Buyer Beware
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT BUY the new M4 16GB Memory - 256GB SSD unless you only intend to watch videos and check emails. This DOES NOT have memory to do any photo or video editing. Only work around is move non-Apple apps to SSD and launch from there. Spend the extra and get the 32GB.

FfffffffffffAAAAST!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from an Intel Mac Mini, and the M4 Mac mini is like night and day: many times faster, plus a tiny footprint compared to the old “silver” Intel model. Apple gave the machine a design overhaul from its M2 with the 2024 refresh. The M4 mini measures just 5 inches by 5 inches — more than 40% smaller than my prior-generation Intel model. It takes up much less space on my desk, and has impressive performance in that super compact package. With Apple Intelligence and the M4 chip, Apple stopped using 8GB as the base amount of memory that Macs ship with, and upped it to 16GB. The base M4 Mac mini has 16GB of RAM as a result, making it super fast and a great deal for a desktop machine. It runs the new IOS 26 with plenty of memory to spare for applications. You do have to supply your own display, keyboard, and mouse, but it's so small that I can easily move it between desktop setups at home and work. Because it doesn’t have any ordinary old style USB ports, I had to pick up a cheap USB-C to USB-A hub for 15 bucks, so I could attach my existing keyboard and mouse. There is an option to upgrade to the faster M4 Pro for those who need more power, but as a software engineer with fairly intense computing needs, the base model gives me everything I need. It has three Thunderbolt 4 ports, where the M4 Pro sports Thunderbolt 5 ports with faster transfer speeds, but that’s frankly only useful for intense video editing. The base M4 model does routine video editing without breathing hard. There are also two USB-C ports with 10Gb/s transfer speeds at the front. Compared to my prior-generation Intel Mac mini, the M4 models are 5 times faster in terms of CPU speed. If you're looking for a desktop Mac, the base Mac mini is the best deal that you're going to get. The performance is more than enough for day to day tasks and even gaming, photo editing, and routine video editing, and that price tag really can't be beat.

Again?
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So the first review I gave was good, but you chose not to publish it so you sent me a second review. Therefore, I’ll say that I needed more memory and the sales people didn’t have it in them to try and upsell me. So now I have to buy a memory card.

It stays quiet, runs cool, and pairs easily with any monitor and accessories. For the price, the value is amazing—you get desktop-level power at a fraction of the cost of other systems. Fantastic purchase
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.**Mac Mini (Base Model) Review** I recently purchased the base model Mac Mini, and I’m genuinely thrilled with its performance and value. Powered by the M4 chip with an 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, it handles my daily tasks—web browsing, video streaming, light photo editing, and even some coding—with impressive speed and efficiency. The 8GB of unified memory and 256GB SSD are sufficient for my needs, though heavy multitaskers might want to consider upgrading. The compact, sleek aluminum design fits perfectly on my desk, and its near-silent operation is a huge plus. Setup was a breeze, and macOS Ventura runs smoothly, offering a seamless experience with my other Apple devices. The port selection (two Thunderbolt 4, two USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, and headphone jack) is versatile for a machine this size, though I occasionally wish for an extra USB-C port. For the price, it’s hard to beat the performance and build quality, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable, space-saving desktop. I’m delighted with my Mac Mini—it’s a powerful little workhorse that exceeds expectations for a base model. Highly recommended for budget-conscious users who don’t need the extra bells and whistles!

Mac Mini small and powerful
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Performance the moment you unbox it, the new design hits different — it’s comically small (basically the size of four stacked Apple TVs), yet it feels premium with the polished silver finish and that satisfying magnetic power cable. Apple finally brought the front I/O (two USB-C ports + headphone jack) where it always should have been. No more crawling under the desk.Performance is ridiculous. The base M4 chip with 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU absolutely flies. Video editing in Final Cut Pro (4K multi-cam timelines with color grading), Logic Pro with dozens of tracks and plugins, Xcode builds, even running multiple virtual machines — everything feels instant. It’s faster than my previous 16-inch M2 Pro MacBook Pro in many tasks, and it does it while staying dead silent and barely warm. Fan noise? What fan noise?Apple Intelligence features work flawlessly on this thing — Writing Tools, smart summaries in Mail/Notes, Image Playground, and the new Siri are genuinely useful and snappy. The 16GB unified memory is the sweet spot; I never hit swap even with Chrome + 50 tabs + Photoshop + Docker running. The only minor nitpick is 256GB feels tight if you work with large media files, but that’s what fast Thunderbolt 5 external SSDs are for (up to 120 Gb/s — insane). For everyone else, it’s perfect. At this price, nothing else even comes close. Not a mini-PC with an Intel N100, not some overpriced Windows small-form-factor box, nothing. If you want a blisteringly fast, silent, gorgeous little Mac that just works and will stay relevant for the next 7–8 years, buy this immediately. I smile every time I look at it on my desk.10/10. Apple cooked with this one.

