    I have a MacBook Pro 15in w/ Retina Display and I previously used an 85w charger since 2013. Sometimes I have to attach this 45w charger to my mac a few different times for the light to come on and for it to actually charge. Otherwise, if the light doesn't come on with the charger it shows up on my mac as charging but it will only stall the battery.

    My guess is that, like me, you have to buy this because you need to replace an old one. My only desire is that Apple made these cat-bite proof. ;-)
