Exactly what I expected - light, slim, fast and easy to use. This is my first Mac and I love it. The trackpad is a lot of fun and the OS was easy to learn. Loving how fast and light it is. Only wish that the native Apple office applications (like Pages and KeyNote) were more compatible with MS Office applications. All formatting in the MS files I had on my old computer have to be completely re-worked when I open them on the Mac OS to ensure they look the same.

I bought my Apple Mac Air 11 inch to replace my Sony VAIO laptop. I love the design of my MacBook Air; it has terrific performance and is quiet and cool. The Keyboard and trackpad seem to work great. I was looking for portability and battery life and so far, it has exceeded my expectations. My MacBook Air is light and great for traveling.

I don't stay up to date on the latest/greatest, so I was SHOCKED when I learned how fast the Air is. The sales associate explained that it's the flash memory that does it - I've always loved my Macs, but this one really exceeds my expectations. Truly small, light, compact and FAST. I'm a writer; I use it for hours on end and multiple times a day. Perfect for coffee shop working. Scriveners software has never been so fast and seamless.

Light, fast, no worries about memory. Looks and performs just like a Mac should--sleek and simple. I've used Macs since before the Power PC, still have most of them -- this Macbook Air is my favorite because of how lightweight and superfast it is. The 11 inch version accomplishes everything I need and still allows me to easily carry it from home to office, etc. Recommend a sleeve or snap-on cover to protect the aluminum body from scratches, bumps, etc.

I've owned several Macs but never really looked at the Macbook Air and then recently a need aroused for me to have such a machine & I have to tell you I am impressed!! it is so light and thin i hardly seems heavier than a magazine to carry around and honestly it is very capable of handling virtually any computing need you could possibly have, shy of perhaps heavy video editing etc its a great on the go laptop & I would think it would be perfect for a student

I purchased by unit "Geek Squad Certified" and saved a few bucks. I love the weight and size of this unit. I use it mainly for web browsing and music streaming. Battery life has been amazing. While i wish i had bought the 256 GB version, i'm OK with 128. I have all my photos/music in the cloud and also on a USB connected drive so i still have plenty of space. I would recommend the 13" model if you plan to do "work" with the unit.

Let me save you a few hours of research. Everytime it has come up on various forums 50% love the 11" 50% love the 13" and quite a few own/owned both and love both. It will not be helpful to search it. They are both small they are both light. 13" is $100 higher in every configuration and has a 16:10 screen as opposed to 16:9 on the 11". The 13 has a SDXC card reader and 2x faster SSD other than that... The 11" has 135ppi (pixels per inch) and the 13" has 128ppi) I have viewed both side by side and if the 11"is better it is slight to the point you will never know. IIRC, the 13" has 12 hour battery as opposed to 9 for the 11". If you would use it on an airplane tray often or value SMALL and light over all else, go with the 11". The 13" is heavier but it's in no way heavy. The difference between the 13" MacBook Air and the new April 10 macbook is 1lb almost exactly and the 11" air is in between but closer to the new macbook in weight. Apple has all the specs on their site, but their comparison chart is lacking even compared to what I listed above. I compiled that from many sources. It's in no way definitive, but it really helped me decide.

I mean, what can I say about Mac? Nothing but the best. I bought my first Mac 11' and it has many great features that I like about it. IM not computer person but I alwat wated to have Mac and I got it finally. I picked 11' because it fits my needs for daily basis and it has bunch of nice usful features. Im still learning about Mac but my favorite feature about it is that its synced with my iphone and I can respond text messages if i dont have my phone on me. Even my notes are right on my fingers here. I could just keep going the brag about this little Mac. It is a good computer and perfect fit for someone who isnt geeky but likes the little features that comes with the Mac. I wold higly recommend this. Great! Great! Great!

Having previously used a MacBook Air 13" for the past five years, the MacBook Air 11" is exactly what I expected. It works seamlessly with my iPad and iPhone to keep all of my life in sync. I considered the MacBook and the Pro as well. The Pro is significantly bigger and heavier so it was eliminated pretty quickly from consideration - portability is key. The MacBook's USB-C port is the main reason I didn't choose it. Given that the MacBook Air is priced significantly less than either of them but still provided what I needed, I went with the Air. It helped that BB had a flash sale that reduced the price even further. I know there is a lot of commentary on the internet that the Air has low end graphics/display, not enough storage, old tech, may be discontinued, etc. However, for my needs, it is the perfect solution. I use the Microsoft Office suite, manage my music/email, general internet usage and it all works well. After being used to the 13", I was afraid the 11" might be too small of a screen for 50+ year old eyes but it isn't. It fits in my handbag which makes it easy to take on planes as I travel frequently. Battery life has been more than promised. I am confident that this will serve my needs for the next several years and am completely happy with my choice.

Great compact MacBook Air. Light weight and compact. Easy installations of Apps. Love. The only thing is the mouse pad I have to press down to click on apps. I'm used to my mousepad that I can double tap.

I have had my eye on the MacBook Airs for some time now and decided it was time to bite the bullet and return to Apple. One cannot deny the elegance and quality of their products. Having owned many PC based products over the years, it has taught me that each device has its purpose for sure. The MacBook Air 11.6 is quality and reliability all wrapped up in a sleek and gorgeous package. Its super light and portable. I use it everyday from web browsing, movie watching to light gaming. This MacBook does it all and more.

This laptop is super light, compact, and powerful. As a college student, it was important that it fit into my bag without lacking in power. It's a small screen but it's very easy to get used to and it looks great. While tiny, it's a powerhouse of a laptop, at least for what I need it to do (Word, Spotify, Netflix, iTunes, etc). Exactly what I wanted. However, I got it on sale Black Friday, and as much as I love it now, I don't think I would have paid full price for it before.

