Picked up the Mac Mini (16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) from Best Buy and I’m super happy with it. This thing is fast, quiet, and handles everything I throw at it—web browsing, work apps, even some light coding—without breaking a sweat. The 16GB RAM makes a big difference if you tend to keep a bunch of stuff open. The 256GB storage is fine for my needs, but if you deal with a lot of large files, you’ll probably want to add an external drive. I love how compact and clean it looks on my desk. Setup was a breeze, and it plays really well with my other Apple devices. Shipping from Best Buy was quick and hassle-free too. If you’re looking for a smooth, no-nonsense desktop setup, this is definitely worth it.

I purchased the Mac mini at Best Buy and it has exceeded all my expectations. Despite its compact form, this device is a true powerhouse. The M4 chip ensures lightning-fast performance, whether I’m multitasking, editing videos, or running other high performance applications. The 16GB of memory and 256GB SSD provide ample speed and storage for my daily tasks. I was pleasantly surprised by how effortlessly it handles everything I throw at it, all while staying whisper-quiet. At $698, this Mac mini offers phenomenal value for the performance and build quality it delivers. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a high-performing desktop that doesn’t break the bank or take up too much space. I’ve been using the new Mac mini M4 for a few weeks, and I’m really impressed. It’s small, completely silent, and incredibly powerful for its size. As a programmer, it handles everything I need from running multiple development environments to compiling large projects without breaking a sweat. What I love most is its versatility. It works just as well as a compact workstation on my desk as it does connected to my TV for entertainment. The performance is smooth, apps open instantly, and it stays cool even under heavy use. This is my first non laptop Apple computer. I used a Macbook for years, it was all I needed at the time. I never considered the older Mini, either the Intel based or M1/2 based ones, they were ok for what they were but they lacked normal priced upgrade options...seriously $200 for 256GB of additional storage is nuts! This new one still suffers from Apples delusional upgrade pricing, but they at least start you off with more ram (16GB) instead of a measly 8GB, and the M4 chip in the base model is plenty powerful enough for even heavy editing work. I got around the idiotic upgrade pricing for the storage by adding a Thunderbolt 4 external enclosure (around $50) and added my own 4TB NVMe ssd from Crucial. It's VERY fast storage, you wont miss having overpaid for it internally at all. The size is truly tiny, like palm of your hand tiny, and it's not getting too hot in my pretty hard usage of it today, I'm really impressed with that last part. All told, if you are in the Apple ecosystem, or even if you want to break into it, this is the lowest cost device they sell to allow you to have a truly powerful desktop at your disposal. Apple hit it out of the park with this one, if you're on the fence, hop over to the dark side and give this puppy a try out, you will not be disappointed!

I’m completely satisfied with my Mac Mini M4. It meets all my needs for both work and study. The performance is fast, smooth, and reliable, and the system itself is intuitive and easy to use. It’s simply brilliant. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful yet compact desktop. Apple products are usually priced well above their counterparts equivalent product. Now…I never run my computers super hard but using this thing for music production has been amazing. Using an audio interface to record guitar, bass, drums, vocals…everything works so well. Especially when using a VST for electronic drums. Basically zero lag without any modifications to drivers or sample sizes. If you want a Mac desktop. This thing is half the size of a laptop. Barely uses any energy and is whisper quiet.

Have been using Intel Macs, but have been disappointed with the fan noise that fires up any time some sort of non-idle tasks is occurring. Was amazed at the responsiveness of this lowest-end Mac Mini compared to the 2019 core i7 Mac Mini and 2019 core i9 MacBook Pro we have in our house. This 2024 Mac Mini completely beats the pants off of those other machines, and I have never heard it spin up a fan, even under some reasonably computationally heavy tasks like doing AI model audio transcriptions or installing other operating systems in a virtual machine. Only drawback is that there are a precious few other operating systems that can be installed on this Apple Silicon Mac. But the ones that do install, run exceptionally well, even as virtual machines. I am a pretty picky personal computer user, and I have to say that if this kind of performance is what you get on the low-end of the Apple line, then I am very pleased to see the progress they have made with personal computing technology over the past 5 years.

