Great Phone, But Is It Worth The Hefty Price Tag?

PROS: -Blazing fast -Gorgeous OLED display -12MP dual-lens rear Camera, 7MP front camera -Face ID works pretty well CONS: -You'll have to take out a second mortgage to afford it -Some apps are still buggy, don't take advantage of full screen -It's a new style of phone, so the learning curve might be high for some JURY'S STILL OUT ON: -Battery life -Security -Durability I've had this phone for a little more than 24 hours now, and my initial thoughts are "wow". This phone is amazing! It's a beautiful phone to look at, what about the new features? How's not having a home button, for instance? Truth is, I'm starting to like it even more. Swiping feels more natural on this phone than clicking a button, and pulling out your phone to check a notification, and it automatically recognizes you and unlocks is really nice. I'd say it's quicker than having a fingerprint reader, but is it more secure? Apple says it is (1-50,000 chance of some random person getting into your phone with bio-metric scanner, to 1-1,000,000 with FaceID), but time will tell. It works as advertised. It even works in the dark. It does have difficulty on a flat surface, but for me, it's not a big deal. The display is AMAZING. Perfect blacks, without color over-saturation. It is very pleasing to look at. What about the battery life? It's hard to say. I have been able to get through an entire day's use with it, but since I have only had it for 24 hours, I can't tell you about long term. Apple says 21 hours of talk time, and 13 hours of internet time, and so far, I've had no reason to doubt that. Which goes into my next topic: durability. Will it last for a long time? At $1,000 it better be good quality, and being an Apple product, that's a safe assumption. The phone looks very well-built. Premium components went into this phone, and you can tell. It's water-resistant up to 3 feet, dust, scratch, and fingerprint resistant, as well. I've not tested it in water (and have no plans to), but from the surface, this phone is very solidly built. I'd still recommend getting a good case and screen protector, though (as I would with any new phone). Is it worth the extra money? Yes and no. It's a unique, but also a better experience than past iPhones, but if you really like Apple's style they've had since iPhone 6, and dead-set on keeping that style, you might not like the new one. Much of the hardware is similar in the X as it is in the 8+. The main selling points and differences on this phone is the OLED display, which, in my opinion, is the best on any phone, EVER, the rear dual-lens camera with optical image stabilization on both lenses (only one OIS on one lens on the 8+), and FaceID. If you don't need the extra goodies, then you'll be happy with the iPhone 8+, or at the minimum, the iPhone 8. But, if you're willing to drop the money for this phone, and you're ready for a new experience, I'd say you won't be disappointed. Great phone!

    Excellent Phone, Worthy Upgrade

Moving from an iPhone 7 Plus, I was skeptical that this phone would have enough upgrades to make me want to keep it. I use my phone for more work than play, and I need something that can keep up with my demanding schedule and productivity apps. For that reason, my last phone was a 7 Plus. The plus, for me, had a great screen size, battery life, camera and offered great storage and speed. It was, however, a bit chunky, but not enough for me to complain about. While the iPhone X has a "5.8 inch" screen, it is slightly more slender and has less actual area than the plus, and doesn't have a 16x9 aspect ratio either. Despite these differences in screen dimensions, I couldn't be more pleased with the device. I love the size, and every time I pick the phone up I am reminded of what a premium device it is by its reassuring weight and perfect size. The screen quality and brightness is absolutely phenomenal, with punchy yet realistic colors and amazing contrast. In fact, the screen is so good that it looks as if it was actually printed on the glass. I have the larger screen combined with a pocketability and size that better suit my hands than my previous 7 Plus. The processor is no slouch, either. It destroys heavy multitasking and intensive apps with aplomb, but does become warm with cpu-heavy apps. Battery life has been slightly shorter than a 7 Plus, but that's no issue as this phone now supports rapid charging if you are willing to spend the extra $79 on a new adaptor and usb-c to lightning cable. It goes without saying that I was skeptical about the practicality and the accuracy of Face ID. It works exceptionally well. In fact, I find it to be more reliable and in many cases faster than Touch ID, which this replaces. However, being a twin, I wasn't surprised when my phone would unlock after scanning my twin's face. That was not a deal breaker for me and should not be as controversial as it is; if you are worried about your twin compromising your security than you should definitely look at what is wrong with your family relationships before criticizing your phone. I love Apple's cases and would highly recommend picking up a Leather Case to protect your investment. If you go all out, this will set you back a very pretty penny, but you shouldn't be surprised. Rivaling devices, like the Note 8, will be close to the same price point. You are really paying to be at the forefront of technology here, and I definitely don't regret taking the leap of faith into the iPhone X.

