Perfect phone........Almost
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not going to get into all of the specs, features, etc like other reviewers. I'm sure if you're looking at the iPhone X, you have at least a general idea of those things. Instead I will just discuss the main issues I have with the iPhone X. I have had mine for about a week and upgraded from an iPhone 7 Plus. When I picked up the X in the store, I was excited and couldn't wait to get my new toy home to play with it. Immediately after unboxing it and putting it next to my 7+, I was disappointed to find out that while the working space on the screen is larger, the phone is actually smaller. Smaller, like the size of the iPhone 7. I must have missed that when Apple unveiled it and the numerous blogs that I've read. I have had the larger iPhone since the 6+ and have gotten accustomed to it and really have no interest in going back to something smaller. This would be the perfect phone if it were the same size as my 7+. I love the Face ID and have had no problems with it unlocking my phone. The cameras are great. There is a bit of a learning curve with the gestures, but all in all it works great once you get used to it. Animoji's are fun, but not a must for me. Setup is easy when upgrading from another iPhone. You literally use the camera to transfer passwords and data and then you download your apps either from iCloud or iTunes. Overall, this is a great phone, but if size matters (phone size that is), you might want to consider the 8+ unless you have a 7+ in which case, I wouldn't upgrade.

Is it worth $1K?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My iPhone 6s was at the end of its life. I needed a new phone. I went back and forth between the 8 and the X after reading reviews and talking to a few folks who were in the same boat. Now that I have used it for a few weeks, I am okay with it. From an aesthetic point, the Samsung Note 8 screen shape and the way it looks. In comparison to my iPhone 6s, the X has a better looking screen and is fast, fast, fast in every app that it loads. The camera's photos look better and handles low light situations (indoors) better. I like the larger footprint of the screen. I haven't used the wireless recharging capability yet. Learning the new swipes and finger movements to navigate the phone took some getting used to but like everything new it becomes easier after the first few days. Being able to swipe between apps is useful and makes it easier if you cutting and pasting. Activating Siri vocally (Hey Siri) does not work for me all the time, which is frustrating if I am driving. All in all, I like the phone. However, I do not think it is worth $1K or $800 after my trade-in. Could I have enjoyed the iPhone 8, probably. I purchased the X because this is supposed to be the best and latest technology. As mentioned previously, I have a friend with the Note 8 which has a beautiful screen and they love their phone. Would I recommend, yes and no, but more yes. If you are an Apple person, buy it. At this price point, if you are an Android person, there is probably a phone in the Android universe for you.