I bought the base model with 256GB memory, simply because you can add a 2TB external drive with USB-C for less than $100 and it's portable / replaceable. I got a TotalTech deal for $549, and $25 back in rewards, so realistically I only paid $525 for it. DEAL... It's super small, fast, and I love all the USB-C ports. Instead of trading in my old M1 Mac mini ($200 trade), I kept it and connected it to my 70" 4K TV in the main room. It's nice to have it as a backup computer. Simply connect a wireless keyboard and ,ouse, and it's like having a huge computer in your family room. Connect the Apple CD/DVD drive to it and you can watch movies on it, replacing the old DVD player on your shelf. The fact that this has 16GB RAM as a base model at that price really is amazing. This Mac mini replaces an aged iMac and I am more than thrilled with the improved performance of this device. Not only is the processor much faster than the iMac, but its reduced size is a real benefit on my crowded desk. I use it for photo editing, and combined with an SS monitor I couldn’t be happier with the quality.

I found the Mac mini with M4 chip incredible: compact, fast and efficient. It offers impressive performance for heavy tasks, elegant design. A powerhouse!

As an owner of the 2018 Mac mini i5, I wanted to upgrade to Apple's new technology. The Mac mini M4 is very small. See the picture showing the size difference. Not all software has been compiled to run natively on the M4 RISC processor. But, the mini is super fast and interpreting doesn't slow it down. A reboot takes about 2 seconds. I'm glad I got it, I like the thing. If I were to do it again, I'd get the top of the line (i.e. most cores, most RAM.) If you don't already have something like this, the Insignia 7-Port USB-C Hub is recommended to purchase with this M4 Mac mini.

I've been using the Mac Mini M4 for the past five months, and I can confidently say it's a game-changer. I liked how compact the computer is. I can place it anywhere in my desk. Overall performance 4 out of five. There are some apps like Page that when I print something and then I want to print something again I will have to exit the app and go in again but maybe thats a appt bug.

The new Mac Mini M4 is a fantastic addition to any workstation. The performance is impressive, offering smooth and efficient workflows for creative professionals. However, the storage capacity is a bit of a disappointment. In 2025, having 256GB as the base storage feels outdated—1TB should be the standard minimum. Overall, while the device excels in portability and performance, its limited storage holds it back from perfection.

The Apple Mac mini M4 base model is tiny and plenty powerful enough for tasks beyond everyday multitasking. I use this device to stream 1080p content from OBS studio with no difficulty with multi other programs running and tabs opened. I would still recommend a model with high Memory for heavy duty tasks or 4k 120fps gaming; In addition the 256gb of storage is plenty with an external drive and the cloud. This also makes the device more cost efficient. I use a samsung curved 1440p gaming monitor with my Mac Mini and have no trouble connecting to the display; However, you must turn on HDR and fiddle with the settings of both the monitor and the display options on the Mac Mini to the extent I found it appropriate to mention if you care about the best picture quality. Something also worthy of note is I’m using a microsft arc surface mouse and a samsung keyboard. The set-up was a little frustrating at first but all you need to do is press the power button three times to connect the mouse and then the keyboard. So far, I have not heard the fan once while playing runescape or any other title that I have available. All that with OBS studio and others software running. Normally, I am used to fans and heat radiating from all my devices and I’m thouroughly suprised how cold the Mac Mini M4 runs. I am impressed by this device and I’m happy to have learned apple uses a proper M4 chip or, if you are lucky, a M4 pro chip in the base models. This tiny powerful device also ensures logevity with the emegence of AI and the adaption of ARM technology apple is so good at. You can even pick up this machine on sale for under $500 before taxes often. I splurged on this device and paid the full price but it was so worth it for me! I hope you found this review helpful and the apple OS was no problem for me to learn coming from Microsoft software. I also picked up an iphone 16 pro to go with my Mac Mini M4 I loved it so much. Good performance for a good price, I must say this is a 10/10 purchase as it is compact, soundless, powerful. It is capable to turn your productivity performative. Runs games smoothly, I do school work on it, and overall multitasking is seamless.
