Needed to transfer large music and photo library to second hard drive. From my iMac to external HD via USB it was going to take 9+ hours and then again from the HD to macbook another 9 hours, from the iMac to the Macbook via Thunderbolt directly I was done in 45 minutes, and that included the time it took to drive to the store and purchase it.

Thunderbolt is fast way to send data or link devices on a Mac. I use it with my audio interface and it works great.

I bought this cable to rapidly transfer information from my old Mac to a new one. While it's lots faster than using an ethernet cable, the transfer speed was no faster than USB 3. I found it useful for the original transfer, but not much else.

This is needed for data transfer from mac to mac. Cable is great. Go with apple brand of the thunderbolt cable

We're past USB and Firewire, thunderbolt is crazy fast. And this chord is sturdy yet pliable. It's a good buy.

I needed a longer cable than the one that is attached to the Apple Thunderbolt Display so I can easily store my Mac mini away to its hidden. I was concerned it wouldn't work as good as the built wire (the inline power and thunderbolt from the back of the display) but it works flawlessly. The cable itself is pretty durable and was however a little pricy at $39.99 but I needed it and didn't trust 3rd party cables for this. Overall worth the buy.

I required a means to transfer my iTunes files from my iMac to a MBP. I first attempted to use Home Sharing option in iTunes - it was convenient, but very slow. I went to Best Buy in search of a faster solution and the knowledgeable sales person recommended this cable. I was amazed at how much faster the transfer was using Thunderbolt versus to the original Home Sharing attempt. A little pricey, but time = $.

Does exactly what it says, Apple made a good strong cable. Not too long, not too short.
