Customers are saying

Customers praise the 27" iMac's large screen size and ease of use, frequently citing its excellent performance and sleek design as additional strengths. While some find the price high, the lack of a built-in DVD drive is another common point of feedback. Many appreciate the readily available RAM upgrades.

If you are thinking about switching to a Mac this is the way to go. Beautiful screen, lots of RAM and a nice fat HD. There are a few caveats though. It doesn't come with a DVD drive, if you want one you should pick up the Superdrive. The keyboard that comes with it is not a full size one with a number pad, if you want it you will have to buy a separate one.

I've used iMacs since 2011, and while they're not all they're cracked up to be, I do like them. I switched because I liked the idea of not having to worry as much about viruses. Sure, there was a bit of a learning curve, as well as compatibility issues, but overall not too bad, except for MS Office for Mac 2011. If you use Outlook, there are functionalities that you had with Windows that are not in the Mac software (no back button, can't copy emails, have to type in folder name you want to move an email to instead of just choosing it, etc.) According to a MS representative, Apple limits them as to what they can put in their software for Macs because Apple wants you to use THEIR office software. Geez. My first Mac (21.5 inch in 2011) came with Snow Leopard. When Mavericks was offered for free, I upgraded, thinking things could only get better, right? Wrong. Outlook had issues. So when Yosemite came out, I upgraded to it hoping to “heal” Outlook, but Outlook developed even more issues and crashed when I was trying to fix it. I asked a local mac technician if I could downgrade my OS back to Snow Leopard and he said no. So that is what led me to having to buy a new computer- this 27 inch iMac. I will NEVER upgrade operating systems ever again on a computer or phone. Just use what the computer came with and what it’s hardware and software was designed for. Not too happy with the Mac keyboard, either. I'm used to 10-keying and the provided keyboard does not have one. So I bought the LMP 10-key that attaches to the Mac keyboard via a slot or groove that fits between the two. While mostly reliable, I have had lots of times where the 10-key disconnects from Bluetooth randomly. So it would be very helpful if the bluetooth keyboard that is provided with iMacs would have the 10 key keypad on there already so you don’t have to buy one more thing and mess with connecting yet another bluetooth device. The other gripe I have about the keyboard is you have to cramp your fingers up to do the Mac version of CTRL + C (or X, or whatever, depending on what shortcut you need), which is Command + C, etc. Also, unless you have a 10 key attached, you don't have a way to delete characters to the right of your cursor, only to the left. Another inconvenience. And make the keyboard solar! I'm waiting on a Logitech solar keyboard to come in. Ditching the Apple one on my most-used computer. Tired of all the batteries- between the Mac mouse, 10-key and the keyboard, seems I'm always changing batteries. So the Logitech keyboard has no batteries to change and has 10 key already! I do like the 21.5 and 27 inch screens. I don't think the 27 makes that much of a difference, though, and kinda wish I would have just bought another 21.5 inch. I have several programs, windows and applications open at the same time, so I thought the 27 would really help. It helps to help a little in some cases, but probably not enough to justify the price diff between the 21.5 and 27. The top of the 27 inch screen is higher than the 21.5, also, so I find myself straining my neck back a bit to use the whole screen. I'm getting used to it after a month + now, but still, for someone with neck and back problems, it can be a pain. Pun intended. ;) I can't raise my office chair up any further, either. I do like the all-in-one feature of the computer. I don't have room for a tower, so having just a screen to deal with fits my needs. The computer looks nice on my desk, too, and adds a touch of modernity to my office. Time Machine has been unreliable on my 21.5 inch. We’ll see what happens with the 27. Welllll,,,, hopefully I won’t have to find out! And, I do NOT like the fact that the new Macs DON'T HAVE A DISK DRIVE!! I didn't know this until I brought the 27 inch home and went to put a disk in it and was like, "Where is the disk drive?!?!" Fortunately, I still have my 2011 21.5 inch Mac. There are still times we need to use disks, Apple!!! Another issue I have with Macs is there is no refresh button in Finder. In my work, that would come in very handy.

All the wonders of an iMac with a giant screen

This iMac is just as great as my old iMac, but comes with a much bigger and better display screen. It has plenty of space to have multiple windows open without having them overlap and partially cover each other. For people who have a little trouble reading small print, this screen is the answer. And when it comes to working on your digital pictures, you can view a large group of images at the same time, making everything easier. I also love that is is wireless for both talking to the Internet and the printer. One thing I do miss from my older iMac is that it does not have a built in DVD/CD disk drive.