Nice phone, very expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I said I would never pay a thousand dollars for a phone......Well, never say never. I read all there was to read about the iphone X and I knew going in it was very expensive. I had a 6 Plus and it was painfully slow (everyone now knows why) and I was just tired of messing with it. I was in Best Buy (where I get all my phones) and I decided to make the leap. Here are my initial thoughts. Picture is supurb. The phone feels a lot smaller than my 6 Plus even though I know the screen is about the same size, it just feels smaller. Which, I guess is a good thing but I liked the size of my 6 Plus. But I put this phone in a bigger case to make up for that feel I missed with the plus size phone. I know, I'm an "older" user so having the convenience of slipping this phone in my pocket is not something I need like most on-the-go younger folks do, I just want to be able to see things on the screen and not feel like I don't have a handle on the phone. So I guess for me, size does matter. The face recognition has worked basically flawlessly for me so far. Its a pretty cool concept that probably needs some tweeking because I do find myself having to do more to get into the phone than I did before. You have to raise the phone to your face so it can identify you then you have to swipe up from the bottom of the phone to get into it. I think if they had a setting that would allow you to open the phone by face ID and not have to swipe to get in, I'd like that a lot better. Having said that, I've never been one of those people that uses a security code to get into my phone and I always worried about losing my phone and someone being able to get right into it. I just hated having to punch in a code each time I wanted to use it. I gave the phone to my wife for her to look at and delighted in the fact that she was totally frustrated that she could not get into it. She kept pointing the phone at me to unlock it and I would look away and it would not unlock. I have to admit, I do like that security feature and not having to punch in a code to get into it is pretty cool to me. I know several others have complained about the fact that now you have to swipe down from the top to get the control center and you have to do a swiping gesture to open up the multiple window function. I guess for me, its no big deal to have to swipe now rather than hit a button. If you grew up using virtually every variation of iphones going back to 2007, you are used to the button. But this one does not have a button and everyone that buys it should know that so why on earth would not having a button be an issue? I don't know, its just different and a lot of people don't like change. Me, I have no problem. I have heard that Apple might be bringing a virtual button back in the next update but all the functionality of the phone works fine for me. Its blazing fast, and that is what I am most happy about. The camera, both video and pictures, works very well. I am a bit of a semi-professional photographer and I will never stop using my DSLR cameras but this phone takes pretty amazing pictures, I have to admit. In fact, I also do some video editing on my Mac and the video images rivaled my 4k Canon 6D. I was really impressed with the video. One more aspect that is greatly improved is the audio of this phone. And I don't necessarily mean quality audio, even though I do think its better, I mean the volume. I use my phone when I get ready in the morning to listen to the watch ESPN app and at times on my 6 plus, the audio was not loud enough to hear when I was running water or something like that. On this phone, I have zero issues hearing it. I'm very impressed with that aspect alone. Its amazing how much sound comes out of this phone. In conclusion, for me, someone who lives in a Mac ecosphere, (Mac computer, iPad's, Apple watch, multiple iPhones and Mac book pro), this device is very familiar. If you've used iPhones for a while in the past, you will have no trouble adapting to the changes that to me, are intuitive because there is no home button. I had no trouble figuring out I needed to swipe instead of pushing a button. Some will find that frustrating, I did not. Beautiful phone, beautiful picture. But, were the changes that created this phone worth the price tag? Not really but I don't ever remember buying any Apple product and thought, wow I got a good deal on this! I buy Apple products because I know once I own it, It will last, it will work, and it will be the best product out there.

Good but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen is big and beautiful and the camera takes great photos and videos. The lack of a home button is akward, and having to swipe up from the bottom can be a nuisance (very easy to hang up on someone if you try to unlock your phone while in the middle of a call, for instance). Also, the FaceID feature is unreliable, working about half the time when trying to unlock my phone or download an app. Overall I think the 8 Plus would be a better choice, especially for the price difference.

Love the new features!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Face recognition works great- with or without glasses or a hat, even in the dark (by just the light of the screen) the technology recognizes me 99% of the time. Bigger screen is A++++. I couldn't give it 5 stars, however, until I figure out how to do the portrait manipulations with the camera that they showed off in the advertisements... not intuitive at all, so I guess I will have to google or wait for the IPhone guy on Facebook to post helpful hints in order to take advantage of the best aspects of the new camera. Still, picture quality is better than I was getting with the 6S. It only takes a few days to get used to the button-free features... but I was not happy to realize that I can't connect the phone to my car without some kind of bluetooth adaptor. I'll be heading back to best buy for that. Too expensive to just get a new car.

The upgrade I been waiting for!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must admit, I am that guy that gets each new iPhone. They string me in every time! So being someone that has been through every version, I can honestly say this is my favorite iteration of the phone, ever. This is by far, the best iPhone! It’s fast, the screen is beautiful, and the facial recognition works amazingly. Many complain about that small bump that takes up real estate from the screen. It did bother me at first. After 2 weeks, I don’t seem to notice it anymore. My only complaint is the fingerprint reader unlocked everything faster. I didn’t even need to lift the phone. The facial recognition does work great, but you have to have your face right in front of it. I cant really consider that a flaw, seeing as that is what the phone intends to do. Overall, the phone is worth the money!