Have spent a few days with the device. It is definitely pricey, but from the user experience point of view, I am pretty happy with the device so far. Here are a few things: 1, The Face ID works well 99% of the time. Pretty responsive, too. For those with glasses I would suggest capture the FaceID with glasses off. 2, I like its front camera portrait mode. Could take much better selfies. The stage lighting portrait effect could use some improvement, though. The rear camera works better than the 8plus/7plus in low light situations, and generally provides greater contrast and details. 3, The size is just right. I feel the 8plus is too big, but this one is just about right. I do prefer the size if used without a case, but there's no way I am doing that. The phone has a sleek look and nice finish. Stainless steel frame gives it some extra shine. 4, It definitely needs a case to protect its fragile glass back. 5, the wireless charging is a plus. But it charges rather slowly, since I mostly use the iPad USB charger. 6, the OLED screen is gorgeous. Better images all together. Apple says it helps save battery life. I will see about that. Verdict: if you are on the fence between 8Plus/8 and X and have the extra budget to spare, go with the X.

I am not going to get into all of the specs, features, etc like other reviewers. I'm sure if you're looking at the iPhone X, you have at least a general idea of those things. Instead I will just discuss the main issues I have with the iPhone X. I have had mine for about a week and upgraded from an iPhone 7 Plus. When I picked up the X in the store, I was excited and couldn't wait to get my new toy home to play with it. Immediately after unboxing it and putting it next to my 7+, I was disappointed to find out that while the working space on the screen is larger, the phone is actually smaller. Smaller, like the size of the iPhone 7. I must have missed that when Apple unveiled it and the numerous blogs that I've read. I have had the larger iPhone since the 6+ and have gotten accustomed to it and really have no interest in going back to something smaller. This would be the perfect phone if it were the same size as my 7+. I love the Face ID and have had no problems with it unlocking my phone. The cameras are great. There is a bit of a learning curve with the gestures, but all in all it works great once you get used to it. Animoji's are fun, but not a must for me. Setup is easy when upgrading from another iPhone. You literally use the camera to transfer passwords and data and then you download your apps either from iCloud or iTunes. Overall, this is a great phone, but if size matters (phone size that is), you might want to consider the 8+ unless you have a 7+ in which case, I wouldn't upgrade.

This is the best phone I have ever owned! I just switched from Android to iPhone. One thing that kept me from switching is that I never did like iPhone's physical home button. The iPhone X changed that. Honestly, I purchased this phone for the high quality camera. I sold a bunch of pro camera gear to buy it. Not only is the camera amazing, with a lot of features I've never even knew existed, the phone just plain & simply operates so smoothly. Pros: amazing camera, fluid like operation, everything just makes sense, phone is fast, screen auto adjusts to lighting conditions, dual speakers, phone call quality is fantastic, the colors are amazing, I liked how in case of emergency, help can access your medical conditions and blood type without breaking into the phone, apps operate smoothly, it's pocket-able, the screen size is perfect (not too small or too big), some apps have more built-in features on iPhone than Android, Cons: The only thing that I can think of at all is the price but then again, this is like carrying around a mini mac book pro in your pocket. If you're ever in the San Marcos TX area, go see Wesley on the weekends. He is their Apple expert. I don't think there is anything that he doesn't know. I went to him 2 weekends in a row asking him questions before pulling the trigger. It's one of the best purchases I have ever made and I'm an extremely frugal guy. I can honestly say that I feel good about the purchase. And for anyone interested in knowing this, because I wasn't sure of it myself, I purchased this iPhone unlocked and took it to my cell phone carrier Metro-PCS and it works amazing! My friend has an iPhone on Sprint and we've done tests side by side and mine beats his every time.

