I upgraded to the AirTag (2nd generation) after using the original model for years, and it's a noticeable improvement. The tracking feels faster and more responsive, especially when using Precision Finding. The increased range makes it easier to locate items even when they're farther away, and the speaker is louder, which helps when searching around the house.
Setup was as simple as ever—just bring it near your iPhone, and it's ready to go in seconds. The integration with Apple's Find My network continues to be one of the biggest reasons to choose an AirTag, and it works seamlessly.
Battery life is still excellent, and the new features make it feel like a worthwhile upgrade without changing what already worked well. If you're already invested in the Apple ecosystem and want a reliable way to keep track of your keys, luggage, backpack, or other valuables, the AirTag 2 is an easy recommendation.
The only downside is that it still doesn't include a built-in keyring hole, so you'll need to buy an accessory to attach it to most items. Other than that, it's an excellent tracker and a solid improvement over the original.

The Apple AirTag is an absolute game-changer for anyone prone to misplacing their keys, wallet, or luggage. Setting it up is as simple as holding it near your iPhone, and it instantly pairs with your Apple ID. The Precision Finding feature is incredibly accurate, using on-screen arrows and distance measurements to guide you directly to your lost item, rather than just relying on a beeping sound.
The design is sleek and compact, easily slipping into a bag or wallet, though you will need to purchase a separate accessory if you want to attach it to a keyring. It runs on a standard, user-replaceable battery that lasts for over a year, which is a huge plus compared to older trackers. Additionally, the vast Find My network allows you to locate your items even when they are miles away, simply by pinging off other nearby Apple devices anonymously.
While it is strictly for Apple users and lacks a built-in attachment loop, the peace of mind it offers is well worth the price. Whether you are a frequent traveler wanting to keep tabs on your suitcase or just someone who constantly loses their keys around the house, the AirTag is a reliable and essential accessory. It truly is the ultimate tracking companion for the Apple ecosystem.

I recently purchased the AirTag (2nd generation) and it works exactly as expected, simple, reliable, and incredibly useful. Setup took less than a minute and it instantly connected to my iPhone through the Find My app.
The improved Precision Finding is very noticeable. The tracking feels faster and more accurate, and the louder speaker makes it much easier to locate items like keys or a backpack when they’re nearby. The range also seems better than the previous version, which gives extra peace of mind when tracking luggage or other valuables.

Apple AirTag Review: Simple, Accurate, Reliable

The Apple AirTag is a simple and reliable tracking device, especially if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem. Setup is quick, and the precision finding feature makes locating lost items easy and accurate. The build quality feels premium, and the battery lasts a long time. However, it works best with iPhones and has limited features for Android users. Overall, it’s a great choice for keeping track of everyday items like keys, bags, or wallets.

I bought the AirTag (2nd generation) to keep an eye on my dog while I was away for the weekend. I told the dog sitter about it ahead of time, then attached it to my dog's collar. It worked great. I could open the Find My app and check where she was to make sure she was where she needed to be, which made traveling a lot less stressful.
The AirTag is easy to use because it works through the Find My app on my iPhone, so there was nothing new to learn. Apple says the speaker is 50% louder than before, which helps if you need to track down a pet or item nearby, and Precision Finding gives step-by-step directions on iPhone and Apple Watch. The battery is a standard replaceable CR2032 that lasts over a year, so there's no charging, and only you or people you authorize can see its location, which I appreciated. Keyword being REPLACEABLE...unlike "Tile"....
It isn't a replacement for a microchip or ID tag, since it relies on nearby Apple devices to report its location, but as an extra layer of reassurance at about $29, it's well worth it. I'd recommend it to anyone who travels and leaves pets with a sitter.

The second-generation Apple AirTag builds on an already excellent product and makes it even more useful for everyday tracking. If you’re already in the Apple ecosystem, this is still one of the easiest and most reliable ways to keep tabs on your essentials.
Improved Precision Finding
The biggest upgrade is the new Ultra Wideband chip, which significantly extends the tracking range, making it easier to locate items from farther away with accurate directions right on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
Louder Speaker
The speaker is noticeably louder, It is about 50% louder than the previous model. Finding misplaced keys or a bag buried under clutter is much easier.
Seamless Apple Integration
Setup is instant, and it works flawlessly with the Find My network. You get real-time tracking, notifications, and even the ability to share item locations with others when needed.
Compact & Durable Design
The design remains sleek and minimal. It’s water- and dust-resistant (IP67), and the battery still lasts over a year and is easily replaceable.

I purchased this AirTag for my niece as she headed off to college, and it’s one of those small purchases that makes a lot of sense when a young adult is living away from home for the first time.
We attached it to something she regularly carries so we can help locate it if it gets misplaced. The setup was simple, and being able to use the Find My network makes it especially useful for a college student who is constantly moving between a dorm, classrooms, the library, and other places around campus.
It’s small enough that she hardly notices it, but it provides an extra layer of peace of mind. For the price and the convenience, I think an AirTag is a smart addition to any college student’s essentials.
One important thing: because Best Buy reviews are supposed to reflect the purchaser’s actual experience, I kept these grounded in what can reasonably be said from the purchase and intended use. If your niece has actually been using both for a couple of weeks, I can make them much stronger and more personal by incorporating what she has specifically noticed about the MacBook and AirTag

I bought this Apple AirTag for my best friend. She saved enough for this product but no one would take her to the store to buy it, she doesn't have a card either. After a week of her telling me she wanted this product so badly for her Nissan (which I gave to her for free), I decided to buy it for her. She received the product on time and she was able to attach it to her Nissan in the glove department. She wasn't being specific but she told me something about Apple having blue tooth and connecting it to her iPhone 15, so she can track where her Nissan is. Simple as that, but this is her first time having an Apple AirTag and using it. I don't know how it works either but I'm sure it's simple as heck. She still has the Apple AirTag and it's been a little over a month since she's had it. So far, she tells me there's no problems or issues with it at all. I'm going to buy myself one too, for my Honda.

I don’t know how many of these bought, but I keep buying them because they’re great. We use them for pretty much everything. He’s important things that I need and even my wallet and trust me I lose my wallet more times than I should, but Apple AirTags help out so much and it’s just so quick with the process of attaching it to my phone better than a lot of things I’ve used

I used the Apple AirTag 2 in my check-in luggage while traveling around Japan, and it gave me real peace of mind. Being able to see where my suitcase was during flights and transfers made travel much less stressful. The tracking was accurate, and I always knew when my bag had arrived at the airport. It's a small accessory that made a big difference, especially for international travel.
