Customers are saying

Customers value the large screen size, ease of use, and performance of the 27" iMac with Retina 5K display. Many appreciate the high-resolution display and fast Fusion Drive, although some find the price point high and the included mouse less than ideal. Positive feedback also highlights the powerful graphics capabilities suitable for photo editing. A few users mentioned wanting more USB ports and expressed some concerns about the software.

I recently got my fully loaded Imac. The screen is unbelievably detailed and beautiful. This is among the very best you can get for a good professional photography workflow. If your camera is 14.7 megapixel than you can view the entire photo's detail on screen! I'm also impressed at how well it runs games. It's overkill, but you can play Dirt 3 at the full 5k resolution at a playable frame rate. You're better off running a lower res and getting a blistering frame rate, but it can be done. Buy through mac and upgrade the ram and graphics card at the very least.

Nice computer, but if I could return I would. There isnt enough programs and apps for an iMac like there is a PC -- especially when I m using this for work purposes. I have to download work apps and programs to my iPad to use them because they don't offer for the iMac!!!

I own and use 12 different apple products, and for the first time am disappointed with this product. Have been having problems with the system and even though I've purchased AppleCare the problem has not been solved and apple continues to struggle with a solution. On the positive side, the apple people have been very courteous and are very attentive to the issue....just no solutions.

Apple makes the best desktop computer money can buy. The iMac design is unmatched. It's really amazing how thin they have been able to make these. My only issue I have with these is that for some reason Apple continues to stick a mechanical hard drive in the very base model (not this one). However, the Fusion Drive in this model is great - very fast. If you're looking for a desktop computer, just spend the money and get an iMac. You won't be disappointed.

I would never have paid 3k for a computer such as this had I known how slow 2TB fusion drive would be. Shame on you Apple!

After 1 year of researching, I finally purchased the 27 inch, 2 tb, iMac. I capitalized on the 400 dollars off from a price match. Priority of why I purchased this iMac, 1) large clear screen to enjoy and use for photo/video editing... Web surfing too! 2) large SSD to augment the 2 tb disk drive (fusion). I did not want to get the smaller, anemic SSD with the 1tb fusion drive and regret it later. I'm sure it is a good system though. 3) large 2tb drive for storage in the future. 4) good graphics card to work with video and photography editing. I have installed MS office. This purchase fully transitioins me from Windows to Mac. I have the iphone, and the iPad for portability. Now I have a powerful computer to use at home when I need to spend some time getting a lot of work done. I have everything I need. I'm very, very happy I finally made the jump to a Mac. Good bye Windows. Hello Simple! JV

I bought this as an open box. It turns out it had a faulty graphics card (probably the reason it was returned) but a trip to an Apple store, and a week later I had this brand new machine. I don't fault the product or Best Buy, as I knew the risks in buying an open box, and the discount was worth having to wait a week to use it. That being said, if you're a Mac Fanboi, you're going to love this thing. The display is truly incredible, no doubt, but honestly, for the price, this is not a great spec'd machine. Now, not to be the Mac hater, I generally run Linux on PCs, I am not a WinBoi. If given the option though, I would ordinarily pick the WinBox. I chose the Mac for 2 reasons: 1.) I do still/video photography, and play several instruments. Final Cut Pro is absolutely the best software available regardless of price, and Garage Band is dollar for dollar the best sound editing software available. 2.) It was an open box, and $500 off. I *wanted* the Mac for the purposes listed, but the cost was a dealbreaker. The $500 allowed me to pick this instead of getting a WinBox and working around the software. So, this is not my first Mac, but it is my first *new* Mac. Here's where the disappointment comes in: it's only marginally faster than my 2010 Mac Mini. Half the RAM, a quarter of the processor, and a crippled video card, and it's only a *little* faster. Both are running El Cap, and yes benchmarks point to the iMac, but not 20 times greater. I paid $100 for the Mini from Craigslist. I have a 15" Macbook Pro (Ret 4K) assigned to me at work, and I cannot tell the difference, despite it being a year older. Also, the graphics card is not remotely top tier. In bootcamp, Skyrim runs better on my 5 year old Lenovo laptop. Seriously. Sure, it does push 5K resolution, but it doesn't do it fast. If you decide to buy this workstation, keep in mind that yes, the display is incredible. And photo work and video work is fantastic. If you're a photographer this is a no-brainer...if the price is right. If you're paying full price, well....that's a tough call. Would I recommend? Yes, but only if you have specific needs for it.
