My "recent calls" screen was frozen for 2 weeks. Other screens periodically freeze as well. Also need a small card with user tips for easy access

My previous phone was an iPhone 4. I spent a week with an iPhone 5 before upgrading to the 5s. First off, iOS 7, which runs on any of the aforementioned phones, is a dream. It ran smoothly on the 5, and the integration of Siri with maps and texting and the addition of iTunes Radio was a breath of fresh air. I spend over an hour in my car every day, and I now have a personal assistant to take notes, send and read texts, and make my time on the road productive while allowing me to keep my eyes on the road. Siri, however, will ask for a pass code to access certain things like maps and emails from the lock screen, and it's distracting to have to enter the code while driving. So, I decided to upgrade to the 5s with the finger ID sensor. The sensor works great, and makes accessing my phone while driving as easy as turning on the radio while keeping my phone and information secure. The processor in this phone is fast! Having spent half a week with iOS 7 on the 5, I can really appreciate how much faster and capable this phone is at everything from rendering the textured graphics of iOS 7, to launching apps, to taking dictation. While I haven't fully explored all the features of the camera, I have taken a couple of night shots with the dual flash, and the color balance is pretty good. It's too early to truly assess the functionality of the M7 coprocessor, and it will be interesting to see if developers and manufacturers make great use of it, or if it becomes a footnote in the history of the iPhone. The only performance issue I've had with the phone so far comes with using Keynote. While testing some slides and running some animations, the phone's screen suddenly turns blue, and the phone reboots itself. I'm sure there will probably be an update to both the OS and the app soon that will fix this. All things considered, for a new phone and new OS, it works amazingly well. It has the fastest mobile processor Apple has released to date, and is a considerable upgrade from any previous iPhone, including the 5. Aesthetically, I prefer the 5's black to the "space gray" of the 5s, but the back shouldn't scratch as easily as the 5. I personally feel that the design of the 4 has been the most beautiful so far, but a smartphone is first and foremost a device for information and communication, and I, like most, usually keep it well protected within its case.

Good Enough ... Though Suffering from Size Envy

My iPhone 4Ss' battery had begun to lose its ability to hold a charge. My two year contract was up. And so it was time to begin a search for a new phone.
I had been coveting the Samsung Galaxy S4 for sometime, with its larger screen. And I was ready to leave the iPhone behind, because of Apple's maddening tendency to force you to do things their way or no way at all. I experimented with the Galaxy S4, but it had enough deficiencies (inability to sync more than one Outlook Calendar and texting incompatibilities with iPhones) to make me upgrade my iPhone 4s to the iPhone 5s. And I haven't looked back.
The ecosystem provided by Apple -- especially its unmatched library of Apps -- and the iPhone 5s' compatibility with both other Apple Products and with every conceivable business system out there made it a no-brainer, even though I still have size envy whenever I see someone whip out their larger phones.
I have four complaints about my AT&T iPhone 5s. First, the screen is cartoonishly small compared to some of the other products out there right now. Rumor has it that Apple will be introducing a new, larger version sometime before the end of the year. But if size is VERY important to you, the iPhone right now is not the right way to go. Second, the iPhone is extraordinarily fragile. Fortunately, I bought AppleCare with mine, and so I was able to get a replacement (for $79) after dropping and breaking mine, even though it was in a case, just a couple months after purchasing it. If you are accident prone, absent minded, or prone to multitasking while using your phone like me, beware that the screen on this thing will break in an instant if dropped. Get a good case and buy AppleCare. Third, the "keyboard" on the iPhone is maddeningly inefficient. I rarely have been able to type a message longer than a simple sentence without having to go back and correct what I am typing over and over again. And fourth, people I am talking to over the phone often tell me that it is difficult to understand what I am saying.
If you are wedded to the Apple Ecosystem and your phone is still operating, I would strongly advise waiting a few months to see what form factor the iPhone 6 is going to take before purchasing the iPhone 5s.

My 5s seems to respond to phantom touches, jumps, reverts to random screens, scrolls the opposite direction of my touch, types random letters and words when I've touched one letter...extremely frustrating!!

Quite the upgrade from the iPhone 4

This is my second iPhone. I held off as long as I could with my old iPhone 4. If you are an Apple product purest like myself, then this product is a vast improvement over ever single feature that was on my older model. I am in the military and got tired of carrying a second phone (blackberry). I use this device just as much for work as I do personal use. I love the improvements/upgrades to the camera/video. Generating a wifi hotspot is always a bonus. The most difficult aspect of this phone, or any smartphone, is trying to find ways to reduce battery drain. Lastly, I use this phone as my cycling computer. I use the QuadLock case and have it paired with the Wahoo Fitness Bluetooth Speed and Cadence Sensor.

Currently, the best upgrade from my old iPhone 4. Faster, better camera/video, etc. Battery life seems shorter though. I would recommend getting a case w/ built-in battery like mophie juice pack plus and changing the settings to improve battery life.

I loved my iPhone 5. Upgraded to the 5S and love everything about it. Battery life is the best apple has had ever. Wish I would have got the gold one but the space grey is pretty nice.

I purchased this because I needed one calendar to work with all my schedules with five girls. I thought it would be great and all I can say is that the Galaxy S3 was a hit compared to this 64gb iPhone 5s. Reason I say this is because the new Maverick removed manual syncing for the contacts and calendars. They are requiring everything to be iCloud which I don't think is wise. Reason is that my email was severely compromised recently and I was wiped out all my contacts and emails. Since I do manual syncing to my computer it saved me the hassle to relocate all 4,000+ contacts. Mind you the email I had for 15+ years so it can happen in the future with any cloud service. The phone pictures is hard to get use to since the Samsung has a larger view. Yes it has abilities for the Apple TV and Music but overall for the price Samsung Wins hands down. Now Apple needs to make some catchup improvements for manual syncing to come back, larger screen and other small details.
