An awesome tablet worth purchasing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my iPad this past week and I'm very pleased with the purchase. The typing in email and word (pages app) documents couldn't be any easier. This tablet couldn't be simpler and has tremendous potential. Multitasking will be out in the fall and that update will make this product 500% efficient. Another great product by Apple!

Things you should know
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ATT gets a bad wrap from tech writers who live in NY and San Fran. But here in Detroit 3G is solid and fast. The "pay as you go" data iPad plan is great, no 2 year commitment. You can pay for one month, cancel, use that month and then decide if WiFi only works for you. If not pay for another month and cancel, and on and on. You may find there are times you don't need 3G and can save money those times. You should know unlike the WiFi only iPad, the 3G models have "true" GPS and a compass like the iPhone 3Gs, very accurate when using maps and navigation apps. Apps are gold, from Free to $10.00 lots of apps that do plenty of useful and fun things. As an artist I use several drawing and painting apps, The iPad has become my iSketchPad. Love the Distant Suns app that shows the location of stars and planets on the big screen. Weather Channel with it's Radar map and local forecasts. If you have Netflix you can use an app to watch your instant clue on the iPad. Free NPR app. An app for every need.

iPad???
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never thought I'd buy a pricey toy like this, but, this is the best thing I've every purchased. I'm a performing musicians and I found an app to load my sheet music for use during live performances. No more music stand, no more flipping pages in a binder. The iPad attaches directly to my mic stand and is barley noticeable and the backlit screen makes it easy to read the music sheets on a dimly lighted stage. During breaks I play my mp3 music files on the iPad through the PA system. Rock on good people and get yourself this thing.

Seems like the model everyone wants.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a birthday present/fathers day present 3 weeks early. These things are in very high demand, I was in PA when I decided to break down and get one. Called PA, NJ apple and best buy locations and no dice. There are 6 different models which range from 499.99 to 829.99 and they are no where to be found. Driving home to SC I called my local store and was told they had a few in stock. I bought it over the phone and raced to SC to get my new paddy! I brought it home activated it and fell in love. The tech is amazing and just works.....well sorta. I was fine for 2 weeks then wifi signal started to go from full strength to weak. I turned up the brightness which helped boost the antenna but it would still lose one line sometimes, so I moved my dsl closer to where I normally sit and boom no problems at all anymore. Overall I love this thing and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

An anti-productivity tool and Mac training ground
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like the iPad but it has too many limitations to truly be of use. If one wants a mobile photo, movie and Weather Channel viewer, it does a great job. It has other multimedia limitations, however, and doesn't work for work or schoolwork. The iPad doesn't support Flash or Real Player (for me that is part of work). Many hoped that the IPhone would eventually add Flash support, but never did, so there is no reason to believe the Pad ever will. There is a workaround using a rather expensive paid app that requires remote access to one's PC, but it's a hassle and very slow. There are paid apps to view Powerpoint and Excel files but it will not export to those programs. One can create Keynote and Numbers files, but that is not of use to the majority of people and workers who live in a Windows world. It's enough to make one consider switching to Apple. The Word equivalent appears to export to that program but I have not tried it. That program receives much better reviews than the other two. For me, it's inability to play educational Elluminate sessions is a severe limitation, although it does support some Blackboard functions. It is actually easier to read discussion board posts on the iPad than on the PC but the on-screen keyboard makes responding difficult Since one can't do work and it seems like it should be more than a toy with a $500-800 price tag, it is tempting to do things one does not normally. I found myself watching Netflix movies and youtube videos, as well as checking news apps (all free, at least) that normally escape my attention. Many reviewers complain that unlike the computer version, standard Hulu is not free (it doesn't support Flash so it won't work through normal means). It is available through some other method for $10/mo. There are free apps to watch CBS and ABC programs. In order to support all those apps, the desktop is cluttered and quickly requires multiple screens to hold them all, which then requires searching for the desired one. Programs won't run in the background so things like Pandora are pretty much useless. One can't have more than one app open. It required about $30 in purchased apps (and that's without buying ones that would eventually be necessary) to discover that the iPad won't serve my needs. It is reported that one can "jailbreak" the iPad to add some functionality but it appears to be complicated and I am not willing to void my warranty. The iPad is sleek and hip. It does what it does extremely well. Even with spending additional money on all the apps, there are too many things it doesn't do. It's going back. The new Android tablets due to come to market in the next month will support more PC programs but have fewer custom designed ones. It is likely they will do more work but less play. One of those will get a test drive, too.

Slick and functional
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic cross between a laptop and smartphone in a great lightweight size. Was a bit worried about the keyboard but find it very simple to use once you get used to it. Transferring files from MacBook to Ipad or from Iphone very easy, great apps so far with more coming on board every day. High quality unit, looks great and will be taking this rather than a laptop on business trips. Accessories a tad bit pricey - the dock work far better than I thought it would but the Apple case is highly overpriced and inferior. Much better alternatives available online the than Apple. Definitely get the 3G if you work out in the field, overall I rate this big winner

Flashy but my windows phone could do more
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a wonderful yet useless device. It is fast, great graphics but I could not transfer files without a PC or Mac. That makes is a useless device when traveling. Cannot save attachments nor send any. These are rudementary functions I had with my Jornada 720 windows ce 2.0 device. My Android does it better and the ipad simply cannot. Unless you have access to your pc, don't bother. Apple dropped the ball on this one.

Great Product--The future of computing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my doubts but I went and bought one. It's great and I appreciate the simple, easy-to-learn user interface. I purchased the Apple wireless, bluetooth keyboard and the Apple soft case.

Amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love our iPad! It is a necessity we didn't even know we needed until we bought it. We originally bought it for me for school to take notes - as other college age students can testify, lugging around a heavy laptop is just too much. The iPad made note taking much easier. We also use it daily for entertainment such as Netflix or facebook. It's a great reference tool for on the spot debates. We love it! We use it everyday for everything.

I Really Like My iPad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the iPad, BUT imho it is over priced. In all reality it is just a larger iPod Touch, that being said I like my iPad, I just don't think I will be updating to the new version at least not for 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 years, maybe the price will come down by then.

My switch from the Ipad wifi to the Ipad wifi + 3g
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I switched from the wifi model Ipad to the 3g+wifi model, so that I would have the option of having connectivity at all times if I needed it. My wifi model worked beautifully, no problems at all, however, my 3g + wifi seems to get hung up when retrieving mail and even surfing the net. Is anyone else having these issues? I have not signed up for the AT&T service yet, I was just using the wifi in my home. I'm wondering if its just my ipad or if this is an issue with this model. Love the wifi ipad, not so sure about the 3g model.

Great device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device, that I find constantly gets better with each app I download for specific needs. To have power & access in the push of a button to check new email, view documents, and web-surfing for information is OUTSTANDING!!!!

Just Wonderful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the most wonderful "big kid toy" I have ever purchased. This is hours of pleasure, from checking mail, going on Ebay, playing checkers, and solitaire and on and on and on. Movies look great,as do pictures. This is well worth the investment, that will last forever. The only thing that would put icing on the cake, would be a camera like the iPhone has, for chat.

I love this!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not usually one to run out and get the latest and greatest. But the ipad lives up to the hype. Especially by combining it with the Zaggmate Cover with Wireless Keyboard, I have the perfect tablet computer! I love it!

Happy with model in the middle
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I got an iPad for Christmas, I thought it was all hype until I got a chance to sit down and use it. I have the Classic iPod for music and a laptop for other things. The iPad is lite and can go anywhere.