This is my third iPhone. First before I review this ... my 6 had a battery that wouldn't hold a charge. The Geek Squad guy noticed there was a tiny chip in the screen. He told me he couldn't put a battery in and it would have to go to Apple to get fixed, where they'd pull the screen up and more than likely break the screen ... Apple would want to fix both the screen and the battery, so it would've cost me about $150, he told me to put that to a new phone instead. I really wanted the X, so I got it. Note that you can do a downpayment and cut your monthly bill. I put $200 down and I got the 24 months (with a new phone each year) for $31 and change. The phone is lighter than my 6, some because I had a charger case. I love the size of the screen and the colors are beautiful. There is a lot of relearning to do because you don't have the home button anymore. I figured out the screen shot, WIthout the home button, to hard close, you swipe up. To get the things you used to swipe up, you swipe the top right corner down. This is probably the most important one to learn because the batter doesn't show the percent anymore... you have to do the swipe down the right top corner to see it. I do like that the time is constantly in view, even though I lost the battery percent. The battery seems to be much better than my 6's when it was new. I got 2 hours playing Pokemon app and that guzzle battery life and another 6 hours just sitting on the table. I got 5 hours sitting in a coat pocket left on Pokemon. Haven't tried just running regular apps to see how many hours I'd get, but I suspect a full day. I can't tell you how fast it'll charge back up with the given charger, because I'll only use Anker cables and quick charger. WIth these I can charge it up from 0% to 100% in a little over an hour. I haven't tried the wireless charger yet, don't have it, but like the idea.

    The Best iPhone ever made

The iPhone X released by Apple on November 3rd, 2017 is worth every dollar you spend on paying for it. The X in the “iPhone X” symbolizes it being the 10th anniversary of the iPhone being produced by Apple. This phone is for users that enjoy new technology and innovation in a phone. The features in the iPhone X are like no other and makes you think about how Apple will top this phone. The durability of the iPhone X is fairly good. The X now has glass on both the front and the back of the phone which makes it easier for you to scratch up. I would suggest any buyer to purchase a screen protector and a case to help protect from dropping the iPhone X. You don’t have to worry about your iPhone X dying during the day because the battery life on this phone lasts throughout the whole day which previous iPhone users have had a problem with. Apple also made the iPhone X dust and water resistant as well. I tested this by sitting my phone in a bowl of water and it passed the test, my phone still works perfectly fine. You should also know that the speed and accessibility of the iPhone X is incredible as well. Key Features of the iPhone X Apple went a different route by taking away the home button and adding the slide up feature which now gives you the whole 5.65 by 2.79 inches of screen to utilize on your phone. This new feature may take a couple of days for previous iPhone users to get used to, but it is a good call by Apple. The iPhone X is also able to charge wirelessly with the wireless charger instead of plugging it in. The iPhone X’s new face recognition is another feature that is new to iPhone. It allows you to unlock your phone by just looking at it, which makes it easier than putting a passcode in. You can also use face recognition for animoji. Animoji combines emojis and face recognition to make short videos you can send to friends. Apple features a 12 MP (megapixel) camera on the rear of the phone which takes amazing photos with different modes such as; portrait, square, and panoramic. The iPhone X’s beautiful glass design and key features make this phone standout from competition. This phone is easy to work, and it is worth every penny.

Was a Samsung guy since the Galaxy s4, bough a Note 8 when it launched. I found myself tired of constant apps quitting, slow speed, and other miscellaneous errors. Decided to grab an iPhone X and I can go on and on about how impressed I am, the new iPhone X and the operating system blows Android and Samsung so far out of the water, that I decided to purchase a MacBook Pro (currently trying to sell my Lenovo Y700), personally i like my MacBook just as much as my Lenovo running Windows 10 Pro but because of how impressed I am with my three week old iPhone X I purchased an Apple Watch Series 3... wayyy better than my Samsung Gear but at a slightly high price. Pros: Smooth, Stylish, Fast, Reliable, Efficient, Jaw-Dropping Camera, works perfectly with my MacBook Pro and Apple Watch Cons: I wish they made a "Plus" version, I am a fan of the Note 8s huge screen, and although the X has less pixel density it has a much higher contrast and color which provides a better picture... would complain about the price but my Note 8 costed the same (Note 8 is overpriced)

