at a time, and I love that I can tilt the monitor to make it more comfortable to look at without having to put anything under it to lift it up. Another great feature is that I have it synced up to my iPhone so I am able to text and answer phone calls right from my desktop, which I find limits the temptation to mess around on my phone instead of getting work done.

I have wanted to purchase an iMac for a while, but the price has always stopped me. I purchased this during Black Friday sales, and got it for a great price. It was very easy to set up, and sync to my other Apple products. The keyboard lays really flat, which for me, makes typing a little harder. The mouse works as expected. My only complaint is that it takes a while, when I first turn it on, for it to start. On some sites, it takes a minute to load and I get the spinning circle. Other than that, I have no issues with this computer. Although the screen is not the retina display, it is still a very nice screen.

I am a video editor and photographer that has been working from a Macbook Pro for years. Having a larger screen and a desktop setup allows me to edit video and photo in a more time efficient way. I was concered about the processing speed because on paper, it looks like it is less than my Macbook from 2011, but I did some research and learned that the upgrades Apple does each year make this new model much faster than the processor I was using. Very pleased with my purchase.

Mac makes a great computer but now here’s why you read reviews. 1- Yes, the 7th generation processor is faster than the 2015 IMAC. 2- Apple left out the DVD drive and other stuff to make it thinner, WHY? It’s a desktop not a laptop. 3. You can not upgrade it yourself. Apple overcharges you to upgrade. 4.The worst thing is that Apple is so ahead of the times, that there is only USB and Thunderbolt.... you need to pay for an adapter for anything else. STILL and great operating system and product but now I have adapters and a DVD drive around because Apple wanted to make it thinner.

In short, the new Mac is a beautiful piece of hardware. I purchased it from Best Buy during Black Friday and was able to snag one for as low as $800 (before Apple Care). It is pretty light and does not take up too much space on my limited working space. I use it for programming and running 3d model simulations. Have not had a problem yet. I would recommend buyers to up the processor for better performance, but nonetheless, it is still pretty fast.

I've always been a Windows guy, going back over 20 years. However with Windows 10, I've had so many buggy issues I cannot stand it any longer. I decided to take advantage of Best Buy's Black Friday deal and get an iMac and it's an excellent machine. Not only does it look incredible, but it also works so fast. I still have to get used to a few things on it but overall it's fantastic and fast; something I cannot say for Windows 10.

The new 2017 iMac is a big improvment over my 2009 iMac - faster, better screen, better processors and can take advantage of my Comcast 200+ MBPS speeds. The onboard High Sierra OS takes a bit of getting used to from my old Mountain Lion (10.8.5) - but is faster and easily as stable an OS I like the rechargeable mouse and keyboard - will save on those AA batteries, and the iMac is thinner. I will miss the old on board CD reader but already have a USB exterior drive Overall I am really liking the speed and functionality