I've been a Mac user for years as well as PC user. My old Mac finally gave out on me leaving me with an opportunity to get this handy little guy. Keep in mind that I already have the thunderbolt accessories for external storage, as well as a NAS server for media, etc.. That means the 128GB flash drive is enough for me on the road even including all the Office Applications, running Parallels and Windows 10, and a bunch of other software. I fill about 2/3 of the drive out the door but don't see adding much more due to the limits an ultra portable machine like this has. I probably push the 4GB memory to its limit for practical purposes but that's a trade off and I wasn't willing to spend the extra big$$ for 4 extra GB Mac installed. Remember - memory isn't upgradable in this generation of Macbook Air because it's soldered in. Neither is the SSD - yet (it's not soldered, just plugged in but no larger SSD is available so far). App for App, process for process it's about 30% faster than my previous 2011 Mac (2nd generation Intel Core I5 2415m) - essentially the same class of chip. The Broadwell processor (5th Generation) definitely gets you better battery life than the 4th generation. I'm getting 7am to 9pm use regularly unless I play games. I'd say 7 to 9 hours of use for the battery is very realistic here. The Intel 6000 graphics also compare well with the very basic discrete video cards and its better than the Intel 530 in the 6th generation chipset. It's not a 3d gaming machine. Without a strong discrete graphics card that's just not an option. What is it? It's a solid road machine with great battery life that has the horse power to keep up with all my business applications, VPN, heavy web use, and personal needs. It has active cooling (i.e. a fan) so it doesn't thermal throttle the chip as fast as the MacBooks which are passively cooled. That means it'll keep it's speed far longer into your work than its ultra thin Retina cousin. The last (and perhaps most important point) is it's not USB C. That means if you have Thunderbolt accessories you won't be in possession of expensive paperweights when Apple moves all the it's products to USB C. I haven't seen a true USB C to Thunderbolt adapter yet and judging by past product launches it's going to be a long time before anyone makes one. On the super sale I bought this on you just can't go wrong.

I really like this compact system. It's great having a full Mac OS X experience in the size of basically an iPad. It's super lite, it's fast and I can take it anywhere. I give high marks to the Wi-Fi capability and to its overall speed. My only con would be you that the keyboard is a tad cramped for my large hands. But overall I am so very pleased with this machine and I highly recommend it. When conducted with my iCloud account and dropbox, everything I need is always there. If you need extra ports you won't find it on this machine but with cloud services will do fine

Nicest MacBook I've owned so far

As I stated in the title of my review, this is the nicest MacBook I've owned so far. I do own an iMac which I really love and I just gave my 5 year old MacBook Pro to my daughter who's in college. This new MacBook Air was purchased to replace my MacBook Pro. Upon using this new MacBook I've found to be very quick and responsive. I like the fact that it's much lighter than my MacBook was. I decided to purchase another MacBook because of the success I had with my old laptop and also because of the excellent customer care I've received from Apple in the past, both over the phone and at the local Apple Store. I highly recommend any of the MacBook Air models or the new MacBook Pro models because of the solid state hard drive which dont have any moving parts like the old hard drives did. They are quieter because they don't need a fan and they are much quicker and more reliable. Consumer reports rates them as the best laptop on the market also with fewer problems than any other laptop currently being made today. I can't say anything negative so far and I've been using this new laptop for a few months now.

I've taken a long time to make the jump from PC to MacBook and I can say that I don't regret it one bit. I considered Air models in the past but glad I waited for this one. All the power and speed I need and none of the extra nonsense. Who needs a cd drive anyway? Everything can be downloaded and Microstoft 365 is good enough for basic Word when working on files away from work. Still light and small enough to carry in my purse but with all the power that would have been missing if I went for an iPad. Strong, tough, and lightweight.

I bought this computer early in May for my husband's birthday present. He loves it so much. It has made his work way easier, he said. Surfing the internet is fast, elegant design and super-light-weight computer! Once his Apple account has been synchronized with all of his Apple devices (MacMini, Apple TV, iPad and iPhone), he's good to go. Although the screen is not an HD quality, but he's happy with it. That's all that matters to me. Plus, I got it for a discounted price. Great deal!

Review of MacBook Air 11". This computer was a jump for me from a pc to a MacBook. So there is definitely a learning curve when making this change, especially for us folks who have been using a pc since forever. But, I went with a MacBook because most of my other electronic devices are now apple products and wanted to have more of a streamlined experience. It does help in that respect, but it is much different than a pc and takes a lot of getting used to. I selected this size because it is very portable and I wanted a laptop that I could travel with and/or grab and go in a medium sized messenger bag. The one thing with the size that I didn't think through before purchase is the screen size and everything on the screen is much smaller. Not everything adapts well to the size of the screen. So with the downside, it is still a very nice lightweight fairly easy to use handy computer. Still learning how to use it effectively.

i have been an iPhone and iPad user for years, but have never owned a Mac computer before. After buying the MacBook Air, I will never go back to PC! The light weight, slim size, and excellent performance have convinced me to never go back to PC. There was a slight learning curve changing from the Windows OS to Mac OS, but after an evening of diving in, I can use it as well as any Windows-based PC. We went with the smaller screen size, as most of the MacBook Air's use will be while sitting on the couch or laying in bed (we bought this strictly for personal/recreational use) and have been completely satisfied with the size. If you are considering a new laptop, I HIGHLY recommend the MacBook Air!