Love the form factor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome, awesome phone. I love the screen and speed of the device. Face recognition works extremely well. I love how much smaller it is in your hand and pocket than the plus versions of previous models. My only annoyance is that I purchased it online without seeing it. The screen is stated to be bigger than the plus versions of the 6,7, and 8 but the phone is overall smaller because of the narrow bezels. While it technically is true, in the sense of diagonal inches, it is very narrow and tall, so the extra space is unusable. I came from a 7plus and while the screen was technically smaller diagonally, while using it, it felt larger. Because of the narrowness of the X screen, the keyboard is actually smaller than I was used to. All things considered though, great phone.

Great update if you want to stay with Apple
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Moved to it from iPhone 6 plus, and it's a big improvement: iTunes sync is much faster, face ID works great, OLED screen is readable in full sun. However, the competition is offering those features at a lower price, so the main reason for me was that I'm stuck in the Apple garden...

In Love! Apples done it again.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone has been amazing, the speed is incredible, the picture is so easy on the eyes even early in the morning that’s to the True Tone display. The battery life is amazing, I never go under 50% love the design. The only reason for 4 stars is simply the black bar at the top. It makes it so that you can’t use the full screen of the phone unless you want part of your viewing cut off. Wish the wasn’t there, yet at the same time it’s a quick way to know were the top of the device is.

Big but light
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third iPhone. First before I review this ... my 6 had a battery that wouldn't hold a charge. The Geek Squad guy noticed there was a tiny chip in the screen. He told me he couldn't put a battery in and it would have to go to Apple to get fixed, where they'd pull the screen up and more than likely break the screen ... Apple would want to fix both the screen and the battery, so it would've cost me about $150, he told me to put that to a new phone instead. I really wanted the X, so I got it. Note that you can do a downpayment and cut your monthly bill. I put $200 down and I got the 24 months (with a new phone each year) for $31 and change. The phone is lighter than my 6, some because I had a charger case. I love the size of the screen and the colors are beautiful. There is a lot of relearning to do because you don't have the home button anymore. I figured out the screen shot, WIthout the home button, to hard close, you swipe up. To get the things you used to swipe up, you swipe the top right corner down. This is probably the most important one to learn because the batter doesn't show the percent anymore... you have to do the swipe down the right top corner to see it. I do like that the time is constantly in view, even though I lost the battery percent. The battery seems to be much better than my 6's when it was new. I got 2 hours playing Pokemon app and that guzzle battery life and another 6 hours just sitting on the table. I got 5 hours sitting in a coat pocket left on Pokemon. Haven't tried just running regular apps to see how many hours I'd get, but I suspect a full day. I can't tell you how fast it'll charge back up with the given charger, because I'll only use Anker cables and quick charger. WIth these I can charge it up from 0% to 100% in a little over an hour. I haven't tried the wireless charger yet, don't have it, but like the idea.

Dope phone but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my iPhone X, best iPhone I’ve ever owned. Love how fast it is. Love the Face ID (scans face fast for unlock). The OLED screen is beautiful and the all screen display is wonderful (besides the notch, which doesn’t really bother me). Only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because the price tag is ridiculous. You can buy a much better phone as far as specs go for a much cheaper if not half the price but because it’s an Apple phone the price of over $1000 is outrageous. Only reason I bought this phone for me and my wife is because we both had iPhone 5s and it was slowing down tremendously and battery draining like a gas leak. We are both Apple fans because we love the simplicity of it and most of my family has an iPhone which makes iMessage and FaceTime a must for us. Other than the outrageous price tag this is a great phone. Dropped it a few times already (with a simple bumper case) and noticed zero damage to it.