A step forward in the Apple revolution

Apple has done really well coming out with two new phones at the same time. Starting off with the most eye-catching feature which is the 5.8-inch all screen iPhone without a home button. The screen is a super retina hd display. Brightness is certainly no issue. The screen has a fingerprint resistant coating which will protect the screen for a while if no screen protector is put on top. For the outside of the X it has a very sleek and quiet design. When you look at it you do not see any buttons sticking out and everything looks like it fits and nothing looks like it is not supposed to be there. Apple also helping with the occurring problem phones plus water. Making the X water, splash, and dust resistant. The X itself ways 6.14 ounces (174 grams) which is considerably light compared to how much power it contains. It contains a A11 bionic chip and runs on ios 11 for its operating system. That gives it the power it needs for you to be able to do just about anything you want on it. One of the major points is the camera. 12MP wide-angle and telephoto cameras with functions like face detection, portrait mode, portrait lighting, and for those that like to video. You are able to film in 4k resolution at 60fps all the way down to 24fps. As for the front camera, which also helps with one of the most notable features about the X and that is the faceID which allows you to unlock your iPhone X instead of using your fingerprint. The IPhoneX is a next step in our smart phone journey in this generation and will lead to many more great innovations.

I couldn't decide between the 8+ or the X but chose the X since it was closer in size to the iPhone 6s I was upgrading from and I'm honestly not that impressed. Yes, the camera is great on it, but honestly that's about the only good feature this has to offer. I really don't like having Face ID and I wish I could go back to using the thumbprint. Face ID barely works half the time, I've added my face to it under multiple lightings so it would. The first week I had it it froze for a solid 15min. It has cool features and all but it's really not all it's hyped up to be. I thought I was the only one who thought this because I've been on the fence about returning it or not, but what other options are there really? Several people I know who have also recently upgraded aren't that impressed with it either. Be prepared to google how to do most things on it when you first get it because apple made it way more confusing than it needs to be. My main complaint about the phone really is the face ID, other than that, it's a phone, it works, it's just not that great. If you want a phone similar in size to a 6 though, this is the way to go instead of the 8+ unfortunately.

I decided to get this phone because of the screen size. I am starting to get a little older so a larger screen is easier to read. I previously had an iPhone 6S. I could bring myself to get a plus because the phone itself was too big. This phone is a good size and the screen is great. I do think if you haven't learned to use reachability on an iPhone you need to research it. It is so helpful and surprised on this phone it is off by default. So no home button after all these years. It did take a little time getting use to the new gestures to get around on the phone and do the things that in the past you did with the home button. Once you learn those, you will never miss the home button again. I find doing things on this phone with out the home button seams more natural then it did with the home button. Faceid seems to work great. Just like with the finger print reader there are times it doesn't unlock, but not very often. It is so fast you unlock the phone without even thinking about the faceid part. Just swipe up and you are in. I am not going to get into the camera. It is a great camera, but I am no expert to say how good it is. It takes good pictures for what I do.

This phone is definitely a step up from my last (Samsung galaxy S8) and from other iPhones. I had an iPhone prior to having the Samsung. I originally switched to Samsung because I was tired of the same boring iPhone that hadn’t been redisigned in years, and I’m happy to say that the newer models are definitely different and better. The battery life is something else though, very powerful!! I use it the same amount that o used my old phone, and it lasts most of the day without a charge and heavy use. The camera is great, but takes some getting used to. The phone itself is also beautiful, I hate to put a case on it cause I like to show it off, but alas I can’t afford to break it after purchasing this with cash! The price a downfall, but I also purchased the 2 years of apple care and I’m always pleased with what their customer service is like.

I've been through many iterations of iPhones (and Android phones, but that's another story) and the iPhone X is the most impressive and most improved iPhone to date. The things I love most are the new screen and the wireless charging. The OLED screen is a sight to behold. True Samsung has had them for years, but the color accuracy of the Samsungs aren't very good. They are vibrant, but not accurate. Watching videos, netflix and itunes, in HDR on this is quite nice. Also, yes it's true that Android phones have already had wireless charging in their phones for some time, so now to have it on iPhone is a very welcome addition. At work I have a Qi wireless charging stand and it works fantastically for both vertical and horizontal phone orientations. Also another thing to note: having come from the Plus version of the iPhone to the X was a pretty noticeable change, but after only a couple of days usage, the smaller physical form factor size is a non-issue.