It was running within 5 minutes off taking it out of the box. I upgraded to Mavericks which was easy to do. I was not keen on the magic mouse at first, but the scrolling function of just dragging your finger over the top of the mouse, won me over. Right-click functionality is also good. The iMac does not have an internal CD/DVD drive, but I already had an external USB drive, so no big deal. The external drive is not an Apple product, but plugs right in and works just fine. Also, If you don't like the wireless mouse, just plug in a USB mouse. Works just fine and you don't need to load drivers. I did have to download some drivers for my Canon printer, but that I expected. In short, works great.

This is my first Mac, which I bought for IOS programming. The screen is huge, but the text on it tends to be small. I had to lower the resolution to make things bigger. Something I was surprised by is a lack of built in cd/dvd drive. The computer is nice, it just takes time to get used to.

I was skeptical about having an all in one computer, but my wife wanted something for the kitchen. Given that the only cable involved is the power cable, it really keeps out the clutter. The form factor is perfect and it is a gorgeous item that you don't mind having on display in a common area - unlike most other computers. This is also our first apple purchase and we both built our own computers previously. The Haswell core intel processor is smoking fast. I installed bootcamp and Windows 7 and got amazing gaming performance out of it, which shocked me. The only downside is that the hard disk is mechanical. Even at 7200 RPM it is slow compared to any solid state drive. Given that we wanted a reasonably future proof all in one, we decided to return it based on this one fact. If it had a solid state, we would have kept it. I'm still giving it 5 stars because I would highly recommend it to anyone.

i am an apple customer and this is a great computer. The only improvement would be to include the dvd unit with the computer. So much media is still carried on cd or dvd format. Apple needs to include written instruction with the product so users can have a refferance to solve so minor problems.

After many years of using only PCs I decided to try Apple. I'm extremely glad that I made this choice and will never use another product other than Apple I have switched all of my devices to Apple iPhone iPad and now IMac. It takes a little getting used to after using a PC for so many years but I promise you will never regret purchasing an Apple product!

I'm used to a pc so this has been different for me to use. I did need help learning the new system. Wish Best Buy offered more in-store tutorials. Some of the products you need to use with this Apple don't alway work well. Like the Blu-Ray drive and the HP printer. Apple doesn't offer a printer specifically for their computer. There is not an internal CD/DVD drive.

I recently bought an iMac 27" computer and was very disappointed to find that there isn't a CD/DVD drive in this computer. When I bought it, I assumed there was, and was very surprised to find that I have to buy an external drive, even just to load the Best Buy security software. Someone should have mentioned this to me!!

The new 27-inch iMac is simply beautiful as with most Mac products. Setup was simple out of the box, on my network and running within minutes. I migrated from an early 2008 24-inch iMac using Setup Assistant; seamless, quick, and simple but requires a GigaBit-E connection (don't do this over wireless regardless of what the Mac tells you!). The only downsides to this machine are: 1) The lack of a CD/DVD drive as many software suites still require the use of discs. 2) The need to update peripherals to work with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt. Yes, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible to 2.0 but why have that crutch? Firewire peripherals (such as my external hard drive) must also be updated to be Thunderbolt compatible. All in all, a beautiful and simple machine as with most Mac products. You get what you pay for!

I am a completely new MAC user. I like the size of the monitor and the space it leaves in my desk. It has been really inconvenient to not have a disk drive. Also, I do not have a number pad on the keyboard. I knew that before buying it but I didn't realize how much I was used to those two features. The computer itself is not as fast as I would like it to be especially since it is new. The only programs I've downloaded are Adobe Photoshop and Bridge. It's too much hype and money to have this computer.

The best of the All-in-one computers. This design includes an extremely powerful quad core CPU combined with one of the best displays. The only (and I do mean only) thing lacking is an integrated DVD/CD drive...which I was able to find a decent one on sale for $20. Overall, could not be happier

I have been hesitant to dive into the MAC world, but have the Iphone and Ipad and love those products. The fact that I could syn all of them was very appealing. I am loving learning this system and I know that when I am more comfortable with it I will love it even more. It is so straight forward. Very easy to set up, BUT be aware there is NO DVD drive.