Nice phone, but at a hefty price tag
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the iPhone X for a little over two weeks at this point. Now that my initial excitement over this new, shiny high-tech device has worn off a little, I feel can now look at things from a more neutral perspective. Compared to my prior iPhone 6 Plus, it does feel faster due to the hardware changes, the OLED display is very nice, the camera is improved & the phone is great eye candy. However, from a practical standpoint in terms of average day-to-day use AND considering the price, it is not necessarily leaps & bounds over the 6, 7 or 8 models. Four stars as it is indeed a state-of-the-art design that's basically a computer in your pocket, but I can't recommend it to friends as I can't justify the price tag over the 6, 7 or 8 models, which are still great phones today.

Great Phone but expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just recently updated from a iphone 6 and I am really enjoying some of the new features to the X. The portrait mode on the camera is great and probably my favorite feature and the reason I went with the X instead of a more budget friendly Xr. I miss the headphone jack plug in and dislike the fact I have to use an adapter for headphones. It has face id which is very nice but I feel almost like the home button with the fingerprint was easier and quicker to use for the things I needed it to do. The screen size is generous without being too big to fit in my back pocket. It was really easy to get used to the different features but there is a slight learning curve.

Excellent phone, kind of expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm sure most everyone is familiar with the iPhone product. This latest version has a beautiful screen, a great camera, a fast processor and a slim design. Having no Home button takes a bit of getting used to and, frankly, I don't like not having one since some of the operations have been made a bit more cumbersome. But, the removal of the button allows for larger screen size without increasing the overall size of the phone very much. At $1,000, it's a pretty expensive communication device to carry around in your pocket but I believe it's the best one you can buy.

Love/hate relationship
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the screen size, overall size of phone, speed, facial recognition is pretty easy. Camera is excellent. Do not like how sensitive the side buttons are. I’ve talked with my friends and they have the same issues: screen shots when you’re not trying, butt calls, inadvertent SOS calls. I know there are some operator errors, but It also locks up at least once a week. I switched from a 7 and quite frankly, had zero issues with the 7. I’d recommend, but with some reservations.

Best iPhone Yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Face ID works well and is convenient. Full face screen is a very clean look. Resolution/Clarity/Color all beautiful. Speakers at both ends of the phone make noticeably better sound when watching video. Operating without a home button does not take long to get used to. Cons: Still photos are less impressive than expected. Do not match the photos of the Samsung Note8. Very easy to take accidental screenshots.

Good upgrade from Iphone 7 - but is it worth it?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from IPhone 7 to the IPhone X. I love the extra screen real estate. It no longer has the Home button so takes a little to get use to. Button and screen tasks are a little different. There are a few minor issues with apps, but may be because of iOS glitches. Performance is good. However, I personally don't think it's worth the price versus IPhone 8. Video and picture quality seems to be about the same as IPhone 7. Sometimes a little grainy in medium to low light. If you use it frequently (every few minutes to hour) and you absolutely want the latest and greatest, it may be worth it. Battery life is OK. Watching videos and listening to music seems to drain a lot faster than previous models. If you do just basic tasks, not a heavy user, and are debating on if this phone is worth it, I would say hold off until it goes on sale or wait for later version to be released. For 1200 dollars, it feels like it's lacking. Face recognition is OK, but I have security concerns there. Sometimes it doesn't recognize. It also only seems to work in upright position. Supposedly, in future models they plan to implement an on-screen fingerprint reader. I read the reason they did not do in the X model is due to price debates with parts manufacturer and they didn't want to wait to release. Overall, it's a really good upgrade or new phone if price is not a concern, but I would still recommend waiting for next version if at all possible.

iPhone X - Face recognition is a blast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had my iPhone X for 10 days now but I'm truly enjoying getting to know the phone. Most iPhones don't offer a whole lot from generation to generation. This is the first one that feels like it truly evolved. The Face ID is quite cool. I'm still trying to figure out which third-party apps work and which do not. The True Depth camera is amazing and that alone is worth picking up this beauty. The real issue is the price. Not sure if Apple will ever offer a price reduction but paying monthly installments over 2 years is not the worst option to bring this phone home today!
