I upgraded from my 2nd generation iPad. One too many updates for the old iPad. The iPad Air 2 is fluid and fast. Much thinner and lighter than previous models.

As a former owner /user of Apple's iPad 2 (A5 Arm Processor), this upgrade is worth it for a number of reasons including
1) the new A8 processor is noticeably faster, especially on video and graphics intensive streaming websites (ie: CNBC App)
2) noticeably lighter and thinner in your hands (buy a protective Smart Cover / case (ie: from eBay, etc)
3) supports Siri (note: Apple did not support Siri on iPad2.. Probably to motivate people, like me, to upgrade ;-)
4) bonus: IOS 8.1.2 on an iPhone + iPad supports integrated SMS texting. As long as your iPad is on the same wifi network, your iPad can send and receive SMS text messages (using your iPhone also on iOS 8.1.2). Additionally, your iPad can send and receive phone calls, again, provided you have enabled this feature on your iPhone with iOS 8.1.2 and both are on the same wifi network (ie: in your home or office).
5) new finger print sensor, capable of supporting up to 5 different finger prints (ie: from the same or multiple people) is a secure time saver, especially useful when unlocking your iPad Air 2 or purchasing an app from Apple's AppStore.
6) don't even think about getting the 16GB version. Minimum usable size = 64GB
7) new 802.11ac wifi support (not available on other iPad models) enables much faster download bandwidth. Based on Comcast / Xfinity Boost wifi service + 802.11ac enabled router, I get download speeds in excess of 125Mbps and upload speeds in excess of 15Mbps supporting smooth video streaming especially when you have a household of streaming devices.
Recommendation: although iOS 8.1.2 can be jailbroken, I have found it is not a good idea for a couple of reasons including
1) jailbraking the iOS often disables certain Apps (ie: streaming apps in particular, like TiVo and CNBC) from operating correctly.
2) jailbraking undermines the security that Apple has incorporated into the iOS. With such things as one-touch finger print security, iPad unlock and Apple Pay now supported, why would you want to undermine security by installing software that hasn't been verified by Apple on your brand new iPad Air 2?

I got a good trade in from Best Buy on my gen 3 and upgraded to the latest and greatest - better, faster, smaller, lighter. The most impressive thing so far was how fast and easy it was to recover all my settings, data, apps, etc. during the setup. Everything went flawlessly. All my old apps were even placed in the exact same locations.

I replaced my first edition iPad 2, and what a difference! Although the screen is smaller, it is thinner and much lighter. As I get familiar with all the things I can do with this new iPad Air2, it will be even better. I have no regrets buying another Apple product.

I've been slogging along with my older iPad 2 for several years now. Best Buy had a sale on the Air 2, so I decided to make the jump and upgrade.
If you have any pre-air iPad, the thinness and lightness alone is worth the upgrade. It's just so much easier to hold now, and there's far less fatigue when holding it with one hand. My iPad 2, feels like a thick, heavy brick by comparison.
The retina screen is gorgeous, and for the Air 2, Apple has added an anti-glare coating on the screen that helps quite a bit when using the device outdoors.
The Air 2 is blazing fast too. Apps load lightning quick. Everything is super responsive. Being so fast helps to future proof the device. I should be able to get 4 or maybe even 5 years out of it before needing to upgrade again.

I have had an iPhone the past 3 yrs but this is my first iPad. I figured I would like it, but I LOVE it. It is so quick and easy to grab and check email, look up something on the web, take pics (great quality), plan geocache adventures, and play games. Tried using a cover with a keyboard but it really takes away from the simplicity of the whole idea, so I returned it for a simple cover with a strap to keep it closed. It's been over a month and I now only use my laptop when I am using word or excel, because the full size keyboard is just much faster to speed type and calculate. The battery life is great and overall, it's a sleek, fast operating device for use on and off the web!

I purchased the iPad Air 2 as a Christmas present for my wife (she had wanted one for quite a while). But, I had my reservations after her Macbook Air (13", 2011 model) failed just under two-years, and she really doesn't utilize the OS X features to the fullest. Plus, I personally prefer Android and we both primarily use Windows. However, I recognized that the iPad Air 2 is a superior product based on reviews and personally experience (in-law's older model iPad 2). One benefit is that it syncs seamlessly with my wife's iPhone, and, in terms of the user interface, it's essentially the same. The user interface is friendly, simple to use, and easy to navigate. Already, it has replaced her ultrabook for general web-surfing and basic productivity apps. Along with it, I purchased an inexpensive $15 smart case (hard case, soft cover) which fits "like a glove" - so, no issue with 3rd party accessory. Together, they feel extremely rigid and durable, and feel very comfortable in the hands. It's notably lighter and smaller compared to the iPad 2, and feels more compact and portable. The Retina display is incredible; this is our first device of that caliber resolution and there's no turning back now. The battery life is excellent and provides over 10 hours of light use (no games or media). I did test the video capability and briefly played a movie, and the performance was excellent (no lag or delays). The App store and Itunes Store are also great. The only concern I have is the inability to upgrade storage (which is common with Apple products), but we get by with 3rd party cloud storage for general data (music, pictures, documents, etc.). In summary, we decided to stay within the Apple family for my wife (I'm still Windows/Android) for compatbility/seamlessly user integration, and also for the superior aspects of the product as mentioned. I can't compare with other similar products, but the iPad Air 2 meets or exceeds our expectations for our needs including portability, long battery life, solid construction, 3rd party accessory compatibility, and performance.