Best buy period
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First I got this on sale at Best Buy with my Best Buy Plus membership for $499 - sweet! I'm not a power user, just your average guy. I don't do video editing, music production, or gaming to any serious degree but pretty much everything else. This little thing rocks. I'm coming from years of PC experience both from light IT work to heavy office usage. I don't much care about being bullied by Microsoft into Windows 11 and figured if I had to learn a new GUI may as well go all in on Mac. I have used Mac for some music editing and production but not as my primary computer. Has there been a learning curve, oh yeah, but it's been relatively painless and I have found customizations to make it a bit more Windows like, but hey I chose to go away from Windows so I haven't changed anything, just learned Mac. As far as the machine itself is concerned my wife was gobsmacked to learn that this little box was all my gargantuan desktop was and more. It's compact, quiet, boots quickly what more can I say. The only downside if there is one is the lack of USB A ports, even some USB 3.0 devices use the USB A form, but an adapter takes care of it. Just means your desktop is a bit more cluttered, particularly if you hook up a USB A hub for your other peripherals. I am a tinkerer and loved to replace and upgrade my PCs, not so this little guy, there is nothing user accessible, but hey I'm ok with that as it's spec'd for what I need. If I need more than this on a budget then it's definitely going to have to be filled with a PC as Mac gets stupid expensive for RAM and storage upgrades. Having said that am I nervous about storage, 256 gb - not really as external storage is cheap and with Thunderbolt danged near as fast as internal storage at least for most uses. I have loaded all I need to load to include some music editing software, etc., and I haven't used half of the storage and don't see ever running out. I use an external drive for backups and file storage. Us old computer users who grew up with miniscule hard drives are used to keeping things decluttered and neat. I have also learned through hard knocks that it's always best to keep things backed up on an external drive, Do I recommend it, you bet. If something happened to it I would certainly replace it with another just like it.

My Upgrade Journey
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who relies heavily on my desktop for a mix of creative work, coding, and everyday tasks, my Mac Mini is the heart of my setup. I've been a big fan of the M-series chips, having previously used the M2 Mac Mini, which was already a fantastic machine. But the recent jump to the M4 Mac Mini has genuinely surprised me with how much more it brings to the table. Let's start with the most immediate, tangible difference: performance. My M2 Mini was no slouch, but the M4 is just on another level. I work with large image files in Photoshop and often dabble in 3D rendering for personal projects, and the speed improvements are undeniable. Filters apply in a blink, complex scenes render noticeably faster, and compiling code feels almost instantaneous. It's not just about raw benchmarks; it's about the fluidity of the experience, the complete lack of bottlenecks in my workflow. My M2 was fast, but the M4 feels effortless. Beyond the sheer horsepower, the new design is a real win. The M4 Mac Mini is surprisingly smaller and more compact than the M2, which is impressive given the power it packs. It's subtle, but it makes a difference on my desk, freeing up a bit more space. Plus, having the front-facing USB-C ports is a game-changer for convenience. No more reaching around the back for quick connections – a small detail that makes a big impact on daily usability. And then there's Apple Intelligence. While the M2 had a Neural Engine, the M4's enhanced capabilities are truly making a difference in the latest macOS features. Things like the more intelligent Siri, advanced photo editing suggestions, and smarter contextual searches are not just gimmicks; they're genuinely useful and feel incredibly responsive. It's clear this machine is built to handle the future of AI-driven applications. Connectivity has also seen a solid bump. Depending on the model, you're getting either more robust Thunderbolt 4 or even Thunderbolt 5 ports, which means even faster external storage and display options if I ever need to expand. For anyone currently on an M1 or even an M2 Mac Mini, I can confidently say the M4 is a seriously compelling upgrade. If your work involves anything moderately demanding, or if you just appreciate a truly future-proof and incredibly responsive desktop experience, the M4 Mac Mini is an absolute powerhouse in a tiny, refined package. It's not just a faster Mac Mini; it's a smarter, more efficient, and even more enjoyable machine to use every single day.

Small Size, Massive Performance — Perfect for Work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the M4 Mac mini (16GB RAM / 256GB SSD) for a few weeks now and it has completely exceeded my expectations. The performance is incredible for such a compact machine. The new M4 chip is extremely fast and responsive. Everything from daily productivity tasks to heavier workloads like coding, running multiple Docker containers, and compiling projects runs smoothly without any lag. The 16GB of unified memory makes a noticeable difference when multitasking — dozens of browser tabs, IDEs, and background processes all run effortlessly. What really impressed me is how quiet and cool it stays. Even under sustained workloads, it remains nearly silent. The form factor is minimal and clean, and it fits perfectly on a desk without taking up space. Apple Intelligence features feel snappy and well integrated, and macOS is optimized beautifully for the new chip. Boot time is almost instant, and apps launch immediately. Tiny Box, Massive Performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up as a spare desktop to keep at a remote location, but it honestly performs so well it’s starting to compete with my main setup. The new M4 chip is lightning fast, and I haven’t hit a single hiccup yet running multiple apps, editing media, or handling remote sessions. The form factor is classic Mac mini, small enough to hide behind a monitor or tuck on a shelf, but don’t let the size fool you. This thing is an absolute powerhouse. It boots up instantly, stays quiet under load, and sips power compared to a traditional desktop. Apple really packed some serious muscle into a sleek little box. If you need a dependable and surprisingly powerful machine for work, creative tasks, or even as a travel-friendly setup, this Mac mini delivers far more than expected.

Amazing daily driver, but AI power users should up
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Mac mini M4 is an incredible value. For day-to-day work, it is lightning-fast, silent, and takes up almost no space on the desk. The M4 chip handles multitasking effortlessly. However, if you are buying this specifically for local AI work, be aware of the memory limits. While 16GB is plenty for office work, it struggles with larger AI models like GPT-OSS 20B. These models need more than the available unified memory, leading to slow performance. If you plan on running 20B+ parameter models regularly, I highly recommend stepping up to the 24GB or 32GB version. Otherwise, for 95% of people, this is a perfect machine!

The 256GB SSD is very fast, allowing quick boot times and instant system responsiveness. The design is compact, elegant, and completely silent, as expected from Apple. ||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I couldn’t be happier with my Mac mini purchase. This little machine is an absolute beast for its size. Setup was incredibly fast. I was fully up and running in minutes. macOS runs flawlessly, everything feels instant, and multitasking is extremely smooth even with heavier apps open. I use it for work, media editing, web browsing, and streaming, and it handles everything effortlessly. It’s completely silent, barely warms up, and takes almost no space on the desk. Honestly, it feels like a professional workstation hidden inside a small aluminum box.
