Cable does the trick

The only downside is that you can't charge your apple device at the same time. Apple does make an adapter that will allow you to connect a charging cable to the adapter while linking the USB device.

Adapter works well

The reader didn't work with the simple USB adapter because it required more power. By using the USB 3 Camera Adapter with external power I am able to power the SD card reader and view pictures from my DLSR camera (which doesn't have the ability to send pictures to the computer over WiFi or Bluetooth).

THIS IS A GREAT IPHONE ACCESSORY THAT I ACTUALLY DID NOT KNOW EXISTED UNTIL I FIGURED OUT THAT I NEEDED TO CONNECT MY HEADPHONES AND PICTURED THIS EXACT ACCESSORY IN MY MIND.

Haven't found a use for it yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My Dad bought this for his new iPad thinking he'd be able to transfer files from a Windows device via a USB thumb drive. It sure looks like it would work, but it doesn't. He gave this to me since we have a camera and we'll see if it works to connect a camera and transfer pictures to our iPad Air. I suspect that it will be fine, since that it was it's designed to do.

Fast and easy

The apps remembers which photos have been downloaded previously and provides you opportunity to select which new photos you want to transfer to IPad. Once downloaded, it's easy to review/delete photos from IPad and show them to family members or share on social media.

Good, with one caveat

Works fairly well, but causes the iphone to take about 30 pictures when using the microphone for recording video. Not sure if a software fix is needed? Other than that, the adapter works well.
