To avoid problems, I prefer OEM Apple cables. However, many of those sold as OEM on eBay, Walmart, Amazon, etc. for lower prices are, in fact, cheap knockoffs. Best Buy sells real Apple cables and, when on sale, these cost less than from Apple itself. All cables can break. But if you handle these with care, they will last for years.

I brought this because I need an extra charger for my iPhone, its the original one since it from Apple so no problems with it not being supported like some other third party chargers. For the price that you pay for this its well worth it, they last me a long time and the only reason that I'm getting a new one is because I needed an extra to have for my office.

I’ve tried other cables, depending on the brand, they can either work okay or horrible in my experience. That’s why I only buy OEM cords now. They last 2+ years and work as expected. Sure they go bad over time, but if your on your phone a lot while it’s charging.. They will go bad quicker unless the cord is relatively straight at the end.

Though a little more costly than generic brands from the local gas station, etc., I've never had an Apple lightning connector fail. Worth the extra $$ for dependability, 'cause you KNOW when the cheap one you bought will fail.... right when you need it most. Note that BB also now carries a one foot version (that's right, one foot long!) for car charging.

Everyone needs an extra cable because they eventually will wear out. When they do, most will grab the cheaper one, only to have them stop working at the worst time. I've done it, and you've done it too. I quit wasting my time and money on the ripoffs. The genuine Apple cable may be a little more money, but I'm not gonna wonder when this is going to crap out on me.

The Best buy assistant showed me some other charging cables as well for my kid's iPhone charger that were a different brand, and cost less. I appreciated him showing the customer the variety, but after comparing several cables, we purchased the more expensive Apple cable because it seemed a lot more sturdy. There was an obvious difference in quality.