I had my previous iPhone for 5 yrs. It was hard to say good-bye to a reliable phone that fit perfectly into nearly every pocket. However, the upgrade was needed. I'm glad I waited for the iPhone X. I've had to adjust to the new features, but all worth it. I'm so happy to have a bigger screen too; as are my eyes. :) The camera takes great pictures. I'm a photographer and don't get into features, so its nice to take basic pictures and have them be so vivid. I do miss the homebutton, if that's what it was called. Still adjusting to how to hold the side button just right to talk with Siri and not turn the screen off. Overall, I'm happy with the phone. I've always had Apple products, never switched to droid. Just easier to keep my stuff on the same cloud. Hope this helps someone.

The first thing that drew me to this iPhone over the 8 was the size...it's perfect overall and so is the screen size. I was hesitant of letting go of the home button but 3 days in and I found myself not missing it at all. The facial recognition feature works very well, even in the dark. It also works most of the the time if it is down near your lap and you look down...huge plus it your trying to be discreet in staff meetings. The camera features are phenomenal and many of the old ways of doing things (for ex: killing apps by double-clicking the home button and swiping up) you now have to swipe up and hold....same feature, new way of doing it. Overall, I'm loving it. My only negative is the layout of the side buttons. A few of the functions require you to hold 2 buttons down at once and, because these aren't the more common functions I use, I never remember the correct combination.

I needed to upgrade my 6s due to the battery draining super fast. I was ready to upgrade, and I knew I wanted to stay with iPhone. Had an Android recently, and iPhones always felt more refined to me. I do agree that 6, 6s, 7, and 8 were too similar design-wise. If I’m going to get a new phone, I want it to feel like a new phone. I definitely got that with the X. I love the screen size and screen/body ratio, overall build quality makes the phone feel very high quality and dense. The one this I wish it had is some sort of fingerprint ready. Sometimes, Face ID seems particular about distance of your face to the phone. I often find myself holding it too close to my face and I have to try again to unlock it. Other than that, the camera is fantastic, and I would get this phone again if I were given the option.

Been waiting for so long with an iPhone with OLED screen. This phone takes a little getting used to when it comes to no physical home button or fingerprint scanner. But I noticed Face ID literally works 95% of the time every time I try it. The speakers are louder on this phone and also somehow my Bluetooth headphones seem to get louder also. The battery life is even better than the 7 plus I had. It also feels way better in your hand I recall dropping my 7 plus on my face countless times or not being able to reach every corner of the screen without using reach assist. Despite the higher than usual price point, this phone is nearly perfect in every way. The new-to-iPhone edge to edge display is beautiful, and the notch quickly fades out of focus after a few days of normal use. Face ID works flawlessly and is seamless with many apps that also support touch ID. The only issues are when lying in bed and the phone is too close to your face, and in the car when mounted and not directly facing you. Build quality is Apple. Front and back glass may be considered fragile, however I still enjoy the phone without a case when at home because it feels great to hold. Stainless steel around the edges adds something extra, and the weight gives it that premium feel. This phone is not a "must have", but if the money is not an issue, or you get a great deal like I did, you will not be sorry with the upgrade.

I have been using this phone since the release date, I have to say it’s way better than my previous iPhone 6. The new OLED display is way better than former LCD. FaceID and new camera is a huge upgrade. But apple still put 5V charger in the box which is really weird, you have to pay another $75 to get fast charge. I use my iPad charger to charge and the speed is not bad. Overall, the phone is great and I think it’s a better experience than using plus size phone even you can save $200 for that. If you want to keep using a phone longer than two years, I will definitely recommend iPhone X. I will not recommend wireless charger or fast charger(iPad charger is good enough), they are low cost accessories and evidently taking advantage of new features of the phone.

I wasn't sure I wanted to get the iPhone X at first, and thought I'd go with the 8 or 8 Plus, but I'm quite happy with my purchase. The home-button-less swiping interface is really simple and intuitive to get used to, and having a screen that stretches the entire front face is a nice feature. The "notch" is completely unnoticeable. For those of you concerned with not having a home button, look into the Assistive Touch features, which add a virtual home button. Great pictures with this camera as well! Optical stabilization on the front-facing cameras is a feature you won't find on the 8 Plus. Ultimately, what drew me to this phone is a body that is only slightly larger than the 8, with a screen larger than the 8 Plus and better quality with OLED, and better camera features than either the 8 or the 8 Plus.
