I've been using the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation for a couple of weeks now, and honestly, they're a solid upgrade if you're in the Apple ecosystem and hate the idea of silicone tips jamming into your ears. At $179, they're not cheap, but they feel like a smart middle ground between the basic AirPods and the Pro models—especially if you want some noise blocking without that sealed-in feeling.
First off, the design is super comfy for long wear. They're smaller and lighter than the AirPods 3, with a refined shape that sits better in my ears without falling out during walks or light workouts. The open-ear style lets in some natural sound, which is great for awareness, but the IP54 rating means they're sweat- and splash-resistant enough for everyday use. The charging case is tiny—seriously, it slips into any pocket—and supports wireless charging plus a speaker for Find My pings if you misplace it. Controls are a squeeze on the stems for play/pause or switching modes, which is intuitive and glove-friendly, though I miss the volume swipe from the Pros.
Sound-wise, they're a step up from older AirPods. The H2 chip delivers clearer mids, punchier bass (for open buds, anyway), and Spatial Audio with head tracking that makes movies and music feel immersive. It's not audiophile-level, but for podcasts, pop, or calls, it's crisp and balanced—no more tinny vibes. Call quality is excellent too, with Voice Isolation making me sound natural even in windy spots.
Now the ANC—it's surprisingly effective for open-ear buds. It tamps down low rumbles like traffic or AC hums by a good 30-50%, and modes like Adaptive Audio blend it with Transparency seamlessly. Conversation Awareness is handy; it lowers volume when I start chatting and ramps it back up after. That said, it's not Pro-level—it won't fully block a screaming subway or jet engine, and some folks report ear pressure or headaches from it. Battery life is meh: about 4 hours with ANC on (5 off), up to 20-30 total with the case, which is shorter than I'd like for all-day use.
Overall, if you can't stand in-ear tips but want Apple magic like Siri nods and easy switching between devices, these are awesome—way better than nothing for noise control in an open design. But if you can swing the extra $50 for AirPods Pro 2 (often on sale), go for those; the seal makes everything superior. I'd give the AirPods 4 ANC an 8/10—great daily drivers, just not perfect.

Love them. Line the noise cancellation feature and when you speak how the volume adjust. Had no issue connecting to my phone or other devices. Fit feels good. They don’t bother from being in after a while. They do move some, but not hard to readjust. Sound quality is great. And the battery life is amazing. I use them at work and don’t have to constantly be recharging.

I recently upgraded to the Apple AirPod 4, and overall, I'm very impressed with the improvements Apple has made in this latest generation. The design remains sleek and minimalist, with a slightly more refined shape that fits comfortably in the ear. They're lightweight and secure, even during workouts or extended wear. Battery life is solid, with around 6 hours of listening time on a single charge and more than 24 hours with the charging case. The fast charging feature is handy if you're in a rush. The AirPod 4 are a strong step forward for Apple's wireless earbuds. They're not cheap, but if you're already in the Apple ecosystem and value sound quality, comfort, and intelligent features, they're definitely worth considering.

So I'm coming from the Airpod Pro 2's, decided to give these a try because I felt I never got a good fit in my ear with the silicone tips of the pro 2's. These are a complete game changer! Not only do these fit tighter than the pro's ever did, they are actually more comfortable due to the silicone "sealing" and causing pressure. Now, everyone wants to know how transparency and noise cancelation is. Transparency is identical to my pro 2's. Noise cancelation is 90% as good as my pro 2's. There are more reviews coming out weekly on these and they will all say the same, for an open back earpiece these do an outstanding job of getting almost the same sound signature of the pro 2's in every way. For me, no silicone tips, outstanding sounds and battery life, these crushed my pro 2's and I sold them.

The Apple AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation in white offer an exceptional audio experience with impressive sound quality, featuring crisp highs, balanced mids, and deep bass. The Active Noise Cancellation effectively blocks out external noise, making them ideal for work, travel, and daily use, while the transparency mode allows for awareness of surroundings when needed. Their seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem provides effortless switching between devices, and features like spatial audio enhance the listening experience. The lightweight and comfortable design ensures a secure fit for extended wear, and the battery life is excellent, offering around 6 hours of use with ANC enabled and additional charges from the case. However, the high price and touch-sensitive controls may take some getting used to. Overall, the AirPods 4 are a fantastic choice for Apple users seeking premium audio quality and convenience.

I’ve been using the AirPods Pro for a few weeks now, and I’m really impressed. The noise cancellation works very well, especially in noisy places like buses or coffee shops. The sound quality is clear with a good balance of bass and treble. They fit comfortably in my ears and stay in place even when I’m walking or working out. The battery life is also decent, and the charging case is small and easy to carry. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase

I LOVE it. I can listen to music nonstop. They are super comfortable, it feels secure while I'm moving. I love the noise cancellation, I can still hear a little bit but I'm satisfied. The battery and controls are my favorite no need to charge every time since they do last around 30 hrs with case

I am typically not a fan of earbuds as they feel uncomfortable and fall out. I used over-ear Bose headphones instead. But I tried these new Airpods 4 with noise cancellation and they fit so comfortably AND block noise as well as my Bose 700. I tested them both on a 4+ hour flight and the Airpods were better in all respects except battery life. This is the only downside, but was less of an issue than I expected because dropping them in the case for a few minutes charged them up quickly and they lasted long enough for the remainder of the trip. These really do feel like practically nothing in your ears and I don't feel like they will fall out. I like to lean my head against the wall of the plane or tilt my head to one side to sleep and these allow me to do so without shifting or adjusting as I had to do with the large headphones. Plus I can wear a hat on top of them. Bass response and overall audio quality are very good.

Okay, so I caved and got the new Apple AirPods 4—because my old ones were holding on for dear life and sounded like a tin can on Bluetooth.
Pros:
• The sound? Chef’s kiss. Seriously, it’s like Beyoncé moved into my ears.
• The new noise cancellation is actually pretty solid! Not “ignore my toddler screaming” solid, but “block out the Target crowd” solid.
• They’re comfy, don’t fall out when I’m cleaning, and pair faster than I can say “Hey Siri.”
• The case is smaller, sleeker, and looks like something a minimalist influencer would own.
Cons:
• The ANC doesn’t block everything—so don’t expect Pro-level silence.
• Battery life dips if you keep noise cancellation on.
• If you don’t have an iPhone, they lose half their magic tricks.
• And let’s be honest… they’re not exactly budget-friendly.
Overall, I’d give them 4.5 out of 5 stars. They sound amazing, make my life slightly more peaceful, and only occasionally remind me I overpaid for earbuds. Worth it.
