I love getting these cards instead of putting my debit card on my account. The amount is in there and I only make purchases from the amount I had on the gift card - not my debit card. That way I don't spend too much.

Gift cards are good if you don't know which video games your niece or nephew already has. I give a combination of iTunes and Best Buy gift cards because I know the teens will enjoy redeeming them.