I was looking to replace my outdated Ipad 2 and was waiting for the right time. When I saw that Best Buy had Apple products on sale for $100.00 off, I knew the time was right. I was able to upgrade to 64GB and am very happy with the purchase. The Ipad Air is much lighter than the Ipad 2 that I had before and the camera is also much better. Even the color on the display seems more vivid. If you like Apple products, you will not be disappointed.

First and foremost, I want to say I am not an "Apple person" who buys something just because it features a shiny Apple logo. But I needed an iPad to run the application that remotely connects to the sound board at my church. It does that and does it very well, as I am able to adjust sound levels from anywhere in our sanctuary via this device.
Beyond that, however, I have been impressed with the functionality, fluidity, and versatility of the Air 2. I use it to store my entire music library (64GB model). I clip this to a mic stand in lieu of a music stand and paper chord charts. When I am teaching from scripture, this iPad is both my outline and my Bible. The screen is large enough to browse the internet comfortably. I store memos and notes, organize my calendar, and the best part is - I can have 10 or 20 apps open at the same time, and there's really no loss of functionality.
Lastly, the screen is bright, vivid, and beautiful. Videos are crisp, clear, and smooth. The Retina display comes as advertised. The price tag is high, as I have come to expect from Apple, but the versatility it offers makes it my go-to for nearly every technical application of what I do. Highly, highly recommended!

My wife cracked the screen on her iPad 3 and we had to replace it before it got worse so we opted for the this and man is it really nice! I am not an Apple fan but the design of this tablet is really well done. It is lighter and thinner than the previous version and my wife says it is even more responsive than the iPad 3!

If you search my user name, you'll see that this is the 5th review I've posted for an iPad. The AIR 2 is simply the best. Fast, light, flexible, easy to use.. blah, blah,blah... you've heard it all before. Every platitude is true. This is nearly the perfect tablet. Yes, cost is a little high (though I got mine on sale) and you cannot upgrade the storage.. blah, blah,blah... you've heard it all before. I have 4 iPads and 2 android tablets... the Air 2 blows away the Nexus 10 in every way.... highly recommended

I bought the Ipad Air for my autistic son. I had given him my old Ipad with limited memory. He enjoys playing games so we decided to upgrade him early for his birthday. I love that the Ipad Air is smaller and lighter but the screen is the same size. I like that it's small enough to fit in my purse so it can go with us (we also got the case for protection). My son is very happy and enjoying the game play. Since it has tons of memory, his gaming is working fine (previous Ipad ran out of memory, only 16gb so his games wouldn't work properly). Happy kid, happy mom!

Went to Best Buy on the promotion guaranteeing at least a $200 total credit towards a new iPad Air 2 if you brought in a working iPad 2 or later. I have an iPad 3 that I enjoyed but, due to some wrist issues, had trouble holding for long periods of time. I thought the new Air 2 might fit the bill.
I loved the weight and thinness and after checking, BB was going to give me $235 ttl credit (a 185 trade and a 50 coupon). I decided to pull the trigger and couldn't be happier. Associate recommended a new ballistic glass screen protector and I will never use the plastic ones again....the screen is so smooth and easy to navigate compared to the one I had on my iPad 3!
This new Air 2 is so much faster and smoother than the older 3. Screen seems sharper and easier to read outside in bright sunlight. Touch response is a joy. I wasn't sure I'd care about the Touch ID, BUT I LOVE IT! Haven't tried the new camera, since I'm not an iPad photo taker; however my wife ones FaceTime with her family and we tested the new front facing camera and you can definitely tell the difference. Also, I am very happy with the new, lower weight. My wrist can handle this new Air 2 without tiring out, like it did with my older 3 model.
In conclusion, an even better purchase than I thought it would be and an iPad that should serve me well for many years. If you have an iPad Air, not sure an upgrade is warranted....but if you own a version 1-4 and love your iPad, buying the Air 2 is a no brainier, I'd just spring for at least the 64gb model and ignore the 16gb, which is just not enough storage for this fast, light tablet.
